Personally I would recommend Kyoto more than Osaka. Osaka is great to visit if you want to see the night life and enjoy typically “Japanese” food. Osaka is mostly about the Japanese entertainment culture, so you can see comedy theatres, Kabuki theatres etc but you won’t enjoy it as much if you don’t understand the language. Kyoto on the other hand is more about religious culture, so you can find a lot of shrines and temples. We preserve the old building as much as possible so you will find that the central part of Kyoto is different from other cities of Japan. You can also find bamboo forests and waterfalls in Kyoto as well. If you go to Japan, definitely don’t go to the “most popular” or “most famous” restaurants. They are usually popular for the experience but not for the food. Eg. The crab place is not good at all for food and overpriced! Try not to go to the chain restaurants and find restaurants in the smaller streets of the city.

If you do have time in tokyo, I really recommend teamLab, which is kind of like an art museum but not really. They use digital technology in order to expand the arts and human relationships. I can't really explain it but if you google teamlab, you will see the types of exhibits they have! They have two locations: one in Odaiba and another in Toyosu. The one in Toyosu is a smaller version of the one in Odaiba which is the main exhibit. Just want to warn you that if you do decide to go, you'll be there for several hours! 😂I went to the one in Toyosu and they only had 4 exhibits, but I was there with a friend of mine for 2-3 hours!! So I would expect that the one in Odaiba, you would be there for 5-6 hours. Another place I would recommend, like many of the other comments, is Kyoto! Kyoto is very beautiful; There is a lot of nature, palace, temples, and shrines! ✨You can really surround yourself with the history and traditional Japanese culture. I really recommend going to Kinkaku-ji, Kiyomizu-dera, Fushimi Inari, Arashiyama (bamboo forest), and the Nishki-market! If you have time, you should also go to Okinawa! It's the southernmost prefecture of Japan and it has its own culture that is different from mainland Japan. Within Okinawa, there are several smaller islands that surround Okinawa that you are able to go to by boat! I'm not sure how you buy the tickets to go to these smaller island, but hearing from my parents, the island that they went to was very beautiful. 😍On the main island of Okinawa, you can go to the churaumi aquarium, war memorials, castles, museums, ryukyu mura (experience okinawan culture), and kokusaidori! If you want to learn about the history of Okinawa or what they experienced in WWII, then I really recommend Himeyuri Peace Museum. I went there once with my family because my dad really wanted me to go there to learn about the history of what happened in Okinawa, as it is not discussed much in American history books, and learn more about my roots, since my mom is from Okinawa. Going there has really blown my mind and I find that it is worth the trip to go there if you ever go to Okinawa. 😊 When coming to Japan, make sure to bring a coin purse since you'll get a lot during the time you're here. Japan loves cash, so expect some places around Japan not accepting cards. Also, make sure to bring an extra bag with you to hold your trash when you go around Japan because you will not find any trash cans on the street. The only place you will probably find trash cans are in the train stations and convenience stores. Sorry this post is so long, but I hope it helps! 😂 Also, if you don't know where anything is, google maps is your best friend! I've been using it the whole time during my time here in Japan and let me just say that I would not have survived without it. 😂

If you want a full nature experience I strongly suggest checking out Nara, me and my boyfriend didn't stay long but we got on the train when we were in Osaka. In Nara there are thousands of deer free roaming and you can feed them little deer cookies for 100 yen for 20 cookies. The scenery is also very lush and green perfect for the gram. Haha.

I live in Japan! I've lived between Kyoto and Tokyo (I'm in western Tokyo right now, which is like..."countryside" Tokyo lol). Kyoto is a BEAUTIFUL prefecture, and if you get the chance, you should definitely check out some of the more off-the-beaten track temples (Kyoto city can be pretty touristy, so I'm not the biggest fan of places like Kinkakuji (the Golden Pavillion) or Kiyomizu Temple), all with beautiful nature surrounding them. I really recommend places like Mt. Hiei (in the NW of Kyoto) and one of my favorite places, Ishiyama Temple (near Otsu). If you want to take a trip up north in Kyoto prefecture, you should definitely check out Amanohashidate, which is one of the Seven Wonders of Japan, and Nariaiji Temple there. I know you said you'll be in Osaka, though, so you'll be not so far from where I used to live in Nagaoka-kyo! My FAVORITE PLACE IN JAPAN is Nagaoka Tenmangu Shrine in Nagaoka-kyo. You can get there on the Hankyu Line (Nagaokatenjin Station) or the JR Line (Nagaoka-kyo Station). It's a short walk from either station. It's absolutely beautiful year-round. If you're going to be there at the end of the year (is that what you said?), then maybe a trip to see the snow monkeys in the hot springs would be worth a trip to Nagano prefecture, but that would be quite a bit out of your way. Arashiyama (with the bamboo forest) and Fushimi Inari Shrine are ALWAYS super crowded and touristy, so even though they're pretty cool, I'm hesitant to recommend those places. Instead of going to Tokyo proper, you could take a trip to Chiba prefecture right next to it and try some hiking in places like Mount Nokogiri. It's famous for a GIANT Buddha statue and lots of other old statues. It's a beautiful place, and you can take the ferry across Tokyo bay!

I studied abroad in Japan last year and my favorite place was Sapporo! Totally not to self promote but I made a couple videos introducing really cool cafes and "hidden" things to do in Sapporo! I recommend going to their art gallery cafes if you are interested for a more chill, local vibe! They have a cafe trend where artists put their work on display in cafes and make a cafe so people can admire the artwork, sit, read, and drink coffee/eat bomb food!!! You should also visit Otaru, which is a 30 or 40 min ride away from Sapporo. It's a really cute port city with trinkets like hand made music boxes and glasswork!

I just came back from Japan! Out of Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo, we definitely enjoyed Osaka most. It had a lot of street food and a lively nightlife. We thought it was the perfect balance between nature/sightseeing (we visited different parks, shrines, and temples) and city life. Kyoto is more traditional so it’s definitely great if you want a more relaxed environment. Tokyo is very modernized. We thought it felt too much like home - the big city life. Our half day in Nara wasn’t as enjoyable as we hoped. It was very busy when we went. Everyone who was visiting kept following the deers and shoving deer cookies at them. It was my second time to Tokyo and my bf’s first. We both enjoyed Osaka most! We stayed at an Airbnb, hostel, hotel, and Ryokan. We enjoyed the Airbnb and hostel most. However, a hostel might not be the best for groups.

I haven't had the chance to experience this yet but another option for accommodation is a tradition japanese inn or ryokan. It's really good if you want to experience japanese culture and it's really different from staying at a hotel or airbnb. It has the traditional onsen/hotsprings that would be really nice during the winter and since they're usually found more on the countryside, there's a focus on nature and such. Sometimes the hotspring is outside, onlooking a river too.Like hotels, the prices vary from cheap to expensive and luxurious. Sometimes the staff don't speak/speak limited english but I'm sure there are some out there with english speaking staff now. They will give you yukatas to wear as well as traditional breakfast and dinner. I think this whole experience would be really relaxing. Regardless of accommodation, you guys will definitely have a blast, the food is great and everyone is so nice!! It's also pretty easy to take public transport around japan so taking a day trip to a nearby city would be a good experience as well, maybe explore somewhere less tourist-y and see what you can find!

Osaka - I would recommend staying at Hotel the Flag in Shinsaibashi. It is a fairly new hotel and the location is perfect! The rooms are big for Japan standards and they have a cool lounge area. We were only in Osaka for 2 days but it was the best hotel we stayed in! Definitely do a day trip to Nara to see the free roaming deer. You can also try the famous mochi too and if you’re lucky, watch them pound the mochi! The shop is called Nakatanido and it’s on the way from Nara station to Nara park so you won’t miss it We’re just at the tail end of our 2 week trip and it is amazing! I would also highly recommend staying at a traditional ryokan if you have time. It’s quite expensive but totally worth the experience, and to experience traditional kaiseki meals

I'm Japanese so I'm so happy you're coming to Japan!! If you love nature, Hokkaido, and NAGANO is absolutely stunning. In Nagano, there's a lot of hiking routes, and beautiful mountains and rivers. I especially loved this place called Kamikochi, but it is a bit hard to get to. If you're going to Osaka, Kyoto is really near so I'd recommend it. But it's really busy so it might be better to avoid the typical temples that everyone goes to. As for accommodation, I'd recommend airbnb but also staying at a ryokan (traditional hotels in Japan) that have really nice onsen (hotspring)!!

I've been to Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. Stayed in different Airbnb's and one night in a hotel. Airbnb is by far the best!! The hotel was way more expensive and super small. The Airbnb's were all amazingly organised, the hosts were very kind and helpful and we got a free pocket wifi from every host to take with us when we were exploring the city. We did the normal to big airbnb's, Traditional and modern. It's easy to find the modern ones in Osaka and I think I liked that one the best. But we went to an 200 year old traditional airbnb in Kyoto and I loved that experience as well. So I recommend doing both since you guys are going to different city's. Oh! and I recommend bringing a small gift with you to give to the hosts. This is not necessary but we had some very sweet hosts that went above and beyond for us. One even went and got a freshly baked cheesecake for us! So in times like that I like to leave a little thank you gift:)

For something nature-y I would highly recommend minoh falls when you go to Osaka. It’s a little bit of a train ride up north, maybe about an hour one way, and the hike is I believe 3 hours round trip. It’s an easy hike. But it’s sooo beautiful and you’re treated with a beautiful waterfall at the end with a couple of little shops to eat at.

We did both during our stay, we enjoyed the air bnb more since we were able to be in the neighborhoods and they're pretty well regulated. When you're in Osaka going to Kyoto, Hiroshima and taking the ferry to Miyajima if you have the chance. Have some bomb seafood... yum! There are a lot of trails and such for hiking, have fun planning!

I’m a Japanese American but lived in Tokyo for many years too. Sapporo is awesome up in Hokkaido, Hiroshima is definitely worth going to too if you can get down there. Kyoto is a bit touristy but really a city you should hit up since there is so much history. You can get some nice nature around a lot of the shrines too. Nara is also awesome. Osaka and Tokyo are both amazing but both are definitely basically city life. You can also take quick trips outside of the Tokyo area too to places like Yokohama (has a great Chinatown), Hakone, Kamakura or Enoshima which will give you more nature without having to travel too far. You guys might also like Nikko too if you want some nature. :)

Its worth it if you're using Shinkansen cause tickets can cost a lot. ^^ and since you're going to Osaka, you guys should go to Kyoto too (one hour away from Osaka by train) and visit Arashiyama and Fushimi Inari Jinja (very nature-y lol). +1 to the JR pass! Remember to get it before you leave for Japan because its not available for sale in Japan. Hopefully its still in season when you guys are there :)

This is a couple months late lol but I just got back from Hokkaido and had to leave a comment! You guys should totally try a traditional ryokan with an onsen (hot spring). They're amazing to soak in (it's even better in the winter when it snows)! It gets very cold in Sapporo, though, so you should probably prepare for that. Also!! For food in that region, they're known for lamb bbq (called Genghis Khan), ramen, crab, and soup curry. There's a place called Soup Curry King in Sapporo that was incredible! I highly recommend trying it out :) Can't wait to see you guys travel in Japan!!

For more nature stuff, Kyoto is a must. You can see the mountains from the city, so even when you’re in the city it feels so nice. Fushimi Inari is beautiful, and Arashiyama bamboo grove as well. I have been watching your channel for many years now but this is the first time i'm commenting...like ever. Haha. But when I saw Wah asking for Japan suggestions, I felt I just have to leave some comments/ recommendations just coz I feel we have the same kind of interest in terms of travelling and I have been to Japan. My last trip to Japan was last Oct/Nov with my family to Hokkaido. It was the best! We did a road trip from Sapporo -> Jozankei ->Lake Toya ->Hakodate ->Noboribetsu -> Sapporo. Then we made a day trip to Otaru which is easily connected to Sapporo by train. And we made another day road trip to Biei passing by Furano. This where the blue pond and flower fields are. Not sure when are you going, but from summer to late summer they are famous for lavenders (Farm Tomita). Shikisai No Oka is great, too. The drive to furano/biei is also very scenic. love! We stayed in an airbnb in Sapporo which is actually quite affordable as compared to hotels. I have also been to Osaka and Kyoto before. Osaka is another city but it's still worth a visit. We spent more days in Kyoto, though. So much more to see around Kyoto. Day trips recommendations are 1-day Nara, 1-Day Arashiyama. Oh and if you have time and would like to also squeeze in a visit to Shirakawago, i think there are tours/trips from Osaka as well. :D

went to Japan last April for 3 weeks with my hubby and a good friend - it was absolutely amazing! we flew into Osaka, went to Kyoto, Kobe, Hiroshima, Onomichi (the countryside for a weekend and biked around), Tokyo ... (can't remember where else but we covered a lot of spots in a short amount of time lol). off the top of my head though, i'd definitely say Kobe for the kobe beef, Dotonbori in Osaka, ramen museum and cup noodle museum in Yokohama, make sure to experience wearing the yukatas in kyoto, and the famous temples/shrines ... Fushimi Inari Taisha and Arashiyama ... can't forget an onsen! the whole time we stayed in different airbnb's and I think overall we saved a bit of money by doing that. really don't think you can go wrong though - you guys will have a blast!

Kyoto is amazing!! I love the small-towny and homey places to eat like the locals (and local prices) and experience the local charm. Lots of shrines big and small (arashiyama, fushimi inari, etc.). You can dress in traditional clothes with rentals and shoot pics everywhere. We stayed at a Resi-stay in Kumico and it's like a cross between both the airbnb and hotel experience!

I have been living in Japan for 9 months now. I would say AirBnb's are definitely better than hotels because they are usually cheaper. I went to Hokkaido earlier this year and stayed at an AirBnb. I also went to the Sapporo Beer Museum, and it was alright. If you like beer, it's worth going, but don't expect to spend a lot of time there because it's actually pretty small. I think if you're going at the end of the year, specifically in January, you should go to the sapporo snow festival and the otaru light path festival. Those were my favorite parts of Hokkaido.

You should definitely try cornbread at Chitose airport in Hokkaido. They have the best cornbread in the world I think and since it is very popular, it's sold out really early in the morning. You should try cheese, milk (including ice cream), soup curry, and miso ramen there, too. In Tokyo, you should try Afuri in Tokyo. They have vegan ramen, too. For accommodations, I recommend hotels over Airbnb. And if you can have the best experience at hotels, I recommend Hoshinoya. They have different locations, such as Tokyo, Kyoto, near Fuji. They work in extreme detail to represent the local areas' cuisine, culture, and environment. Fuji one's theme is gramping (camping in the hotel) so you might be interested in the most.

Recommendations from Japan (From Japanese opinion): SUICA is your best friend. But if you go to more local areas, better to have some cash and coins (coins are very useful in Japan) - If you go to Hokkaido, you must visit > Shiroikoibito Chocolate museum. Try their cookies with white chocolate and the white roll cake (a must!). >Marusei Butter Raisin cookies (the best) Osaka: > must try their kushi katsu (fried skewers!) >Momiji Okonomiyaki Tokyo: >Tsunahachi Tempura (an inherited tempura shop in Shinjuku/ sit at the counter to be able to taste right after the chef cooks ~ it's so fresh and light, not oily). > Cremia (so milky) ice cream with cookie cone - Shibuya > T's TanTan Vegan Ramen (Jiyugaoka or Ueno) > Kihachi cream pie Mille-Feuille (Ginza) >Fukusaya Castella (Nakameguro) >Palms cafe (Jiyugaoka - omelette rice) >Shirokaneya 白金や (Ginza - tofu skin wrapped rice) >Roasted beef noodles restaurant (Shinjuku - TIP:you can ask for a bit of rice if your noodles still have soup/oil flavors! It's free service) > Commune 2nd (Shibuya - a fun outdoor food place to explore) > ITOYA (Ginza - stationery lovers ;) > Tokyu Hands (Shinjuku/ Ikebukuro - stationery, techs, unique but cool stuffs) or /LOFT Shibuya > Yokohama Cup Noodle Museum or enjoy the ocean & parks near Akarenga/Red Bricks Yokohama

I went to Tokyo 2 years ago and it has easily become my favourite city I’ve ever visited. You’d actually be surprised that Tokyo has SO many national parks that you wouldn’t expect to be there within the hustle and bustle of the city. But they’re there and they’re soooooo stunning and peaceful. Such an amazing contrast! I would highly recommend going to the Senso-ji temple there’s also these little stalls leading up to the temple which are nice to look at. I would also recommend travelling to Kamakura from Tokyo (if I remember correctly it is about 1.5-2hrs on a regular train but I think you can also get the bullet train) to visit the Great Buddha and the surrounding shrines/temples - so stunning. Overall, even though you say you’re kind of over Tokyo I think you’d actually be shocked at how varied it is from the beautiful temples to the bright lights and kawaii fashion to the beautiful greenery in the national parks! There’s definitely something for everyone.

I did Airbnb in Japan and it was cheaper than hotel, more space, and has washer machine. But there are some house rules that makes it a little inconvenient since traveling in Japan is tiring. Things like cant make too much noise because walls are thin, you have to separate the trash, and doorway where you take off shoes are so small that you can trip over sometimes. Some Airbnb are old buildings too so it can get cold or hot so easily. Showers are outside the tub too. Just these little things that are inconvenient when coming home from a long day and you just want to get to bed quickly as possible.

Airbnb’s are probably cheaper but I definitely recommend staying at a ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) for at least one night! You can experience onsen and be served traditional Japanese food in your room. They usually use local ingredients for your meals. Especially if you’re going during winter, there’s inns where they have outdoor onsen (bath) and you can watch the snow fall which is super pretty and relaxing

I'm about to finish my trip here! I spent two weeks in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. I highly recommend you guys go to these places in Tokyo: TeamLab Borderless (amazing light show) and Tsukiji fish market (the freshness of the fish is a game changer! Try to go there by 7 am)! Heads up, restaurants in Tokyo don't open until 10am.. My bf and I were up by 7 our first few days in Tokyo. We personally didn't really like Osaka.. there wasn't much to do there. I highly suggest you guys to go to Kyoto since you guys want to be in nature more! Check out Hirobun, a restaurant up in the mountains where you get to eat on the river and catch your rice noodles in bamboo pipes! It's worth the experience! There is this REALLY GOOD place that serves wagyu katsu in Kyoto called Katsugyu! It's bomb!!! Bring bug bite cream Waylie!! Them bugs will show you some love! Make sure you guys by a JR pass so you guys can use the bullet train. It cuts down your travel time to go from city to city. Read the pass carefully!! 7 day pass legit means 7 calendar days!! I hope you guys have a lot of fun!!!

In Japan (Tokyo), my friends and I spent the first few days in capsule hotels (newer style ones) to experience it and save a little money. Then, we moved over to an Airbnb for the tatami experience as well as extra space for all the stuff we were buying. For the location, everything is pretty doable near the main subway line (Yamanote line).

Seriously, just google the top things to do in each city. That's literally what u should be doing. Seriously. There are tons of good videos & lists on what u should do in Japan. Leave a little extra time to explore the areas of where u'll be sleeping (or is that what everyday does?) Japan's a completely different world like China I'm sure. So everything will be entertainment. My major tip is to save EXTRA time for transportation like trains and buses. No matter what anyone says it'll be a little confusing. I just came back from Japan with my boyfriend last week! I'm totally missing it right now, but hearing that you two will be there makes me excited! Here is a few of my favorite things that we did: Tokyo: Gyukatsu Torikizoku (izakaya style, very English friendly) SUSHI (anywhere really hehe) Ramen TeamLab Borderless or Planets Tsukiji Outer Market Nabezo (shabu shabu/sukiyaki) Osaka: Dotonbori (LOTS OF FOOD - by that lobster picture you showed, there's a really good melon pan place for dessert!) Namba Station (tons of food and shopping) Gudetama Cafe Omurice Also try out the McDonalds (ebi burger, teriyaki burger, Qoo) in Japan cause they have a different menu then the states. And maybe character cafes if you're interested in cute foods. We're also Worth It Buzzfeed fans, so their Japan videos were very helpful! TabiEats and Mike Chen's channels are also very good!

I've had great experiences in both airbnbs and hotels in japan. airbnbs are definitely cheaper and more value for money. but hotels are definitely in more central locations and have the benefit of reception staff that can do a lot of translating and booking activities/restaurants for you. In terms of locations, osaka and tokyo are similar. theres a lot more to do in tokyo than in osaka, a lot more neighbourhoods and interesting places to visit. osaka has most of its touristy places/restaurants around the one area. Kyoto is definitely worth going to if you enjoy nature. totally different vibe from osaka/tokyo. a lot more older traditional buildings with so many forests and parks around the city.

I don't know if you guys will have the chance to go but if you like traditional Japanese building vibes then Kyoto is pretty cool! If you go to Gion, you might even see some geishas at night time! Also, this is in Hiroshima but Miyajima is suuuuper cool. Its an island that has a shrine that is half submerged in water at the high tide but at the low tide you can actually walk on the shore part. Also, the deer there are super friendly and you can get pretty close to them. As for food, I know this sounds kind of weird but I think you should try hitting up the McDonalds in Japan because they have burgers unique to Japan like teriyaki burgers and shrimp burgers etc. As for airbnbs, I think they can be hit or miss. When I went to Japan the airbnbs were pretty okay for the most part but the whole concept of allowing a stranger into an apartment is not really big in Japan yet so a lot of times they make sure you don't make loud noises or answer the phone to risk the owner finding out etc. That being said I saw the vlog from Krist Soup when she was in Japan and her airbnb looked really amazing! Also, airbnbs are a lot cheaper than hotels because for hotels in Japan, they actually charge you based on the number of people staying in the room. But if you guys do end up getting a hotel, getting the traditional Japanese hotel room with the tatami and onsens can be a really cool experience too!

Hey! I live in Japan! Tbh, it is better if you stay in Kyoto rather than Osaka. More things can be seen in Kyoto. Cuz I think what you see in Osaka is only The Universal Studios and also Dotonburi and other temples. Its only 30min train ride from Osaka to Kyoto so it is easy to go back and forth. Also while in Kyoto you can go to Nara (go to Nara park!), Kobe (eat the famous Kobe beef). All of these places are only less than 1hr train ride from Kyoto. For accommodations, it is really up to you. Airbnb is cheaper, however, sometimes its located somewhere far from the city/station. If you bring a lot of luggage it's gonna be kinda hard. There's gonna be a lot of walking. Well if you take taxis it's easy but taxi is a lil bit expansive. But if you stay in an Airbnb you can feel the local atmosphere around the area. Hotels are always in the city centre, near the station, but its expansive and small!

I recommend at least staying one day at a ryokan in an onsen area. You wont get that experience anywhere else! If you go to Hokkaido theres Noboribetsu, known for its onsens. Or if you go to Mt Fuji, near Tokyo, stay in a ryokan with outdoor onsen so you can have a lovely view. I stayed in the Lake Kawaguchi area so when I went for onsen time I got a lovely view of both the lake and mt fuji. There's also the Kubota Itchiku Art Museum, dedicated to a very unique kimono designer and has an interesting garden and the Iyashino-Sato Nenba Healing Village, a reconstructed traditional village that has cheap costume rental. And if you are into Ghibli even a little bit, the Ghibli Museum is the best! You have to buy tickets way ahead of time but it is so worth it. Nara isn't too far from Osaka and most of its major sights are clustered near each other and there are lil DEERS everywhere. If you are going with more than 2 people airbnb is the way to go. I've stayed at both and hotels are really nice and clean with good amenities but they are SMALL, while airbnb its annoying to get to because lots of residential are more in the back streets but they are apartment size and give you more room to stretch out and unwind.

Also get a pasmo or suica cards if you use the subways. They are insanely useful can be recharged at most major stations and you can use them all over the country and in certain convenience stores and vending machines and coin lockers. ALSO use coin lockers. They are also at most stations and vary from small ones to full luggage size ones and very handy. ALSO convenience store onigiri + sandwiches + pudding + oden + steamed buns ALL SUPER GOOD. theres also a foot salon pas type bandage that is amazing after long day of walking.

I loved Aribnbs for Japan! I went to Tokyo and Kyoto and they had some pretty nice high rises for a fairly affordable price! It was super convenient and allowed me to feel more like a local which is more of my ~vibe~. For hotels, I stayed at a Ryokan in Hakone - and if you can squeeze it in on your way to Osaka i would HIGHLY suggest - they gave us yakutas and traditional futons for bed, designated dinner times with the BEST sushi/sashimi i've ever had - it was the best cultural experience! if you are taking the shinkansen on your way to Osaka I would also suggest stopping at Nara Park to see the bowing deer! I also think you should squeeze in Kyoto if you have time just because it was the old capital of Japan (there's alot of history and culture embedded there!). And if you do make it to Kyoto, try to book a meal at Kichi Kichi omurice!!! It was closed when I went, but they have the BEST omurice (the one that blew up on instagram). Hope this helps!

I 10000% would recommend spending time in Kyoto (1 hour away from Osaka via bullet train). You will find a lot of your cultural and nature aspect here. Do not skip out on: Arashiyama (Bamboo Forest and Monkey Park Iwatayama [about a 1 hour hike up] for recommended places to go to here). Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Fushimi Inari Taisha are other places to visit which is on the east side of Kyoto. Osaka 1000% for the food. Places to visit near Osaka would be Minoo Park - a very nice stroll next to nature with a waterfall at the end.

I LIVE IN JAPAN 🖐🏼! There are so many things to do in Japan! One thing I recommend is Kenrokuen! That’s in Kanazawa! It’s gorgeous anytime of the year honestly. Now I’m living in Nara and there’s a plethora of things to do here. Since this used to be the capital WAY WAY LONNG AGO. There’s so much history. I recommend Nara-Machi for shopping. It’s a local street with so many shops and restaurants. Think of it like a localized Dotombori(Osaka). So it’s crowded but not crazily so. It’s also got tons of famous shaved ice spots. But you gotta get there in the morning for the good places. They run out HELLA fast. Not sure if they’re open year round though. And Nara is close to Osaka so it can be an easy day trip! Of course Nara park is a must see. There’s just so many things. I can’t say them all hahaha!

Also on the note of Airbnb. Japan is just branching out into that scene so there aren’t many. One thing to be careful about is J apan has STRICT trash sorting rules. Each area... heck... even each apartment is different. I’m not sure about pricing. Also most places want people to be quiet by like 11. So you gotta be respectful of neighbors. Apartments tend to have HELLA thin walls. So I’d definitely do some more research.

I highly recommend going to Kyoto for a few days if u can than Osaka. We just came back a week ago and we loved Kyoto compared to Osaka and Tokyo. It’s definitely more chill and has more nature views than Osaka. Osaka was good for a day to eat all the food. FYI do not go to that king crab place lol. We actually got a leg or two for a dumb price and it was really not worth it. As for hotels, we stayed in them but they were really small, smaller than nyc hotels. Unless you guys buy 4-5 star hotels, they will be super tiny. Hard to fit luggage in the rooms. In Kyoto, we stayed in a ryokan and loved it. If u guys don’t mind sleeping on the Asian floor beds/mats. Definitely get the JR pass because traveling to different cities will be a lot easier.

I'm so excited to hear that you are coming to Japan:) I highly recommend you to go to Seto Inland Sea’s islands because I know you love nature. There are many small islands there and I recommend you to rent bicycles to take on the ferries run between those islands so you can enjoy the different characters of each island. There is even one island called Rabbit island (Ohkunoshima)where you can meet so many wild friendly rabbits living on the island. Those islands were ranked at 7th of the "52 places to Go in 2019" by NY Times and you may find good information on their article. For accommodation, I hope that you can try Japanese style hotel (Ryokan) with nice hot spring. You can experience Samurai-like lifestyle on Tatami and sleeping on Japanese Futon, and you can experience very unique Japanese hospitality and cuisine there. Also, if any summer festivals or fireworks is held in the cities you stay, please join those events too. I can guarantee you that will be a very special experience. Since you guys are going as a group, I’m sure you’ll be able to find a nice space for your group at a good price as well. Hey Wah and Weylie, went to Japan last summer with my boyfriend and he did some extensive research, especially on accommodations, due to the new laws that were implemented on AirBnbs. We were originally going to stay in an Airbnb, but with the new laws, many hosts had to cancel their space because they couldn't attain a permit. Which drove up the cost of airbnbs, due to the same demand, but low supply. While we were worried about not being able to find a place to stay, we decided to just find a hotel and we shocked by the service, even though it was only 3 stars. Since you are going to go with a group, I would suggest hotels, just in case, the hosts may cancel on you guys last minute. You can read more on it, just search up "Japan Minpaku Law"
