Talking about the swimming Diploma at the start made me laugh in a sad way. I happen to know a few people who CAN'T swim. Not that they won't swim, but they've never learned. HOW? I have no idea. Just that I don't know them well enough to go swimming with them and teach them myself.

A lot of schools don't have pools so can't teach children how to swim in school, and many cities have underfunded or no public pools so it makes it very difficult to teach children to swim, especially in large cities. If you've lived in a city your entire life without access to nearby water, no nearby public pool, and no swim lessons at school, then where are you going to learn?
@rab1ddva60
@rab1ddva60 2 жыл бұрын
1:05:08 pretty cool concept! Me and some friends had an idea to make a game called "I'm on clean up duty" where you get anomaly reports and you have to go into the house and fix them and you'd have to take different items with you depending on the anomaly type. For example, for an intruder, you'd take a water spray bottle and spray them in the face until they leave sorta like what you do with cats.

1:06:14 I think that some people think that only if you work for someone else, it is considered to be called a "real job". But being independent is a real job too and most of the time is even a harder job. Many KZbinrs work actually more than 8hrs a day to make content and must bear all costs themselves.

I agree, then again, some people who starts as a newbie on making youtube content already has a full-time job (I've seen some). Some say they are making youtube vids as a hobby, but some are doing it because they want to be a youtuber as their side-job (and if that goes succesfully, they will they will quit their main job and switch to youtubing as their main job).

For the record I absolutely love the tag line "Hi KZbin". I saw you first on KZbin, then came to some streams on Twitch. It's nice to be greeted with this tag line and then see it coming on the stream. I also have to say I usually don't watch gaming or Let's Plays much because I get furious with gamers not getting a game and sucking at logic riddles. I love watching Insym because he's smart as hell especially in contrast to some other gamers. And I love that he takes none of the sh** some people in the chat throw at him, he simply roasts them and goes on with the game. Just wanted to get that out. (No offense to the chat btw, Insyms chat in general is also very smart, supportive and funny.)

in germany we don't have swimming diploma in school but often before you go to school a lot of parents put their kids in swimming lessons on the local pool. at the end you can make a test for what you have learned and get a patch that you can sew on a bathing suit or just put away. we also have lots of different stages of those swimming achievements but swimming with clothes on is none of them :D but everything else. the swimming classes are not a must and to do the tests is also not a must but it is nice to have because swimming classes will come in school sports either way.

In Norway, at least in my school, we had an extra curricular swimming event. you had to prove you could swim at least 10 meter to pass, and there was a special coloured pin rewarded for each distance a kid managed to swim. I remember there was a 2500m pin that was black with golden crown rim, such a fun event.

Swimming lessons aren’t required where I’m at in Oklahoma (USA) or Illinois (USA). I tend to avoid water because I’m not a strong swimmer and anxiety. We just moved to a place that has a 2ft-5.5ft pool and I just want to keep it covered because I don’t know how to save anyone if they start struggling to swim (I do plan on taking classes).

Talking about swimming lessons, we do swimming lessons here in Canada. You can do it through the public swimming pools, or you can do it through the YMCA, if you have a pass. My 4 year old just finished swimming lessons last week. For us though, you typically start as babies or toddler, and then you get a swimming patch when you pass the class. I never did swimming lessons as a kid, because we couldn’t afford it, but both my kids have went and is currently going to swimming lessons.

I live in east England and we had that swimming diploma thing. We had to swim and tread water with pajamas on, dive to get a brick from the bottom of the pool, and rescue an 'unconscious' friend from the water by holding them and swimming on your back. Things like that. We have so much water, both from sea and rivers, and I think there'd been a lot of drownings in the past, so all kids in local schools got these survival lessons.

(In reference to the swimming conversation at the start) I had swimming lessons for a few years when I was a kid, it wasn’t mandatory though, my parents signed me up for it. I got a few paper certificates from completing the lessons, and was also taught to help drowning people. I specifically remember the instructor referencing a move called “Monkey-tree-banana.” Honestly swimming became my favorite recreational activity since then! America btw (northwest)

American here -- I took swimming lessons as a kid but never got a diploma for it. It was relatively common where I lived because we had a public pool where lessons took place in the summer (which I'm assuming is very common in the US) but it isn't required in our education system (but swimming is an elective sport in many schools). live in Louisiana so I definitely understand the whole, "If you don't know how to swim there's a 50% chance you'll die when you go out" because it's definitely swamp-y lol.

I'm really happy the OD series exists, it is mysterious compelling and fresh among other CCTV games. I must say though, creepy people (in suits) as most freaky anomalies is starting to feel a little over used in OD5, and i feel the devs sorta missed an opportunity there to explore more variation among those. The most freaky anomalies in OD1 felt more ominous, though that's probably my "nostalgia" talking. On the other hand; the devs did a great job on anomaly audio cues in OD5, and the new reporting system, those have really added to the experience!

The things you talk about however I did in school. We had swimming lessons every so often (can't remember how often but I know it was very regular) and we got to learn how to swim with our clothes on, how to save people from drowning and how to dive deep down in the pool. We didn't get any diplomas och badges for that though :( I got so confused when I heard that other countries didn't teach their children to swim. It's such an important skill to have.
