The American Dream Ep. 1 - Wild Mechanic

Welcome to the series Wild Mechanic. A series that combines nature and cool old machinery. Join me, Magnus on small adventures into different habitats. In this first episode I take my first dream machine, a John Deere 110 garden tractor out for a trip. Inspired by the true story about the elderly man Alvin Straight, and his long trip on a lawn mower. I intend to do somewhat the same, just on a little smaller scale. Lay back and jump on for a ride in the peaceful Norwegian countryside!
And as fall is coming closer, some vintage plowing getting done.

As a born and raised Iowa boy it warms my heart and makes me proud of where I come from to hear your story. As a young man alvins story also touched my heart, and with my father we took care of our 5 acre pasture with a pair of beautiful jd 110 tractors. Like yourself, I had pictures of them on my walls. I remember having books with old tractors littering my room, even John Deere children’s books when I was really young. To this day years later even after my fathers passing I hold near and dear the pair of John deer garden tractors from my childhood. I thank you worlds over for making this wonderful video. Amongst all the American infighting often it takes an outsider to appreciate the true beauty that is America, and you summed it up perfectly in your video. Much cheers!

What a great video! I really enjoyed listening to you discuss your passion! I grew up and still live about a 40minute drive (by car lol) from where Alvin’s brothers home. So that movie always was special for me as well and helped spark an interest in the old John Deere round fenders :) Thanks for sharing!

Hello, I have always been fascinated with anything old and mechanical as well and farm machinery was no exception. I also remember first seeing "A Straight Story" and I have fond memories pretending to be Alvin Straight driving my 1961 IH Cub Cadet original to my grandparents who lived about a mile from my house. Now, years later I'm hooked on collecting old outdoor power equipment and I still love going on short "roadtrips" with my garden tractors.
