This is surprising to me because my most used bag is a burgundy leather crossbody that I've had for at least 8 years now and use every day, every fall/winter! I think it's a gorgeous color and very versatile, at least with my wardrobe!

I love your anti-hauls!!! Everybody else makes me feel lacking with the message of buy, buy, buy. Acquiring things for them to make profit. You are so right in so many levels: reading a new or old book in the quiet of your home is just paradise. Wearing clothes on repeat is sensible. Relaxing and enjoying the stuff we already own is the obvious thing to do. I don´t feel responsible for this capitalist way that feeds in our needy compulsive bad habits. Much better being than having material things to crowd our houses. You help a lot of people to reflect on the crazy behaviour our society leads us to have.

Things I did NOT purchase this Fall… 1) Candles, I’m determined to use all the ones not fully burned from last year. 🕯️2) Pumpkin spice creamer or treats, This is where I always get myself in trouble with sugary treats each year. 🎃 I DID splurge on one fall decor item for the house. 🍁Not needed… but it does bring me joy when I look at each morning on the kitchen island.

I believe it is difficult to talk about fashion and colour waves when this is personal to Palette compliments. I am a deep autumn and therefore, I will lean towards more richer gem tones than I would ever towards pastels. I believe burgundy is a classic, but It's important to understand that it is not for every skin tone.

Totally with you on skipping the trends! I absolutely love the gothic style and burgundy but that’s why I already had plenty of those pieces before the trend, and still I will have them after, no need for new things at the moment. I also love Dickens but haven’t read Bleak House, thanks for the rec, perhaps it’s something to borrow from the library this year. I don’t like buying dead authors even though the editions are gorgeous, I’d rather give my money to current authors who “need it more”. For that reason, I do buy preorders and new publications throughout the year, but only scour secondhand for my classics.

Ugh the denim struggle is real! I do love a perfect fitting pant though. The trick is to find a style that works for your body in a size that feels just a bit snug when first putting them on. THEN wear them for 5+ days straight before washing to mold them to you. Every time after, they get softer with each wear, but that first day after each wash is the worst. And getting a good fit is super hard to do...

I can definitely understand the book craving and I started to feel it myself. Which is why i made a trip to my local library and got a book there. Remember guys: you don’t have to BUY a book or story every time you want to read something. In many cities there are also Book Crossing shelves or cabinets where you can bring your own books that you don’t read anymore and take books others have put in there. I have found so much world literature that I always wanted to read some day (eg. Hemmingway, Joyce Carol Oats, Vladimir Nabokov, Dickens and the list goes on) for FREE. Use the local projects like these! Public libraries and public book crossing will only survive and get funding if people actually use them 🗣️

Bleak House is not the usual Dickens. My edition is not 1K pages long, fortunately. It is actually Victorian. :) Bleak House is about the legal drama that goes down concerning the case Jarndyce vs. Jarndyce, and how that impacts the lives of Esther, Richard, and Ada. I saw the drama before I watched the book and it really helped; I fell in love with the characters. Especially John Jarndyce and the doctor! [swoon]

Just like year round, I always want to buy candles. I now have it in my budget to buy one candle a month. haha. Oh I love Dickens! Not sure if you will like it or not, but he tended to really care for. the poor and oppressed in his stories during a time where the rich completely ignored anyone poor, or did what they could to not notice them. I have NOT read Bleak House though! I should do that. I do love his The Chimes and A Christmas Carol, though those are his short books. Oliver Twist and Little Dorrit are great. I hope to read A Tale of Two Cities soon, which is quite large as well. I will probably go to the bookstore each week but to look through magazines. I go to the library every week to save money so I don't buy books. It is safer.

denim is one of the ultimate sustainable materials, we just aren't doing it right anymore? because ideally you wear denim until it molds to your body and it gets soft and malleable, and over time it just gets comfier and more worn in, but we definitely don't wear it enough with how we switch up what denim is in, etc.
