Lewis could actually beat the Army of the Fallen, they just don't realize it. Anytime the game says "damage", it means the literal damage, whether it's the 2x bonus, or resistances, or whatever. It's not talking about the stats themselves. So if Lewis fought the legion with the Gorgon, Duncan would be dealing 5 damage, which multiplies by two to 10 damage. Given support by his other legions, Lewis could actually handily beat Duncan's legion in basically every stat category. And that's not mentioning the use of rituals and such.

True, but this is assuming Duncan now doesn't use that new item slot on his legion to fix that. He almost slipped up and told Lewis that he could win but he backpedaled at the end, so I think he knows. Another item of equal power to that ark and that legion of the fallen would be an absolute menace.

The best thing about this game is the fact every action has a small delay - war decs take multiple turns as you demand, get refused, set your vendetta and then let the other player see it. Always means everyone has a few turns to react and plot, rather than just losing a war because someone's army showed up on your doorstep and you can't hope to build units in time. Not that such isn't more realistic to real life, but this being a game and all I prefer the gamey aspect of it.

It was really weird to get used to, but it has such a sweet flow to it too that after a few games I was like "I wish more games did this."

The setting is such a great excuse to have such politicking mechanics, not realistic? Too bad, it's a bureaucratic devil in hell. Map too big? Boom, recursive. Need varied interactions? Boom, ritual magic. Wonderful to see a 4X-style game where power isn't defined by a tech tree and wonderful to see all the pieces fit together so thematically. I would love to see more of this game. I like watching this game, but it annoys me when they keep skipping the animated part at the end of the turn. I get that it must be boring for them to sit and watch it all, but it's pretty much the only way the audience gets to see the results of the players' actions, and we miss important events (like Lewis taking the Testament of Tyrants in this episode) because the players are impatient. Really appreciate them playing other 4X games on this channel though, thanks folks!

To be a little fair to them, I find myself skipping without thinking just because I can, even when I don't want to. Accidentally skipped my beeg shootah taking pandaemonium in a game cause button glow and press button instinct too high xD

@@OmnipotentNoodle Duncan definantly knows, and even tried to correct Lewis at the end there, but Lewis is just CONVICNED that it doubles the Infernal Stat and not Double the Damage.

I didn't realize how small the map in this game actually is until this video, where I noticed that Pyrion is both to Duncan's immediate right AND his immediate left.

I find Daltos comment about civ 5 being more board game like than civ 6 very odd, given how 6 specifically went for a more board gamey, abstracted aesthetic, heck it even uses Cards as a thing. Now there is an argument of taste over 6 vs 5, but I don't think this is it.

As much as I love the yogs and watch all content on this channel, they really are old men when it comes to civ 6. it's just different from civ 5 and even if it has improved in a lot of ways it isn't what they're used and they don't want to learn how mechanics have changed so they trash it instead (Duncan notably being the worst offender). I think this is also why Lewis dominated many of their civ 6 games because he got a better grasp of the new game while most of them still played it like it was civ 5. I do understand if they play civ 5 for stability reasons though... civ 6 multiplayer is often still unplayable with a group of friends.

I disagree with this. I find it a similar difference between ck2 and ck3 - both ck3 and civ 6 are upgraded games (ck3 probably being a better upgrade than civ 6) but they are very different from their predecessors, with civ 6 going in noticeably different directions to civ v whilst ck3 built upon the core systems of the franchise. I personally prefer ck2 to 3, and civ 5 to 6: partly for stylistic reasons, but also because the later editions genuinely like like different games than their predecessors, and have become more complex with different systems that I personally didn’t feel the game needed. They are good games, but distinct games removed from their predecessors, and it’s ok to prefer one older game to a new, different game. Not because of being “old men” but because the new, complex and different systems don’t fill the same hole as the more simple older games, and because it’s a simple matter of preference. Sometimes more is less.

I think it might also have to do with feature creep. For example, if you place a city in civ5, there are 3 or 4 things you need to take into account, depending on your civ. This makes it so you can plan your city in max 1 or 2 minutes. In Civ6 your city location has to deal with the things of civ5, plus fresh water, plus appeal, plus district locations, plus exclusive wonders (and how those wonders interact with the districs, and how those wonders and districs remove workable tiles). If you want to place a good city in civ6, it takes a lot more time, knowledge and experience. Maybe this is what daltos means with boardgames, those can't be too complex without becomes so niche its near impossible to get enough players together.

This game is a lot less complex when you realize you can basically just spaff out tributes and just endlessly spiral into 6 orders and a gigamob by this time in the game, walking around roflstomping pandaemonium *and* the other fortresses. Assuming obviously you keep that somewhat undercover and don't get giga allianced immediately, but that's a fun spiral still

Steam really doesn't have any restrictions on the nicknames. They can repeat, so there are probably dozens of "Lewis" on Steam. Also, they can be changed at any time. And that's Pyrion, not Spiff :D
