A perfect study in contrast, Zacharias sought a sign, while completely missing the wonder of God's grace and love, whereas Mary understood the wonder of God's word and was willing to trust God for His care and provision, despite the outward circumstances.

Thanks for the scrips and explanation. One thing thou, I do not think that Mary was chose by her faith rather the Bible emphasizes that no one important Virgin Mary receives of the Jesus baby with such a faith comes from the Lord. Faith and obedience even prepared by the Lord, jojoba jaireh. Amen.

Is Mary really a nobody? She was hailed by the angel Gabriel and said that she is full of Grace ( how many of us is full of Grace? ). And how many of us has the Lord with us? And how many of us, magnifies the Lord? In the book of Quran, Mary is the same as Miriam and her name is mentioned the most in the Quran. The story of Mary (Miriam) is in the Quran. Yes !…God’s Word tells us clearly …Zacharias …and Elizabeth knew …( Luke 1: 40-70 ; Luke 1: 78 ) …Simeon knew …( Luke 2: 25- 32 )…Anna knew …( Luke 2: 36- 39 )…and Joseph was also blessed to know …( Matthew 1 : 18 -25 ).

Zacharias was within the Holy of Holies when he questioned the angel Gabriel. You can question an angel’s message and validity anywhere except in the Holy of Holies. That per a Levite Priest.

The scriptures state that Zacharias saw the angel on the right side of the altar and there is no altar in the Holy of Holies. There are only two altars in the temple, the altar of sacrifice outside, and the altar of incense in the Holy Place. Not sure your source, but the scriptures are very clear on the matter. See Luke 2:8-12 below. 8 Zechariah was on duty with his division of priests. As he served in God’s presence, 9 he was chosen by priestly custom to go into the Lord’s temple to burn incense. 10 All the people were praying outside while he was burning incense. 11 Then, to the right of the incense altar, an angel of the Lord appeared to him. 12 Zechariah was troubled and overcome with fear.

Zacharias, of course, was an old man (whatever age that was in those days, but beyond the usual years of having kids) . . . and maybe somewhat disillusioned by life. Mary young and less worn down by the years. But before making too hard a judgment of Zach, note that the angel doesn't say he is cursed, but that he will be struck dumb. And maybe that had something to do, also, with convincing those within Z's sphere, that the child John was indeed sent by God. The people outside the Temple realized when he couldn't speak, that he had seen a vision. His neighbors witnessed the miracle of his being able to speak once he pronounced that the child would be called John. If he had not been struck dumb, some other explanation for the birth of John might have been surmised. God in His mercy gave Mary someone, an older wiser woman, to share her news with . . . someone who would understand. Who else could she have confided in? She went to see Eliz immediately. Stayed 3 months, so it would be unlikely she left before the birth of John . . . perhaps was a great help for Eliz. Then she had to go back home and face her family, and her betrothed (and everybody in town). Joseph, being a good man, did not want to subject her to the harsh judgments of society, was deeply troubled, and racked with not knowing what to do. God sends an angel in a dream to calm his fears, and he was willing to go ahead and marry her, despite the gossip and criticisms they would have to endure. Note that when he had to go to Bethlehem to register for taxes, he took her with him. He didn't leave her exposed to the comments, possible snubs, etc. He really cared for her, and for Jesus. He was really a good guy.

For me, the answers of Zechariah and Mary were the same in front of the angel of the Lord. both came from human ingenuity and the immaturity of the mind. but I have always thought that God is softer and sweeter with the feminine gender, than with the masculine one. while a zacarias leaves mute, Maria explains and reassures more. In a society that is being hit by feminism, these two passages should close the mouth to more than one woman.

Mary was a young WOMAN( around 17 years old) not a little girl. The daughter of Jairus Thabatha was 12 and a little girl. The daughters of Lot were young women probably the same age of Mary(17 years old). It is a myth that Mary would have been 12 years old. Her maturity shows 17 or even older.

The Bible clearly states that a 12 years old girl is considered a little girl not a WOMAN. A VIRGIN was a WOMAN who never knew a man sexually. The term Virgin in the Bible refers to a young woman or even an older woman as long as she never knew a man sexually. It is not a 12 years old girl. This is ridiculous. Even by Mary's behavior and maturity and ability to travel by herself long distances shows us that she was at least 17(or even older). The Gospels clearly states she had a sister that could have been older than her(Salome, the Mother of John and James and wife of Zebedee).

It's so annoying when people refer to Mary as a young girl. Mary was not a young girl, she was a woman. Gabriel addressed Mary as woman, not young girl. A young boy is not a man, a young girl is not a woman. Mary was chosen because she was highly favored, not because it followed some man made custom. God does not have to follow the customs of man.

Mary was the last of the line of King David, like Joseph was the last of the line of King David. Jesus was born of Mary as the son of David, and adopted by Joseph, son of Joseph the dreamer and son of King David. The Jews believe Messiah is both son of Joseph and son of David. In Luke we see Joseph the dreamer like Jacob's son Joseph the dreamer. Joseph adopted Jesus, so God can adopt all of us. The spirit of adoption Paul said. Joseph was the son of Jacob who forgave all his father's house for all that was done to him and for being put in prison, like Jesus came down to the prison of the earth to forgive. Jeremiah in lamentations describes the prisoners of the earth. Whether you are imprisoned in hell or are alive on the surface, the earth is a prison in God's eyes. We need to be redeemed.

I must say, I like your videos. They're well done. I wonder if it would be harder for you to make a video like this on your Book of Mormon? Since there's not one shred of archeological evidence for any of it. Drop that phony book and just stick with the one and only Holy Bible, it's enough. I hate to see all the very nice LDS people separated from God for believing a fairy tale. I wonder how many LDS members actually read the entire Bible, then read the book of mormon and say to themselves "This makes sense"....They don't, it's tradition...

Glad you have enjoyed the videos! That is always nice to know! I actually also work for an organization called Book of Mormon Central and produce videos for them as well. We have hundreds of videos, many on "evidences". You can check out BMC Studios on KZbin for some of our evidence videos (we also have another channel called Book of Mormon Central with other videos as well). That said, comparing the Bible and the Book of Mormon is not really an apple to apple comparison. The Book of Mormon has only been around for about 190 years, the Bible has been around for (depending on the book) several thousand years. There are billions of Christians and Jews (meaning that more people will be looking for evidence for the Bible) and only 16 million (or so) LDS members. There have been hundreds of years of research on the Bible before the Book of Mormon even came out. Just on numbers alone, when you have only a fraction of a percentage of the world interested in a book, you will have significantly fewer people trying to study and find evidence. As for how many of us read the entire Bible, actually quite a lot. I have read the Bible almost twice through, and have read the four gospels at least 12 times (more than how many times I have read the Book of Mormon actually). Most of my friends have read at least a good part of the Bible, and as a church, we are currently reading the New Testament as part of our curriculum for the year. Will there be members that don't read it, yes, but I know far more that have read it than that have not read it. One of the reasons I love the Book of Mormon is it actually has so much to add to the Bible. I find so many insights and teachings that add to, not take away, from the Bible. In fact, many of the insights I include in my video are because of the teachings of the Book of Mormon. It is just very clear and beautiful on how it teaches about Christ. If I got rid of the Book of Mormon, honestly (and I really mean this) my channel would not be what it is. It would be far less Christ-centered, and the insights would just not be there. That said, I do try as much as possible to be "non-denominational" in my approach. I hope that my message of the Savior is the most significant thing that comes through. That is my goal. Bring people to Christ. I appreciate the comment, and I hope you enjoy future videos!
