I feel like it’s one of those things where a kid saw something creepy, and it stuck with them (as creepy things tend to do) and when all that bad stuff happened, and they remembered the creepy comment, and it ‘clicked’ for them. Then other people saw it and started investigating, and then bad stuff happened to them too, coincidentally after they saw the comment, and then they had someone or something to blame for what could’ve been absolutely nothing.
