God, how I love this show. I hope with all my heart that we get a real President Bartlet someday.

"Jed" Bartlet (no double "d" or double "t")...and yes, Leo's the one whose loyalty got Jed to run for the office in the first place. Trivia: President Josiah E. Bartlet is a descendant of Governor Josiah Bartlet, the first governor of New Hampshire. His middle name is Edward. When he attended school, he tried very hard to fit in w/his classmates despite being the headmaster's son, so he signed his name J. Edward Bartlet, which quickly got shortened to J. Ed Bartlet, and then became just Jed.

Donna checked her for real in a way nobody had in a long time. Dr. Bartlett is a heart surgeon at baseline. Nobody has been that direct to her since she was in fellowship. It’s one of Donna’s greatest moments.

Didn't they also support the religious fundamentalists at times? So it often had nothing to do with resisting invaders, but with helping religious extremists to get into power?

Let me say first of all that I think "The West Wing" was one of the best TV shows ever aired. Nor is this opinion unsubstantiated by critics. It won 3 Peabody Awards, 3 Golden Globe Awards and 26 Prime Time Emmy Awards including consecutive award for Outstanding Drama series from 2000 to 2003 inclusive. So I think that these credits speak for themselves. However, no TV show is immune from criticism and I have to forward my objection to Donna's detrimental characterization of the Canadian mentality. An "inferiority complex" on the part of Canadians may be, to a certain extent, justified but if the truth be told, Americans are far from being on the "safe ground" as far as criticism is concerned. Look at Americans' attitude towards gun control. America is the most gun-crazed, violent society on earth with by far the most incarcerated number of people in the world. Americans simply do not want to give up their guns whether they be pistols or rapid fire assault weapons no matter how many children, students and adults are killed in random shootings. And also please explain to me why approximately 50% of the American population support that narcistic, racist, liar and thief (to name only a few adjectives). God help America if he actually wins the November '24 election. So don't complain to me about the Canadian mentality unless you clean up your own house first.

The show has comedic elements and I believe Donna was being ironic. Also, have you taken this a touch personally. It feels a bit of a 'I am offended, so this must be offensive' scenario, where there really is nothing in it. (FYI I am not American, but either way, taking umbrage about a fictional TV show seems quite pointless)

Terrorism, 100% failure rate... IRA? Look at Storemont today. OK, it's still a mess, but the Sinn Féin is now the party of the First Minister in the Northern Ireland Executive. That's a very successfull outcome of a long terrorist fight. It CAN be successfull, but in the end you need good will on both sides.

Well, being part Irish and born and raised in the largest irish neighborhood in America (South Boston) I can say with full confidence that the Irish may forgive but they never forget and nothing that was a slight to any Irishman I've ever met would consider it over and put it to rest. They are renown for being immune to psychotherapy. So I'd say your take was still *not quite finalized.

Ugh the 1:05 scene with Donna. That is not a dress, that’s a cry for help. And no Donna - you probably shouldn’t drink…unless it’s a milkshake. Sincerely hope Janel Maloney developed a healthier relationship with food - because that is Calista Flockhart level ridiculous…🤢 17:27 the poet laureate says…and I quote… “he took his son and I to go fishing” - lolz - if it were any other character, then who cares. But it’s the poet f***ing laureate. 23:50 what a coincidence…just the other day a *teenager* asked me for my thoughts with the words “what are you struck by most?” 😂 We were all in a weird space after 9/11 - but come on man. Seriously - in 2001 had Aaron Sorkin ever been around a teenager since he *was* a teenager? I’m betting on ‘no’ - and what’s silly is - these people trapped in the commissary didn’t *have* to be naive teenagers for the story to work. They could have just as easily been average people on a WH tour.
