**Fun fact about Tsar Bomba.** Whilst the largest Nuclear arsenal ever created, the Tsar Bomba was not designed as a weapon, but as a proof-of-concept that larger warheads were possible and to exert psychological pressure on the United States. As for it's strategic use, the bomb wasn't meant to directly hit on a target. Rather, it would land somewhere in the vicinity of the target. The detonation blast would be so large, that it would essentially still hits its target, even if it missed by a few miles.

No one: US and Soviet Union:WE NEED TO GET TO SPACE!!!! Like why did they want to go to space so badly?
@julianus3433
@julianus3433 5 жыл бұрын
Because the Americans (after testing nuclear weapons) realized that making it into space could be an accomplishment the Soviets couldn't top. The Soviets got wind of this, and because it was a way to humiliate the U.S. and didn't involve them getting blown up, they put top priority on it. In fact the U.S. really only went to the moon after Yuri Gagarin made it to space first, so that they might be able to still top the Soviets. If the U.S. made it to space first, the Soviets might have got to the moon first in a reverse situation. -From the desk of someone who knows too much about the 20th century.
