I work at an old folks' home in Hungary. We are not a particularly religious nation (40 years of communism kinda hampered the church a little), so I never really understood the religious fervor of the average US christian and how frustrating it must be to be an atheist over there. However, due to old people being more religious around here, I actually had to help organize events with the regional preacher present and giving his blessings et all, and holy shit, there were times I really had to avoid the guy because I was afraid I would not be able to stop myself from facepalming in public. The most recent one during our early Christmas event was especially egregious, as the entire half an hour long speech was about how Jesus was all about the family, that the family was the most important thing in the world, and that since Jesus said so, modern times are so horrible because families are being torn apart by ideologies. So yeah, what can you expect from the average bible-thumper when the people whose job is supposed to be to convey the "message of the Bible", didn't read their holy book? I mean, Luke 14:26 anyone? Hello?

Yes I'm glad you quoted that Jesus exact quote verse, about how jesus himself said from his own mouth: “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters-yes, even their own life-such a person cannot be my disciple." WHAT AN ASSHOLE. But, I should let you know what my daughter was told by her Professor in Uni (she is doing Psychology). Her whole class was informed that if your client is religious you cannot say they are wrong or contradictory even if their verses confirm the contradictions! You must help them in a way that does not go against their own religious beliefs. And THIS is just another reason why even a small amount of Christian belief poison can actually effect the support you receive. They need to curb their support to not infringe on the client's religious beliefs (unless of course its critical or illegal obviously). Therefore their support is limited and likely not fully comprehensive. These Christians are hurting themselves. Maybe one day doctors will be told not to operate a certain way on religious people! Its absolutely horrendous. Plus this method extends to the children who are dependents on the religious nuts. Thus religious belief is confirmed as disadvantageous to any believer even when science is involved to try to support them!

@@rochie589 I grew up getting my Bible stories second hand, like most Christians. Then I got bored at night when working long distance, and started reading it for real. The first time I read it (as a serious effort) cover to cover I was like, "wtf?!?", so I read it again, and then again (over a one year period). That's when I started researching other aspects of it - origins, translations, interpretations by various religious scholars. Many things stood out as "artificial" and "fabricated", and then, finally, I started looking at the opposing views. It didn't take long to become an atheist at that point. So my advice: read it, for real - it's the best tool for revealing the insanity of the Christian religion ever produced. One small example: if the voice in your head is telling you to sacrifice your baby on an altar, and you still believe that voice is from god, stop kidding yourself into thinking that said god is in any way loving or just. Now, I realize that even a relatively sane person can explain away single items like that one here or there - but such an attempt will suffer a death by a thousand cuts when faced with the full list of nonsense found in the Bible. But the way it is taught makes this difficult because they get you emotionally invested and thoroughly indoctrinated so you are too busy seeing each tree in it's own "special light" to see the forest you've gotten lost in. The techniques used don't just resemble brainwashing from a distance, it's a full on case study of how to do it right.

@RF Gaming I kind of get where you were going, but I would put it more like this: it's like buying a new "Holy Ammo" product, rebranded from countless previous versions but now made with a "blessed metal casing" that has been specially christened to remove all imperfections. You can't wait to try it out, but when you get to the range it seems to behave exactly like all previous ammo from the premium faith based (tax-sheltered) company, which is to say - poorly at best, and nowhere near as good as the cheap ammo that has no religious affiliation sold in discount ammo stores. So you take the ammo back to the Holy Ammo dealer and they blame you for your lack of faith in the ammo, your gun for it's heathen design, and the target for living in the world, not in the spirit. Footnote: sadly, attempting to get your money back is fruitless, too - as the legal system gives faith based ammo companies an explicit exemption from truth in advertising claims. (That was actually rather fun...)

What exactly is bad about being beta anyway? There's a whole Greek alphabet of people lower than you, and a single person higher. So if authority is good, wouldnt beta be a whole lot better than, say, gamma, or epsilon? Come to think of it, wouldnt being alpha and omega mean that Jesus' net place is the exact middle of the hierarchy and therefore a fair few steps lower than second in command (unless the group consisted of 4 or less people.) I guess that's what I get for logic from a movement headed by a cartoon amphibian.

One way to promote violence is to encourage it by inviting further violence - by offering the other cheek, so to metaphorically and/or literally speak. If somebody punches me, it would be morally wrong for me to encourage his violent urges to bully others by inviting him to carry on punching me until I am either hospitalised or dead. It would be far more moral for me to stop him by apprehending him, or even striking him, and thereafter teach him that unprovoked violence is at all times wrong...even if that meant hurting him to show him what its like to be bullied.

my bigger issue is with progressive and "liberal" Christians who do not engage their fundamentalist and conservative brethren enough on these and theological issues. I definitely do not agree with many conservative "values", nor conservative Christian "beliefs/values" however my arguments stem from secular points. It's often Atheists and the more secular parts of society that engage conservative and fundamental Religion, because I suspect liberal and progressive Christians have to both defend/excuse the very same Religion they have to debate on with fundamentalist and conservative Christians. I also suspect they would get their assess handed to them by conservative and fundamentalist Christians hence you see relatively little public and formal debates between liberal/progressive Christians and "hypocritical" Evangelicals.

This is what actually made me dislike it. While Christians and the alt right are both groups of idiots and I'm sure there's plenty of overlap, not all of the alt right are Christians like the description implies so it just made me confused. If he was specifically targeting the alt right it would make some sense, I guess, but that's not what the description says he's doing. And the language he uses makes it even more confusing because words like "cuck" just seems to be used by morons or trolls in general meaning those people are neither of the two aforementioned groups necessarily. So who is he targeting here? Alt right? Trolls? Morons? Christians? Some combination of the above? I don't fucking know and neither do you because he demonstrably doesn't. This video is essentially making fun of who you, the viewer, wants it to be making fun of and that's not how you political content (unless the point of said political content is to clickbait as people see/hear what they want and share it even though what they took from it mightn't actually exist in the content). @@youtubestudiosucks978 I’ve read parts of it just not the entire thing did Bible quizzing for like 8 years or something so I know about many parts of the Bible but even just reading parts of it things don’t always sink in the same way and it’s been helpful looking at other viewpoints on stuff since it’s caused me to consider things I never thought about and it’s exposed me to parts I never read before as well since we never covered some of the Old Testament books like all the prophet stuff when I was younger. And I just never got around to reading those things until the last couple years I’m only in my twenties though so I don’t feel like that is so bad to have not read the entire thing yet I’ve probably still read more than most Christian’s just not the entire thing yet
