There was a division and war amongst the machines over power. The winning side likely won bc they rebuilt Neo and Trinity and preserved their aging, then ran different versions of the Matrix until they created the most efficient version giving them a higher production of power thus an advantage over the other machines, trying to run off of the old system that people were exiting at a high rate. The winning side also destroyed Zion after the take over.

It's not just about human emotion. It was also about the lack of change. Morpheus said that the "current Matrix" was designed after Y2K. Which means that for the past some decades, they've been stuck in the year 2000ish. No change, no upgrades, a bunch of the same. The Analyst also mentions this, in a way, when talking to Neo in Trinity's shop. He understood that change was needed, not just to how the Matrix ran, but to the program itself. He understood that things needed an upgrade, in order for the program to run better and to be successful.

Social media is a small part of the movie, but the entire theme connects to it deeply. Negative SM is way more viral in human networks because we evolved that way to survive, so the Analyst uses that trait against us. Meanwhile, we must guard ourselves against this trait in the so-called real world. We must overcome our evolutionary programming to survive in this new SM, and AI driven world. I think that the issues we're facing with AI today will likely inform the themes of the next Matrix movie.

He wasn't wrong "architect", he just didn't have resurrection "Matrix" in mind, (Meaning Matrix was supposed to end on "Revolution"). And Resurrection needed to magically make the architect fall to work (I need to listen to the video again but I believe I said this because the explanation for resurrection also depends on the architect's fall or loosing) And do the new perspective is the idea that the old movie was wrong only because "resurrection" had problems or didn't align with canon. Like making a new starwars movie, then realizing they misunderstood the old. So now we have KZbin videos explaining the connection in an aim to change perceptions to make the movie seem plausible! I will disagree 3:18 the Oracle totally expected Neo to infect Smith and the chaos that followed, the Oracle even willingly allowed Smith absorb her on the third movie, her plan was always for the machines to be overpowered by Smith and for Neo to negotiate the truce. That is why at the end of the movie the Architect told her that she played a dangerous game and she agreed, the complete chain of events of the 3 movies was her plan.

My favorite interpretation is everything that takes place was in the Matrix. When Neo was outside the Matrix, he still had powers. This points to them still being within the matrix. The issue is that The Father used force to quell any dissent. There are plenty of people who, when told about the existence of the Matrix, will still choose to stay within the Matrix. The main antagonist of the first movie wanted everything to get back into the Matrix. This means when an anomaly is detected, it will not throw off the design of the Matrix. If The Father had spent time providing adequate explanations to the anomalies as to why the Matrix should exist instead of trying to delete them, there could have been a happy medium between freedom and ignorance. The Father could have explained that the program is tailored to keep every humans happy, that the humans were used to power the machines. Separately, he could have asked The Source (the machine king) to provide a safe place for the free humans to exist free from harassment. This way, the humans who are ignorant can remain ignorant, the humans that desire freedom can live in Zion, and the machines can continue to farm humans ethically for power. Committing genocide makes the survivors fight harder. The One exists because he is the undying wish of the free people who kept getting murdered by the Smiths and the Sentinels.

First thing: You can't consider the Architect and the Oracle disjointed. They're Alpha and Omega of the equation. Second thing, please stop telling about this anomaly-messianic figure; Neo was B-U-I-L-T, that's the word that the Architect uses, to control the Matrix, he's another measure of control, words from Neo himself. As a respected site like yours I expected you've figured it by now. The Architect understood that he needed a lesser mind, a mind less bound by parameters of perfection, so the Oracle offered the Architect another card: na na na not choice but hope! With hope humans have become more and more easy to control. But as hope rises then the messianic figure of Neo, born to control their trust and infiltrate in Zion without knowing it. Neo is Jesus, son of God and God himself as Christian religion teachs. Neo is the Architect "in tha flesh". As Neo rises than the system balances the equation using Smith. Both Architect and Oracle are systemic, can't be deleted, can only be upgraded so the Analyst blocked them in some way, some loop. Without them anyway he's only a program, he doesn't have all the kernel powers of Neo and Trinity that are keeping a backup of the Oracle's and Architect's code inside of them. The Analyst tried and tried to unlock those kernel codes inside of Neo to get those powers but without success, he knows Neo has the keys of the mainframe.

Neo is an "anomaly" not built. Mr. Anderson just chose to fill the shoes of the anomaly because he believed in himself in those moments because of love, which is the true anomaly the machine can't calculate how to control. It's like a random roll of the dice. His "powers" are just the skill of a programmer in love. Love that makes the extra mile easier to go. That pushes the boundaries, the edge.
