I remember years ago, watching the film with my family quite a few times (And my memories are hazy on this, but I think my older sister had the Ann doll?). It's pretty cool to see that old franchise inspiring 2 characters in this new animated series. :) Also, (from reading the wiki and twitter) apparently Gooseworx has quite the obsession with the Raggedy Ann film. Great to see her love for that franchise be put into this new animated work of hers. :)

I think it's neat when shows give their characters "rare" expressions that are only used when something serious or terrifying is happening, regardless of what kind of show it is. But it's an especially important feature for this show, as the premise is about not losing your mind. When a character looks noticeably off-model in an emotional fit, people are forced to PAY ATTENTION to that moment, while worrying about what's about to come next...

I like to think that all of the "scrapped" characters for the show are actually characters that have been abstracted and since been put in the cellar. Speaking of the abstracted characters, I wonder what will happen to them at the end of the show, but I hope they become cured in some way and find their way home. I also have a theory that the character's looks are based on their favorite game (board game or video game), toy, or whatever else fun to the person when they were kids. That smaller doll next to Ragatha has quite the resemblance to her in one of the concept art pieces, but this is just a theory and I could be incorrect. But almost all of the characters, whether alive or abstracted (well, *probably* minus Gangle, she's an exception), seemed to be based on a toy or a game. Heck, even the NPCs (the wooden people) look like toys!!
