Thanks to Norad (www.norad.no/en) for this video!
Bonobos are an ape that share 99% of their genes with humans, and are only found in the rainforest of the DR Congo. Fanny Minesi runs Lola Ya Bonobo outside Kinshasa, Congo. The reserve was founded by her mother to take in and help orphaned bonobos.
DR Congo's rainforest is the second largest in the world. The peatland and trees soak up and retain huge amounts of carbon, which would otherwise exacerbate the climate crisis. Here, bonobos eat nuts and fruit, before spreading the seeds around to grow new trees and shrubs.
The bonobos in Congo are therefore doing an important job for all of us. Now they need help.
