The devs said that the reworked archer was supposed to be an early- to midgame crowd control tower. Let's take hardcore mode for example: - You can place archer at the start of the game (costs 600 cash to place) and it gets all 3 detections over the course of the game. (Hidden Detection at Level 2 (Which only costs 675 cash in hardcore) and Lead Detection through the fire arrows at level 3) It can carry the earlygame in hardcore (It can deal with the balloons, it can deal with the invisibles and with fire arrows it can deal with leads and lead bosses), and it can hold its ground in mid-game with some support of other towers. By the later waves, it becomes outclassed since you're gonna have enough money for maxed out mortars, rangers, pursuits and dps towers. I think the rating is quite unfair to the tower that isn't supposed to compete in the same class as Mortar and Ranger. It has very good use in the tier where it is placed in by the devs. Of course, if you were expecting a DPS tower to be made out of *Archer* out of all things, maybe you should wait until they rerelease Elf Camp or Toxic Gunner.

Building on what chanting said, if its main use case is Hardcore for its detections then there isn't much else it can be used for, considering it can be outclassed at its versatility and reliability by other towers that are also effective in Hardcore and are equally usable in other modes, such as a few of the golden towers, brawler, gladiator, etc. It's good for some uses, but keyword being 'some', it's overall dependent on amount of enemies and where it's placed, and on some maps where there's not a lot of space or a lot of turns it doesn't do the greatest, being map dependent for straight paths for piercing unless you use bomb arrows. The fire can be outclassed by g-pyro or arguably jester, shock by electro or chilled by one of many freezing towers, and AOE by mortar, executioner, or shottgunner. It can be good if you don't have enough tower slots but need to rely on burn, aoe, and stun from a singular tower slot which is unique to Archer, but outside of this case you could bring more viable options, like G pyro for burn and AOE while also melting defenses and having hidden, or Electro since it chains, melts defense at max, and can scale further into mid and arguably into late game if you have all 4 max level, and if hidden/flying is an issue then fireworks tech can buff for hidden, flying, and lead detection in hardcore, or using a consumable like UAV. I think Archer /can/ be good, but it's moreso a niche tower you'd use for specific scenarios rather than as a first choice tower for any one of the abilities it's arrows give, especially since you can't mix the arrows, which could've given it more versatility and more appeal, comparable to Jester with multiple bombs, and mixing certain arrows could've given unique interactions, such as Fire and Shock making every half second or so of burn then stun afflicted enemies for 0.3s on top of burning, but as it stands I think it's more niche and the rating given is fair, until they buff or change archer since as it stands theres better options for everything it could be used for, outside of maybe hardcore versatility, like Corso said with being overall outclassed by other better, and cheaper, alternatives.

on crossroads it was able to solo up until wave 25 in solo hc i got 3 max and they shredded the hidden bosses (explosive arrows).

The archer bomb arrows is actually insanely good when paired with the firework technician, when shooting at a dense crowd, of breakers or other enemies, it will shoot like 5 rockets per arrow and every hit from the explosion counts towards the rocket chance

i got the Archer back from Xmas 2019, back when it was called Holiday Archer. for its worth - the archer overall became much better. he shoots faster, overall cheaper, the arrows however are a bit underwhelming. 0.3 stun? really? on Fallen, when half the enemies have No Stun thats laughably low. but he is effective for the investment. you just gotta make good use of his placement.
