From what I gathered from the various tidbits of lore, Kebshi always seemed to me to be the result of a failed colonization attempt, with the ships for some reason crashing to the moon, and the survivors attempting to construct a civilisation from the ruins, but succumbing to consecutive AI rebellions, loosing more and more technology in the process.

@@nnk_ll2 They were the original colonists and their direct descendants still in posession of high technology. They were the ones who cybernetically modified the original inhabitants of the planet, the hivers, and attempted to utilize the skeletons to build their civilization. My point comes from the fact the the areas that show extensive habitation by a techmological sociezy are a lot smaller than where we find megastructural wreckage, which at least to me appears a lot like spaceship components.
@noellesato3113 жыл бұрын
There's also the possibility that much of this moon used have far higher water levels and was changed by several terraforming attempts. There are the large urchin-like balls near Squin, massive ribcages near Catun and Mourn, the desert sands seeming like a barren sea-floor without the water, and that there are only two types of fish left in this tidal-locked moon. The Ashlands are also reminiscent of deep-sea geyser plumes. The titanic Leviathans may also have originated from the sea. The skeletons and behemoths would have been really useful to colonizers in operating in hazardous environments but perhaps their terraforming attempts only got halfway through. Venge still burns under some kind of orbital bombardment, but the random pattern of beams may indicate more of an industrial operation than a military one.. Perhaps the absolutely gigantic frame around Mourn used to be the colony ship. Much of the human population may have died in the crash, the skeletons and automata they left on the moon during the terraformation process becoming the majority surviving population. Still don't know what the hell hivers are though. Its possible they may have been remnants of the great enemy that the First Empire fought. Perhaps the cybernetic augmentations on the queens hold a hint to their origins. Its also completely possible that the planet that Kenshi orbits is somewhere of interest, old maps depicting unknown locations may not be as fictional as the people on the moon think... Well just have to wait for Kenshi 2 it seems...

I believe they cover up the actions of their past because of shame, and the absolute disgust they would feel for themselves if people found out. Many skeletons killed themselves before the second empire was founded because of 2 reasons, this did not have a purpose and they are logical creatures, so they didn't really have anything to do but kill themselves and the second reason is out of guilt for what they did to humans (who most likely invented them). As for who remembers him, ironically it's likely Stobe is actually Okran, the god of the Holy Nation. It seems Stobe´s sacrifice has much to do with the skeletons attempt to destroy humans, i believe he saw that they were taking things too far and did what he could to save who he could. By visiting black desert city you can see some skeletons who are broken from grieve, most likely regret for what they did during the fall of the first empire, which we can assume to be mass genocide. This theory is given strenght by the fact that Skeletons commited mass suicide after.

The first empire was doomed after Obedience because of the Skeletons, who I assume tried to wipe out all life with these bio weapons because they were afraid of humanity. Stobe though, sacrificed himself to end this war and save humanity and the planet. His sacrifice inspired Cat-lon and the skeletons to repent and found the second empire to reguide humanity to greatness again. My head cannon is that humans colonized the world of Kenshi thousands of years before the events of the game. Skeletons are just synthetic human minds created or copied, then stored in robotic bodies; think Battlestar Galactica. Hivers are the original inhabitants of the world and jus recently resurfaced (possibly literally). The Shek were created by the second empire to act as peace keepers and are a subspecies of human more capable of surviving the worlds climate/wildlife. Ashlanders are a natural adaptation to the world and another human subspecies.

What I love about the unique world of Kenshi is that it simply wasn't a single disaster that laid them low, it was an entire series of calamities. From their loss of communication to the Empire that seeded them, to the natural plagues and environmental disasters leading to the collapse of the 1st Empire to the faults of the 2nd Empire policing their own people to the point of extinction. Everything was not the fault of the celestial body of Kenshi itself. It all started with losing that connection to the peoples that seeded life on Kenshi itself. Kenshi is confirmed to be a moon and perhaps an intergalactic war, rebellion or alien, led to Kenshi being forgotten. Or perhaps something much more tumultuous or deadly? We don't even know what star system they reside in. Are they even in the Milky Way galaxy? We know now that the sea levels were lower due to Kenshi 2 blog posts but that's still going to be set in the 2nd Empire's Age. Which leads me to believe that Kenshi was heavily terraformed and perhaps the majority of all of that collapsed when we 1st lost that connection. Who knows what else has been lost to the sands of time. Or much more appropriate: The Dunes of Kenshi.

I hate how Kenshi does not have a story mode revealing the lore and actually having a goal beyond "Survive or Thrive" kinda deal. This lore is really cool and finding out about it after visiting places like Obedience makes sense. But knowing most of this is required to be dug up and 90% of the time you're getting snipped by blood spiders, ninja running for weed or eaten by bone dogs really makes me sad there isnt a deep story mode within the game. I can tell it was a more budget focused issues followed by its fairly flawed engine that makes things like cutscenes and voice acted dialogue impossible. I just hope Kenshi is more of a testing grounds and we get a sequel (or atleast spiritual sequel) of this beautiful game.

I personally found it refreshing to discover relics and clues along the way. It makes sense that a society utterly destroyed twice would have its history mostly destroyed. Makes it more rewarding to know information if you have to work hard to get it. But yeah I wish there was more dialogue and story either way...

Thank you for not using yucky voices for this lore video. So many of them do and it pulls me out of the story.

The first race isn't confirmed to be humans like you mentioned at the very beginning, but it probably is. Otherwise awesome video 👍

i wander where you find info that it is not a planet but moon? would love to discus about it more :) i did not found any info about it anywhere :)
@ex75144 жыл бұрын
You can see that the bigger of the two “moons” in the sky does not move like the smaller, more typical sized moon. This suggests that the body the observer (your character) is standing on is not a planet but a tidally locked moon. I believe devs confirmed this but I could be wrong.

No idea if this would be reasonable or possible… but would it not be rad to find a functional space elevator?

Where do I find these informations anyways? ... I know that you can trigger different conversations if you go the the Archive in Worlds End and talk with the Skeleton as a Skeleton...but other than that.

Libary in Black Scratch is a good starting point you can get Most of the Lore books there. If you have a Skelton in your Squad it will also Sometimes tell you parts of it.
