I always found the Beta's AR collar and hood combination a big turn-off and didn't understand why they did it only for this model.

It is different, but I don't think that it is that bad. However, I would tend to agree with you that they storm hood is better in most use cases.

What are your thoughts or the public thoughts on using this as a SKI jacket? I am considering this jacket for everyday winter + doubling as a SKI jacket shell. Feedback is greatly appreciated.

I would say that you could use it as a ski jacket, but the only thing that it doesn't have is a powder skirt. Otherwise, it's a nice durable multi-use jacket.

Hi, is this a 2024 model? Is the gore-tex manufactured differently these days to conform to environmental issues? Just wondering if they are as durable as in the past.

This is the 2024 model. I honestly don't know if the GoreTex has changed. That would be a good question for GoreTex. I do have several older GoreTex shells, and to me, they don't seem to be any different as far as texture, and construction.

Hi Chris, I have enjoyed your awesome videos on Arcteryx. I have the same model as today's jacket but the size is Large. I have a question: how do you keep the hood of your jacket such nicely stretched and has no wrinkles? In Japan, all jackets of Arcteryx sold at the brand directly-managed stores have the hood crumpled and wrinkled. Please let me know if there are any secrets to make the hood nice and wrinkleless like yours. Thanks.

Hi, honestly I've only had that jacket a few days. They arrive in the package folded up pretty well. I do have several older jackets that don't have any problems with wrinkles. I keep them hung up in the closet, and make sure that the hoods lay nicely on the back when not in use.
