@@adamfrey4920I wouldn’t put it down to them, more so waiting on the Masterworks as these numbered volumes seem traditionally to be tied to them with having the intros and the letter pages, though that isn’t 100% the case now. If anything books like Stern & Alien Costume despite having individual value I would think help with the whole “later volumes sell less” thing that’s getting brought up a lot recently. Giving (more) books names rather than higher numbers could help with sales. But what do I know.🤷🏻‍♂️

Yes. ASM 5 and 6 were two of my most anticipated omnis ever. They just capture so much of what I read as a kid. They’re like time machines (and many of us could really use a time machine these days 😂)

These were the first Monthly Spider-man comics i read as a kid ( thanks for translating, JuniorPress). Two longer plots are the spider-slayers and the Mysterio story. So nice to have the Omnibus and the epic. The inclusion of the what if... ? stories is great. Good job Marvel!

My cut-off is around the mid-nineties. I would like to have a complete run of all 616 titles for the first thirty years of that universe. Given that we are due the sixth volume Fantastic Four, I feel that their contemporaries (X-Men, Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Daredevil, Avengers) should all be brought up to volume 6. Subsequent volumes of each title could then printed every two to three months, so that each title gets a new volume, mo longer than two years apart. They could smaller print runs, but these a the foundation of the Marvel Universe and deserve their dues.

Can't wait to get my copy! Thank you for the overview. I'm assuming the mapping was done this way to put the entire Wolfman run in one omni, like how vol 5 ends with Wein ending. The way they mapped this one reminds me of how they mapped some of the Conan Omnis. I would've preferred this volume fill the gap between vol 5 and the Stern Omni, but you can't always get what you want.

My guess would be to tie in with the next Spidey film. Thats what they are doing with FF6. I think that film is mid 2026

Great to finally have Vol 6. My copy of Amazing Spider-Man Omnibus volume 1 was published in 2007. How have I been collecting Spidey Omnis for 18 years!!??

I collected the original issues from my local drug store when I was a kid. Walgreens didn't exist yet and drug stores were owned by people not corporations.

People talk about how comics are dying because of content or price and they have good points, but I honestly believe that if single issues were still sold wherever magazines are sold, they’d still be thriving. The number of kids who would read comics if they saw them every time they went to the grocery story would be huge compared to kids who can only get comics if they go to a specialty comic shop.

I've been waiting for this book for a while, so glad it's finally out. Still puzzled that, for all the hype the book does about having the Black Cat, they didn't put her on any of the covers. Don't get me wrong, the other covers are great and all. I actually really like the Ketih Pollard 186 cover a lot. I'm just surprised they didn't go with Asm 194 as a dm or an original piece or a homage or something.

I bought the Stern OB as I had no reason to think they’d be planning future ASM OBs that are going to double dip on it , As obviously both an ASM OB 7 and 8 will now do. If I had known that I wouldn’t have gotten the Stern OB. But now I can’t see myself buying 7 and 8. I’m a Spider Man fan - Not a fan of Marvel’s plan/lack of plan that offers this 100% undesired (by me) double dipping . I’m not paying for Omnibuses to get only a few issues I don’t already have in that format. 🤷‍♂️✌️ “Thanks”, Marvel.

That article about Lee in Japan should be interesting. I wonder if they talk about him wanting to bring Sun Vulcan to America, but change all of the actor footage to Americans while keeping the Japanese action footage in tact, only to be told that would never sell. Something Haim Saban would prove them wrong a decade later. Anyway, I am excited for this. I know nothing about the Spidey issues in this book beyond Black Cat making her first appearance. I hope we don't have to wait too long for V7 and I wonder if V7 will cover everything leading into the Stern omni.

Definetly getting this even though it's not the best material but still an essential part of Spidey history. My second most anticipated Omnibus of the year, right after Spectacular by DeMatteis! I still think Marvel screwed up when they didn't include #206 here. Yes it's in Roger Stern Omnibus but it's the final part of the story so now this Omnibus ends without the conclusion. Also adding those What If issues makes no sense... Next we need Spectacular vol 2 and Marvel Team-up vol 1

I plan to get this omni, but after this I'll probably go the epic route for everything between this and the clone saga (not counting the two thick Alien Costume Saga trades). I got issue 206 to bridge the gap between this omni and the following epic collection. My overall stopping point for Spider-Man (616) is Beyond since I'm not a fan of what Zeb Wells did and the manner of which it was done. Will only continue if Peter and MJ get married again (which a lot have people have been saying since One More Day so it'll be a while if they ever do it).

This is the period just before I started collecting ASM from the racks myself. I had a friend that had a few of these latter issues but even as time went on Marvel Tales reprints (the best! - they even repro'd the original covers!) never got this far so really looking forward to having these to fill a personal gap. Still not up for order after quick checks so hoping soon.

It really blows my mind that Marvel treated Conan better (in terms of consecutive omnibuses) than their core characters. Seems to me that there would be no downside for releasing ASM Omnibuses 1-10, and keeping them in-print. Not sure if I'll get this, as shelf-space is limited and the 90's are more of my style of storytelling.

I’m collecting both the number books and the creator/event books. Im very curious on how they’ll map out the rest of the series. Especially the late 80s era of spider man. Some stories start crossing into Spectacular and Web of Spider Man.

It may not be the case for this, but a lot of times print runs get smaller and smaller the higher the volume number is, so that's worth taking into consideration.

Very sad that Marvel refused to close the gap with the Stern omni after people asked. They treat their fans like such garbage sometimes. Would not be surprised if it turns out there is some major printing error in this to put salt in the wound.

I jump around a bit as far as cut offs go. For Spider-Man, I’ll be collecting the vols up to the end of the Clone Saga, skip to Brand New Day (the next chapter stuff is unnecessary and JMS’ run gets too mystical for my liking - when Spidey should have more of a science focus that dips into the mystical occasionally. Also, hated One More Day, but I have to say that BND is really good), skip Dan Slott’s run (don’t care for a bulk of his run - including the Ramos’ art of this era, Spider Island, Spider-Verse (too mystical, again. The movie version is way better), and Superior), collected Nick Spencer and Beyond (for the Reilly love), and skipping Zeb Wells (I collected single issues before I realized how bad the run was shaping up to be).

Just wanted to put out there that a Vol 7 could (should🙏) only double-dip *one* issue with the Roger Stern Omni with #206, right after Vol 6 ends. Just in case anyone catastrophizes things at the mere mention of “double-dip”, deep breath boys.✨

After listening to the description, Spidey sense says Hard no! while I loved volumes 4 & 5, some of my favorite 20th century comics , Conway & Wein were outstanding, featuring great art by Ross Andru, so why am I stopping, it's not a knock on the talent but the collection itself, way too much filler for the What If, and Calendar, and interview, not enough of the actual Amazing Spider-Man issues for a $100 book and when you take away the filler that seems closer to an epic collection than an omnibus.
