You should look up "mother trees" in forests then. They've actually shown the big mother trees absorb the nutrients from the sun & then intentionally feed it to their babies that are too short to reach the sun themselves :) Just like in Avatar, but real! It's an unintentional way for plants to avoid extinction. Once humans find a good use for a plant and begin cultivating it, that plant is very unlikely to ever go extinct. Look at tomatoes. It would take an act of God or the extinction of humans to make the tomato plant run the risk of going extinct.

I was a plant once, I was tripping on shrooms at the time. It was a beautiful sunny day and I was lying down in the grass of my friends garden. It felt like I was in a David Attenborough documentary on the garden of eden, birds flying all around and I even saw a pheasant. Lying down in the grass with no shirt I felt the sun beating down on my back,I was photosynthesizing and growing roots. I wasn't moving but I could feel myself growing along with the plants that surrounded me. There was one particular white clover flower that I was focusing with my 'third eye',I felt like we were sharing information but I just couldn't comprehend it. When the trip was over I was kinda depressed, my incarnation as a plant was the happiest I had ever been.

@evanraymond8728 4 жыл бұрын
@@haniejoycemallorca1239.. Interesting, I did some research on it, and got the story behind it. Well, once upon a time, there was a princess named Kaniawati. Because of her beauty, many princes from other regions came to propose her. But she was so shy, so she repeatedly reject them, she didn't even reveal her face for them. Nevertheless, somehow, a prince Jaka Amparan made it into her room, and accidentally saw her face to face. Due to her excessive shame, she fell down and faint. Local people linked this story with Mimosa Pudica, they thought this princess has similar act and behavior, just like this plant. So they called this plant "Putri Malu" which means "Shy Princess".

This is probably a longer response than you need or want, but... No, it doesn't really. The "take that vegans" comment or any comment anywhere that is directed toward vegans is done to poke fun at how persistent vegans are in imposing their ideas and lifestyle onto other people. I personally don't know many vegetarians who constantly belittle people for eating meat/seafood the way they want to and are more conscious of their own diet. Tl;dr nah you're good.

2:10 There is a fruit native to Brazil called "pequi" (I don't know if it has a translation). It has this same natural defense where it expells a lot of small spikes when bitten. So be warned, if you come to Brazil (or see a yellow overgrown bean), do not bite pequi under any circunstances. Its okay to eat the yellow slimy-like substance in the surface, just be careful.

Enzyme activity. Especially pineapples. That enzyme can actually "digest" your mouth, which might be where that numbness comes from. That being said, Kiwis and pineapples are extremely healthy for you.

The mimosa species shown is Mimosa pudica. It has little spikes on it. I was in Trinidad may years ago, and made the mistake of walking bare legged through a patch of them. The resulting scratches combined with sunburn was a painful reminder for the next three days. Ouch!

It can be extremely relevant to talk about the enormous and almost unknown impact of mycorrhizae on the defense of plants to understand what plants do (exchange with mycorrhizae) and what mycorrhizae return to the plant (protection, energy, communication via the mycorrhizae network). An episode only on this subject could fascinate many people. Thank you for the quality of your videos.

Sheep and blackberries and other thorny similar plants are an interesting mix. A blackberry stand can capture a sheep so well that it will not escape and slowly starve to death if a human doesn't come along to free it. Once it dies, of course, it will fertilize the stand. Not really a "defense", but a coincidental offense. Or is it?

I just watched this video in 2022 because I was looking for anything to support a theory I have made. I have a large Bur Oak , Quercus macrocarpa in my yard that has dropped an alarming number of leaves over the past 24 hours. Upon examination, virtually all of the dropped leaves have kermes scale on them. I am wondering if the oak could be aborting the infected leaves as a defense to the infestation, dropping them before the scale reach the crawler stage. I would love to hear your thoughts on my theory.
