The American Avocet: Everything You Want to Know

I participated in the Galveston Christmas Bird Count in December. At Bolivar Flats there was an extensive raft of Avocets. We estimated 1,400 and they said sometimes the count is much higher. They overwinter there. Not that long until they will be heading north!

Wow! I've visited there a few times and saw maybe a couple of hundred, but nowhere near that many! I want to go back soon! I'm going to try right after the spring break crowd leaves. 🤣

Thank you, Kevin! I hope you get to see one someday! And I'm working on a lot of videos currently. I've been sick (colds, flu, etc. 🤣) recently, so, since I'm stuck inside for the most part, I'm working as much as possible.
