A great and easy fruit fly trap is to take a small bowl, pour a little bit of apple cider vinegar in it, cover with plastic wrap, and poke a few holes with a toothpick. Not too big, not to small. The vinegar smell wafts far and wide, and the get in easily, but can't find their way back out. If they don't get exhausted and fall in the vinegar, they'll fall in while frantically trying to get out. My record was I think over 30 flies in one night, about 7 hours.

Who go to this trouble with messy oil in a bowl. Just buy a taller bucket, a bit taller than average, spread mouse/Guinea pig mix thinly on the bottom, make sure there’s something allowing the mice to climb up to it. Wild mice will jump in to bucket and it’s too tall for them to jump out. Kill them quickly by boiling water in the kettle and pouring it on them, they’ll die almost immediately when it’s tipped on them. Or boil lots more water in a larger saucepan and tip that on them when there’s more, to give them a peaceful eternal sleep.

I've tried this before and it didn't work. Perhaps the brand of peanut oil matters? Or maybe you could use peanut butter in the middle of the oil/bowl and a little bit smeared below the rim. Haven't tried that, yet, but the walk the plank bucket trap with peanut butter worked like a charm.

@@Mintstar_Oceanpop Possibly, but I have had some pistachios they got into in my storage before setting any traps. Also, I tried the walk the plank both before and after using the bowl of peanut oil and only the walk the plank with peanut butter worked and worked each time. If I remember, I think I bought a cheap brand of oil, not sure (it's been a few years now). Perhaps there should be a test done with different brands and scenarios to find out how best to make this particular trap option work.

@@truthinentertainment1028 I tried the bowl trap a few years ago in a room where there were definitely mice. Didn't work for me either. Perhaps the mice in Shawn's barn are less picky? Perhaps I'll try it in the barn one day and see how it goes.

If you don't wear plastic gloves to set the traps there is less chance it will work. Mice will not approach anything new with a human scent on it. These mice have been used by this man for other demos so they are used to his scent but mature wild mice are more cautious.

When I was a kid we always had a mouse infestation. My dad would set up traps to catch the mice but I loved animals so much that I would set off the traps by throwing little green plastic army men at the traps. One time a mouse got caught in one by the leg but was still alive. I felt so bad so I amputated it's broken leg and then made it a home out of a upside down coffee container with a cutout door for him to come n go as he pleased. I came out to feed/water him for a week but stopped seeing him after a while. I love how you made a trap to rid them out of house but to keep them alive and well. Thank you for not just doing this but showing others how too also!
