You don't need to know how to use nen to be able to hide your presence, you can use zetsu without knowing about what is nen, for exemples when Gon was hunting Hisoka during the hunter exam he was using zetsu without knowing about it, that could explain why some chimera ants are able to hide their presence

Spoilers for later. With hindsight, at this point a large amount of Hunters swarming the ant nest might just be the better move. They obviously didn't know it at the time, but the slow approach they took meant the King had time to be born. Sending a bunch of Hunters to attack the nest and using a smaller elite team to assasinate the queen before the king can be born would mean the ants eventually die out. Although even that would be insanely risky since the royal guards would be born at that point.

The lack of information and also NGL's love nature and no electronics were such genius details to add. It makes it hard to contact the Hunter's Association since there is no clear evidence (yet). The NGL setting makes it hard to communicate too. It really is the perfect breeding ground for the Chimera Ant Queen. And because of the lack of info and communication difficulties, the perfect plan cannot be executed. Sad for the casualties, but hecka good for the story ngl. The turn of events and the battles to come... They're just so good 😩👌✨

yeah, it's a "battle shonen" but the fights tend not to be the main focus nor are they very frequent esp as the story progresses. even in the chimera ant arc where violence is all around there aren't that many fights until the end of the arc, but whenever there is a fight togeshi makes sure that the fight has a purpose and and it either represents something (like a clash of ideologies) or affects/changes at least one of the characters. it's not spectacle wo substance

13:35 to answer the guy in the middle, Chimera Ants are already stronger by default, so the Queen eating just a regular human already produced stronger soldiers. The first batch of chimera soldiers were only produced from the Queen eating some fish or some lower life that's why they're so weak and aren't able to talk

Insects are naturally multiple times stronger than a human for their size, when combined with traits of different animals this only increases. That explains why even without any nen, this chimera ant was able to survive Gon's and Killua's strongest attacks.

I can tell that HxH will probably be one of Cannon's favorite shows of all time by the end of this journey. This arc brings up many interesting questions about human nature. Hopefully, you will have great discussions because it's incredibly well-written. Togashi likes the viewer to slow down and enjoy the little moments, so if you're impatient with this story and only look at it on a surface level, it's not that interesting. There's something so beautiful about simple things in life, you just have to look at it from a better perspective to appreciate them🙂

There is misconceptions about kurapika ability I don't know why nobody clear that up yet. Kurapika has 2 main abilities: Emperor time and the conjured chains (which are divided into several ability one per chain). Emperor time is a specialization ability which activities whenever his eyes turn red it allows him to get complete mastery on all the nen types. Conjurer chain has five abilities and only chain jail is for phantom troupe. His other chains are not restricted to phantom troupe.

I really do hope y'all are prepared for this NOT to be an instant gratification type anime. The story is excellent the writer is amazing be patient & let him get you there!! Also, wild animals have a natural affinity for stuff like concealing they're presence, hunting prey, or just being stronger than humans in general. So that is why these scrub chimera ants are MUCH stronger than any human they've faced thus far. It isn't really a far fetched idea that they'd be stronger than gon & killua

I think it was Carter who suggested it, but I want to clear up why making a Nen pact against Chimera Ants would not work well. Kurapika's chain jail is only so powerful, because he swore on his life to only ever use it on the Phantom Troupe. That's like 13 people in the entire world. But there are hundreds, if not thousands of Chimera Ants at this point, so an ability that can only be used on them would not get that much of a power-up. Plus, Chimera Ants are already so much stronger than humans by default, so you would need even more strength to defeat them. On that note, the Chimera Ants are so powerful because like other ants, they can lift multiple times their own body weight, just that they are human-size and sometimes even bigger (and heavier). It's difficult to even pierce their skin because they have hard shells like most insects do. And the genes inherited from other species allow them f.e. to conceal their presence, be exceptional predators, have extreme speed, have a "sixth sense" and so on.

Also, Kurapkia's bolstered by his Condition as well, that if he uses chain jail one anyone but those 13 people, he dies. To get anywhere near close, you'd have to have people creating Nen restrictions and conditions purely for fighting the Chimera Ants which most people have only just found out about and that have become a significantly more dangerous threat in about 2 weeks, so there's be a real tight schedule for developing hatsu to fight them

There is nothing wrong with normal ants being able to fight hunters without knowing NEN. After all, they are giant ants and ants are characterized by being so strong that they are capable of lifting between 50 and 100 times their own weight. each of you should wear a mic or make your voices louder, i tend to not wanna watch any more of ur vids for a while cause i can rarely hear each of your commentary nd its tiring lol. anyways cant wait till you guys get to the peak of this arc!! its so sad! i hope you guys also take time to make more commentary or analyzation on the characters and their relationships with each other, for that is one of the best things about this anime is the relationships. for example Killuas relationship with gon this arc is really important and how that relates to gons true character that slowly gets more obvious. Same goes for Leorio and Kurapika but that isnt shown much in this remake of the anime. When you guys finish with this show, and feel like you need more HxH, i highly suggest watchin the 90's version. The art for the 90's is so satisfying, and it also focuses on some things a lot more nd u get a better scoop on the story and characters, especially Kurapika. I really hope you guys do watch the 90's version, at least only watch the york new arc if youre gonna give the 99 version a chance, comin from a long time anime watcher and long time rewatcher of HxH, its so worth
