Depends on your quals getting out. I'm working at the equivalent of a 5 lvl right now. The equivalent of a 7lvl makes more. Its got some decent opportunities and benefits as well. the pay is only one part of the package. The work is ironically easier than expected, but my experience in mil was harder than what the younger people today seem to go through. Maybe thats just a stateside vs overseas thing. Id rather not get into specifics unless we go to DM's or something.

When Eisenhower made that fateful speech, over 65% of the American GDP was spent purely on the Military. This happened as a result of the US unpreparedness for the Korean War and the subsequent re-arming that needed to take place to get us out of the Post World War II slump we had fallen into. I don’t believe the vast majority of people that quote Eisenhower’s speech actually understand that fact and how it really has very little to do with the MIC of today, which contrary to popular belief isn’t actually a gateway to infinite cash and actually has quite a low payout compared to stuff like Social Media.
