Hi guys, I completely understand how you guys feel about the van! Recently I had to change to a new van for work so I could run deliveries (I work in an Asian Grocery Store and we run deliveries to restaurants & bakeries) and to carry produce I would get from the local markets. From memory it was a Red Mitsubishi Van probably 1990's model (or earlier) so the van was very old, run down, had many dints, broken headlights, rusty wipers and the engine was really weak and always broke down (it was passed down to us for free by the previous shop owners). There was no mechanics that had enough experience with my old red van so once the engine burned out, it was impossible to fix (unless we resorted to carrying 2-3 litres of water to fill up the water tank to cool the engine every single time we drive out- which we did for about 2 weeks). Many people that were around me would say that 'at one glance' it was easy to tell that it was 'illegal' to drive- but that didn't stop my aunty and I from driving it at work for a good two years before we had to eventually change to a newer van (the red van could only drive within 15 minutes from work & the engine burnt). It was upsetting at first and hard to accept, but now we have a newer and safer van that can drive longer distances (something we limited for 2 years). My boss and everyone around me is more relieved that I'm driving a safer van. Also, the new van carried more stuff inside so I became more efficient with my work. In the end, although it took awhile to make a decision to change the van; I always knew that the day would come to change the van (because the red van was just so old, and run down) but I just enjoyed the company of the old van until the very last day it couldn't drive anymore (it kind of sounds weird). Now the red van has a new life serving as a short-distance vehicle for the water spinach farmers :) When the time comes, the decision to change or keep the van will be much easier depending on what you guys want and need from the van. I believe Heckmann & Thiemann here in Portland, Oregon work on VW Eurovans. There is another shop called Steve's Imports. Not exactly very close to you guys but maybe give them a call and make a road trip to Canada out of it. You can have Wah drive the van while you drive the BMW. That way, you can drop off the van (in Portland) and continue on your trip to Canada. Good luck guys!
