Zedaph, the best clock in Minecraft is "Etho's Hopper Clock." A detailed description is as follows: Two hoppers point into each other, with one powered by a redstone block. Once the unpowered one empties, a comparator taking its output turns off, and a piston pushes the redstone block to power the other hopper. Repeaters flash whenever the block moves past them, so whenever one of the hoppers empties, it sends a pulse. If the delay of a full hopper emptying isn't long enough, these can be chained so that whenever a hopper empties, a single item flows through the next set, stacking the delay exponentially. For the Aquarium, the repeater flash could easily be hooked up to a t-flip flop, so that whenever a hopper empties the piston changes state. I hope this helps!

I have an idea Zedaph! What about making a giant repeater loop connected to dispenser randomizer. There are dispenser randomizers individually hooked up to each light. With different items in each one you can have even more random spread, and if the redstone loop circles fast enough, or with multiple signals on the same line delayed by repeaters. I think this would save a lot of resources., Or maybe a cactus observer clock hooked up to each individually, but you may have to double up on the lanterns depending on how slow crop tick growth is, maybe sugarcane?

Well, since it is for an aquarium, I think it would be appropriate to use pufferfish detectors? Just stick one near every light, build a big maze around them, and put a bunch of villagers in it with their beds and workstations sprinkled around (maybe a bell at the middle. They meet at the bell to talk if i remember correctly?) so that they have to traverse the maze to get from one to the other. That's the first thing that came to mind, but you can also use any other mobs, and rely on their random movement?
@magnusanderson66814 жыл бұрын
Theres no reason to use pufferfish when you just would need a trapdoor. And not sure if villagers are the best mob either for it but yeah I think some movement detector thing could work well.

@@r374rb3d A pufferfish detector is a device hidden in the walls or floor to detect a player moving around without them seeing it. Why are you going to hide pufferfish under the walls of the halls that you hide villagers into so that you can pop up lights with a hidden clock

@@magnusanderson6681 They dont't just detect players, but most entities, villagers included. Of course, you could do the same thing with pressure plates (or tripwires), and any other mobs, but it is for an aquarium, so pufferfish and villagers (that are all fisherman) is way more fun :) I will admit that this is probably the least efficient way to do it, and it will require a but of testing for optimal pathing, beds&workstations placement and number of villagers, but when i thought about the most Zedaph way to do it, this is the first thing that came to mind :)
@sproo64124 жыл бұрын
For random timings build a kelp tube just underneath and beside each light. piston facing into the tube one above the bottom, observer 1-2 spaces above that (no more than that.. some kelp is short) When the observer tics, it fires the piston below. Every second observer tic, it changes the lamp status (up/down). You need second tic because observer fires twice.. once when kelp grows into it, once when kelp is broken. For a bonus contraption leave the kelp tube open into the aquarium and set up a current at the top level to make the whole aquarium double as an inefficient kelp farm.
@samj68374 жыл бұрын
To make the system to flash the lanterns, you can hook up dropper randomizers to each piston that controls the lanterns. Then, connect it to a redstone line so that main dropper (with, say, one pickaxe and one stone) activates when a redstone line goes high, and the dropper is refilled when it goes low. Hook up all of these to a central etho hopper clock and you are done!
@bramarts58504 жыл бұрын
For extra randomness, add some repeaters in between lines to different droppers so they don’t activate or deactivate on the same time
@teasdaye4 жыл бұрын

Temporal Scout 41 report: the initial school of fish has been transferred from the Alpha tank to the Beta (Or the Betta...I love a good fish pun). Subjects appear healthy and display natural behaviors. The lighting randomizing is in progress. Will this be the timeline where he uses silent chickens on pressure plates? We shall see. I have observed many people in this world dying for fun. Having been rather unpleasantly resurrected myself, I assume that the reward outweighs the risk. Zedaph had a disappointing run this time, but has had fairly good return other times. Perhaps the enjoyment lies in the surprise of discovery and luck. This bears further study and I shall endeavor to observe other inhabitants pursuing these rewards.

for the lights timer, you could use cactus clocks with observers. when the cactus grows up it'll send a signal to the observer and immediately break off. If you put a sticky piston off the observer, it will put the light up when the cactus grows, and when the cactus grows the next time it'll put the light down. All the randomness! also a (pretty pants) cactus farm, but you're all about inefficiency! You could also do it with bamboo or sugarcane if you want it to be a little faster, you'd just have to have a seperate piston to break the crop.
@gotnate4 жыл бұрын
I had to come from the future to tell you how i made a time-based randomizer! Redstone ore activates for a randomized amount of time, and when it deactivates, an armor stand will immediately re-activate it. Point an observer at the redstone ore to detect this state change. The observer already spits out the short pulses you want, however, they will be two quick pulses, so you will need to add a limiter to that. If you didn't need that limiter, it'd be quite compact.

Droppers will fire from a random slot, so by putting in items with different stacking caps (tools max at 1, snowballs max at 16, and most items obviously max at 64), you can fire a random item into a hopper which is detected by a comparator. The comparator will give a different signal strength based off the stacking cap of the item, and you can use this to create different pulse lengths. In short, a dropper and hopper feeding into each other with the dropper firing on a timer and a comparator output from the hopper will do the randomizer in a 1x3x1 space.

Hmm. My bad idea. Dropper to mini-sorter with three different unstackable items -- comparators to determine which item came in. (item is then returned to dropper). Each item triggers a timing loop with a different fixed length. 1 min, 8 min, 14 min (use whatever values you see fit). All loops meet at a fixed point where it ends with a pulse sent to a counter. When any given counter reaches five -- the lamp status is flipped and the counter resets. To save space, make that pulse go out to ALL counters, rather than having a separate randomizer for each module BUT, vary up the number if in the counter. If lamp A toggles after 5 cycles, then make lamp B toggle after 3, and lamp C toggle after 7.

The timer for the lights. You could put a chicken in a 1x2 box with a tripwire and string hooked up to a observer. BOOM random one rock pulse clock

you could have just one clock activating dropper randomizers for the lights. or if you don’t want them all changing at once, you could have a few clocks, or use repeaters to add various delays to each of the lights

Zedaph you could use a chicken and a pressure plate in a 4x4 or so area underneath each light to save on complex redstone! However don’t forget to silence them with name tags! :D great vid!!

For the lights use an etho hopper clock as a master clock, link it up to droppers into hoppers that will read wether a stackable item or non stackable item gets put out and use that to determine if a light comes on. You can use repeaters for a different delay between the master clock and the lights to make it even more random

Your content is so captivating! Gives me Etho vibes with a touch more craziness tossed in. I only just started watching you but I’m glad I that I did.
