Fun story about the cover: My friends got me this volume for my birthday party yesterday (because I love the Black Water arc) but in order to keep my parents from judging the cover they made up an entirely original cover for it (with Beefleaf) and wrapped it in plastic so it covers the whole thing 😅😅😂😂 I love them so much

I mean when reading the chapter in the book they sexual tension was so strong that they almost do it. Xie Lian was really going at it. But both respect e/o and will not do it without e/o consent especially how Hua Cheng in that chapter was suffering and was having big fever/headache so Xie Lian just help by kissing passionately and roughly

I personally like the stares more. It’s like, teasing. In that moment before the storm. It creates tension and energy, and makes you want to read and reach those pages to relive their emotions. You see the longing in their eyes. Their stares speak of their love and their passion. Whereas with the kiss, the eyes are closed, you see less expression and it’s like you’re closed out of the moment. Kissing is also dynamic and moving but the image is still which reinforces the feeling of being excluded. Reading a book you go into the character’s psyche, you see and feel what they think and experience, so for me the kissing image strays from that book-reader connection. Idk, I hope I explained it a bit comprehensively. On another hand. While the story is very romantic which we could say favours then the stares more. This is one of the last books, the story is ending, we’ve had enough teasing to last 800 years 😂, so it does deserve the climax of a kiss for god’s sake.

Oh yes, the story is really sad, especially when you just yesterday were once again happy that the publisher was able to keep the cover and then *BOOM* reality gives you a kick! The only thing we know so far is that both versions have been censored and that the Russian edition of book 4 will receive other art that has not previously been used in print publications. Well, we have a cool tgcf animated trailer and the book will at least come out, otherwise censorship is sometimes such a ruthless b!tch :')

Pffff... Last autumn russian government officially banned all and any LGBTQ+ content (it had been tolerated if marked 18+ before). One publishing company has already been destroyed due to that ban, and a russian fan fiction website called Ficbook (THE website, actually) has f-ed up so bad it's lost *a lot* of its most popular writers because of this. Basically, they changed the user agreement and didn't inform anyone, the change being "if there's a hint of LGBT in your fanfic, we're passing all your data to the authorities". So... yeah. Authors and readers alike flee from Ficbook, scared for their literal safety, and try to settle on Ao3.

The publisher have actually already showed the sneak peek of the third version of the cover! It's the same scene, but a bit before that, when HuaLian are sitting next to each other and studying calligraphy ❤ And, well, as much as I would've loved to have kissing Hualian of my bookshelf, I'm glad that the series was not banned completely, as it happened with many other LGBT books like the AFTG series
