Where they arrested him on murder charges, he took PCP when he killed his family he thought they were all demons..i been in this house when i was friends with the Defeo family. and i never felt any demonic beings. the Lutz family made up that story of demons in the house.the real reason is because they lost there lease on the house payment and Mr Lutz was a gambler so he spent the money. so they made up this story because they knew of the Defeo murders. which they sold there story to movie producers..that's the real story don't believe this shit there telling you all. i remember the front sign in the yard which said .HIGH HOPES . which is gone now the classic photo of the house really is the side of the house facing the street.....

I'm familiar with it's reputation, seen the movies, read about it. Unless you've had first hand "close encounters" of the paranormal kind, I find it hard to believe that it's really haunted by restless spirits. In my opinion, it suffers from a bad rep because of the murders; if you "expect" a place to be "haunted", your imagination will accommodate you, eventually. If I had the $$$ I'd buy it and turn it into a Bed'n Breakfast, or what the British call a Gracious Inn. It would do well as a tourist attraction. But don't misunderstand, it grieves me that murders took place in that 🏠 house. I would set up a memorial chapel there in memory of the "murdered" family, and perhaps set it up in such a way that people can come and mourn the loss of loved ones, victims of murder, suicide, etc. 💓✝Toni O'Brien Ready Writer 📝

Its funny how the house is back up for sale once again. The owners say it's because of on lookers . Yet they knew that was going to take place due to its history and having had been told that upon buying it. Now their not able to take the on lookers any more ? I find that questionable . In fact it's a good story to tell so they can sell it and get their money back out of it. Otherwise that's not going to happen. Ok for you none believers . Go buy the house then . Just don't have children in case you find your wrong just to be safe for their sake . Dont place them in danger because YOU don't believe. That house never keeps an owner and it always comes back up for sell. Now there's has to be a good reason for that in and of itself. There's far more to the story then meets the eye here , far more . How does getting rid it and building a new one do any good since it's the ground the house was built and sits on ? Being the basement is just under the house itself were the evil is known to be. Called the gate way to hell. None believers , may I ask you something here please . If any of you do buy this place , and strange things started to happen that you are not one you know could explain . What would you do then ? There's things in this world that happens all the time that can not be explained . And since the writer of this story gave it a so called bad rap. Do you see him buying it , NO ! Are even going back into it ? NO ! And how many years now has it been this story of his has been being told ? And Just Now he's coming out that is wasn't ture ? A bit odd don't you think ? No something is wrong here , very wrong. Just think about it all . Something funny is going on here . As for the paranormal , yes I do believe in it in fact . I'm 62 and just a normal as the rest of you. Sorry nothing is at all wrong with me , not a thing . My mind is sharp , I am just a believer in the paranormal that's all.

It is questionable why a family would up and bolt from the property after less than a month if the intention was about creating a tale that would sell. As a young family, it was a home that had been priced as it had because of what occurred. It would have been an opportunity to be in a great neighbourhood in a large home at the same time lifting themselves up socially and economically. Attempting to suggest it had been for the sake of books and movies is likely to try and remove the stigma.

Must have when it off the market. Zillow says not for sale now. Last bought in 2017 for $605k but appraised at only $563k (only lol) wonder why they wanted to sell so soon?🤔

They changed them as well as the address because of the weirdo "ghost hunters" who kept showing up who are far scarier than anything else about that house.

I think the windows is what made the house as well.

I would love to buy it and open it as a Bed and Breakfast. There are so many out there that want to know if the story is true you would be booked every night

Beautiful home but, the thing I hate about buying the house is the hundreds of people who come to the house wanting to see the horror first hand. Many drunks & crazy people every month who are knocking on your door at 2 AM demanding to see the spooks - no thank you I will buy a home with no worldwide reputation.

Is there any up dates on the sale of the house? Like to hear more from the neighbors, that live close by the place. It's rich in history, and has a sinister charm too it..lol😄

I just looked it up on Zillow it looks like it was sold, 2010, 2016, and just sold in 2017 I wonder why people didn’t stay long? Something must have happened there, if I had money I’d buy it and make it a haunted bed and breakfast 👹

All the victims were found in their beds. Don't believe me? Look at the crime scene photos. What are the odds one person could go upstairs downstairs room to room and shoot everyone by himself without anyone getting out of bed and running for help? One police reports inconsistencies in gunpowder residue on the nightgown of one ofhis sisters. Did she help? Was it supposed to be a murder Suicide pack?

My former boss lived in that area. Sometimes ghost hunters were hanging out there. Hans holzer researched it. They found an exposed head. Played football or soccer with it. Things went downhill from there. Although a guy moved in once .nothing happened and he sued jay anson. Author. Haunts of san jose

I don't understand why this house is still standing. How or why would anyone want to live in a house where a whole family was murdered? Its not only horrifying but disrespectful as well.
