NEW INFO REGARDING THE MUSIC! - I asked the maker/seller of the cart what happened why the music is so much better and if he used a newer/improved ROM or if he used the regular DKC4 and Jungle Book 2 ROM to make the cart, he confirmed it was that same ROM and said it's because I'm playing on real hardware or something. Figured the person who MADE this into a cartridge would know. - Turns out, for whatever reason he mixed up the regular ROM with this AWESOME Hack Donkey Kong 4 Improvement which fixes the bad music, so no credit does not go to Hummer Team for the OST but rather the fans who converted these tracks into NES format and the folks who added them to the original DKC4 game. I'm a sucker, but this is such a nostalgia title for me that I would pay full price for an HD remake with a classic and fully orchestrated soundtracks.

It looks pretty bad on an emulator, but on a CRT TV on real hardware it's mind blowing how good it actually looks. What I don't understand tho is why it sounds so good, because whenever I play the ROM on emulators it sounds like garbage so either I have bad ROMs and I've tried multiple ROMs or the game isn't properly emulated yet.

I actually made me a physical of Sonic improvement, twice :) one has somari and improvement on it and one just improvement. I made a review for that too, but I haven't uploaded it yet because it's kinda the same as my short on my shorts channel but in my own voice, I might get around to it. It's on my tiktok tho. If I make it longer I will put it up here as well as long form because shorts don't fly on this channel.

@@Gecko1993HogheadIncOfficial yeah the sprite is very well made, I've never seen or had the physical but I know of the hack. Shame the only thing they changed is the sprite tho. Gex in a Sonic style game would have been great and a proper hack could have done wonders with the concept.

I provided concept artwork for a potential Planet X secret zone, and PacManfan was going to implement the additional climbing sprites; but the game ended up being shelved (my actions were partially responsible for the project’s “postmortem”).

I'm pretty sure your playing a Rom-Hack that gives it a improved soundtrack as I seen this game run on real hardware and it does not sound as good.

That can't be it because the ROM I sent the Ali Express guy who made this for me is the same ROM you've seen, the one with jungle book 2 and DKC4. I even asked the guy what happened and if he really did use my ROM and he confirmed it. What I do know is that, the ROM contains several variants of the game and while I haven't been able to activate this particular one on emulators, the ali express guy did it somehow on this cart. Maybe the way he soldered something or something I dunno got him this version. It's odd because when I asked them if they could make this game for me they specifically said they didn't have the ROM and I should send it to them.

As it turns out, you were right, for whatever reason it seems the ali express seller confused the ROM I sent them with an "Improvement" ROM they probably already had and made me this version with the improved music. KZbin won't allow annotations anymore, because of course they don't, they have to remove every useful feature ever. So I pinned a comment explaining the situation and confusion. Donkey Kong Country 2 version of Gangplank Galleon in the K rool boss fight

When we were kids my cousin had an actual NES Donkey Kong II Port, but unlike this one it was more of a tech demo, it had only a few levels and that was it. Shame because that had so much potential to be great too had the developers took the time to polish it up like this one. I was going to make a short on it or something but I don't have a physical copy of it any more and these games don't emulate right, they don't look or sound good when emulated for some reason unlike other NES games which are perfectly fine on emulators.

The ROM isn't hard to find, but it sounds bad on emulators. I don't know if it's because FCEUmm can't emulate this particular sound type or what have you but the game sounds nothing like this on emulators. Visuals are the same, tho of course they look much better on a CRT TV but you should be able to get them to look this good after finding and tinkering with the right shaders.
