You're too cynical. The look of the house and events that took place are iconic, and it's awesome that it has the tagline "based on a true story." The families left an impact on pop culture and served a purpose. I mean, you know Santa Claus isn't real, so do you get mad at Christmas time and try to break the spirit of little kids?
@sean8102
@sean8102 10 ай бұрын
@@tommyhatcher3399 I get what you mean about just enjoying a horror movie and agree about that. And any horror movie with the "based on a true story" should be taken with a grain of salt. Not like their is any legal requirement to claim that like the Blair Witch movie's whole gimmick, and I love that movie BTW. Despite knowing NONE of it is real I can still really get into it and creped out. But it doesn't change the fact the Lutzes were completely full of shit, no surprise. They were going bankrupt at the time they "fled" the house BTW, gee wonder why they would do that at the same time they didn't have the money to keep making payments on it. Gee wonder why no one that's lived their since has had a problem with the place. Guess because ghosts aren't real. Shocking. It's actually a really really nice house. Doesn't look the least bit creepy. Honestly in its current form its not even recognizable as "the Amityville house". Last time it was on the market it was going for $850,000.
@MST3Kfan1
@MST3Kfan1 5 ай бұрын

@dx1450
@dx1450 5 жыл бұрын
Yep, I've read all about how they invented the entire thing. Lutz's business was going under and he likely found himself unable to keep making the payments on the house, so they cooked up this scheme about it being haunted by evil spirits. Which would explain the part about the brother-in-law's wedding money coming up missing. In the book it talked about that, and later it said that some of the money showed up, but not all of it. I'm guessing George Lutz stole it all, felt guilty about taking it all after the groom was panicking, and put some of it back later.

1:25 Hey now, taking liberties with horror films and "true" stories isn't only bad when new movies do it... It's bad that new movies STILL to do it knowing their audiences want a more straight forward version of a story. I get that telling a true story note for factual note would be boring in most cases, but you would think with today's endless technology, it wouldn't be impossible to tell an intriguing true story without having to straight up lie, like most do. Then there's stories like Titanic where you can do whatever you want as long as the tragedy happens. Even if you end the story right when they hit the iceberg, you KNOW what follows is horrible. Hell, I don't care if it's about a striving circus clown in training who longs to walk again, or cartoon mice or whatever. As long as that ship is going down, the impact from the factual part of the story will hit you a little bit

@@joelbaldwin4051 Lmao, the point is (for better or worse), you can tell whatever story you want around a factual event, and people will still feel the impact when you show the event. I guess the best example I can give, other than cartoon mice, would be Pearl Harbor. Total dog shit story that has 0% to do with the event. Yet, look at the reviews when it came out. "Fantastic!" "A Masterpiece!" Why? Well, I will personally crowd fund and film Pearl Harbor II: The Revenge if someone can prove it was because of Ben Affleck's love triangle
@joelbaldwin4051
@joelbaldwin4051 5 жыл бұрын
4Legacy Yes, absolutely. I completely agree. With movies like Titanic and Pearl Harbor, if they were going to make them at all, historical accuracy would've been nice. One major mistake, regarding Pearl Harbor, was having Michael Bay direct. Roger Ebert wrote a hilarious review of that film in which he called it "a movie about a love triangle set against the backdrop of the bombing of Pearl Harbor" which is a completely accurate description.

This one sadly hasn't aged too well. Today, It looks like a made for TV movie. Brolin and Kidder were both good, but it just wasn't that scary. It's hard to believe this was such a huge hit at the time. It was the summer of 79's highest grossing film!

@@enlightenednormie242 Yeah, the second one was actually a bit of an improvement over the first film. It had some really eye popping practical effects and creature makeup.

I love this movie. I'm a big fan of old horror that's minimalist but heavy on mood and atmosphere.

Me too! Archive 81 is a good modern creep out show! (plus it's one 10 episode season and done) A good old spooky flick is The Sentinel, from 1977 👍

I remember reading somewhere that when the murders are in the house took place, the gunshots didn’t wake anyone which I find odd, wouldn’t a rifle discharges in your own home when she wake you up? Even if you were heavy sleeper?

Would almost like to spoof the movie where the same shit happens but they cheerfully ignore it all the way through:..beds levitating? More fun than a trampoline! Black gunk in the toilets? They paint the whole bathroom black to match! Tons of flies, they fill the room with Venus flytraps, etc.

18:35 Well the NEW Godzilla is Coming out right? Gotta watch that and then release it the day before the movie comes out. And then you can watch Godzilla in the theaters the day its released. Then do a comparison video between the 2 movies and give a final verdict. That would be cool.
