Before MeToo started they where talking about a third 300 style movie, staring Alexander and his Companion Calvary and Silver Shields, putting down the evil empire that had emerged from Xerxes making packs with Dark Gods and Elder Beings (as hinted in the first film then shown in the second film, explains why Xerxes Immortals looked like Zombie Demons lol). The Young Prince Alexander, having seen his family slaughtered by Xerxes monsters, sets out with his outnumbered band of warriors to avenge them. If they thought about turning any point in History into a Fantasy Epic, this is the greatest time period ever. However we can't have nice things in film anymore. Welcome to 2023.

When the music ends (in the end of the video) the last shot should be a unit of Argyraspids lowering their sarissae!!! The last thing the enemy would see... 😉

remember, the silver shields were a bunch of old men. 50-70's. After decades of war, they knew , with out orders , what to do. Seriously. Their minds kicked the asses of younger , stronger men over and over and over.
@roberttaylor3118 Жыл бұрын
Stronger I'm not so sure of. The younger men were likely more vigorous but the argyraspides must have been brutally efficient in battle, almost like terminators. Nervousness or fear would have had little to no impact on them. The younger men were surely faster, but you can still largely keep your strength well into your 60s and even 70s. The older men also should have not had as much stamina, but they seemed to still be used to fighting all day and probably also tons of marching. Couple that with their experience and efficiency and they were apparently unstoppable. Id love to see who would have won the argyraspides at their career best or leonidas' forces at thermopylae. I feel like the argyraspides would have had the edge.
@roberttaylor3118 Жыл бұрын
The argyraspides seemed to have been better at dealing with different kinds of threats than the Spartans since the spartans ultimately couldnt deal with archers since they didnt consider that way of warfare to be honorable or worth acknowledging...which of course didn't stop their phalanxes from losing men to arrows.

Some Fact: Rival states (Potelimaos and Pontus) also had silver shields, but the main majority remained in the Seleucids. Rival states changed the name of silver shields: Egypt: "Gold Shield", Pontus made "Bronze Shield" The origin of the Bronze Shields in Pontus was changed from non Macedon-Greek peoples. Egypt, on the other hand, removed all Argyraspides privileges due to its need for gold, making them ordinary phalanxes. However, in the Seleucids the silver shields continued in a privileged position as descendants of Alexander. The number Silver Shield of Seleucids varies between 5,000 and 10,000 when they are most crowded. However, it has rarely been 10,000. Last silver shields were heavily divided in the Seleucid civil wars. As the Seleucid empire dwindled (lose land), silver shields began to be merchants, not farmers. (It was not like this before, they were all farmers) Silver shields in the city lost their military abilities. The last Seleucid kings had to rely on urban militias. (Milita Hoplites + Levy Pikemen) The regular army is broken... (Antiochus VII Sidetes, the last powerful Seleucid king, rallied the state with militia forces, but his army was destroyed by a Partia raid. He himself died, milita army destroy.) Silver shields who did not go to the city became cavalry. (Hellenic Cataphract) They seized the lands of those who went to the city, they got rich. They got involved in civil war as they got rich. Finally, when Rome arrived, they joined the Roman army en masse. Despite everything, a few small towns on the Antioch coast remained loyal to the Seleucid kings until the last minute. In the municipalities of some of these cities there were people who called themselves silver shields. Sorry for my broken english :) Signature: An archeology student living in Antioch - Modern day "Antakya" in Turkey.

Alexander wasn't Great because he killed his best friend when he drank and burnt PARSE , and he couldn't make a united empire because after his death , whole his empire separated . And he didn't something great for humanity because he just destroyed a Persian empire only for 70 years and after that Parthian's empire kick them out . So he couldn't built a great empire , he couldn't control his anger, he slaughtered and burnt PARSE's city Greatest city in ancient world , so that's why he is not great if you think he is great so Hitler , Attila , Napoleon , were Great too

I have a question for all of you: would you rather have 1,000 men with 10 years of experience or 10,000 men with one year of experience fighting by your side?
@Cliperclaper3 жыл бұрын
Depends on what kind of men the 1,000 were. If they were something like archers then no, but if they were heavy infantry or pikeman, then maybe I could make that work
@romelnegut20053 жыл бұрын
@@Cliperclaper Foot archers could be a shout if you used them for hit and run tactics but those two are what I've envisioned my question to be about. Mounted archers vs regular cavalry could be also a shout.

@@mikepowell8611 Can you share some scenarios?
@monkeyman3213 жыл бұрын
@@Cliperclaper I think it depends on the terrain. The English managed to score a lot of important victories with foot archers. But if you have archers (even if elite) on the desert for instance, they would be utterly wiped out either by cavalry or infantry.
