Folks, Carl Barks was one of my greatest inspirations in my youth. Here in Brazil, his comics went full power in the 70s and the 80s, with many Disney publications by Editora Abril, one of the biggest publishers in the country. We always noticed a big difference between Carl's stories and the rest. And they kept it the way it should be: the first and last stories on any publication were always Barks stories! Just for the record, the names of the Duck family in Brazilian Portuguese: Pato Donald (Donald Duck), Tio Patinhas (Uncle Scrooge), Gastão (Gladstone Gander), Vovó Donalda (Grandma Duck), Margarida (Daisy Duck), Huguinho, Luizinho, Zezinho (Huey, Louie, Dewey Duck).

Did anyone ever ask Barks if maybe Tintin was any kind of inspiration for his storytelling? The Tintin stories are about some pretty eccentric, strange travels, exotic adventures full of odd characters, and have a similar feel.

Lost in the Andes which is covered in the video could be Barks best ever considering the fantastic adventureous escapistic story together with absurd some jokes even by Barks standards and exquisite drawings from the Andes. A masterpiece !

Technically he didn't, the show was very loosely based on the comics

I found it! That's the mysterious man behind all the Egmont Donald Duck comics I've read when I was a kid. I always wondered who draw all the comics because they never included his name just a serial number... but I always recognized the style!

It's interesting, as you'd expect a video would HAVE TO be if it starred Carl Barks as the subject, but, sheesh, an editorial and camera-work mish-mash (and who chose the music?---very strange choices). But it does cover quite a range of material and is well-worth a watch---just bear with the odd pacing.

RSEFX, I have to agree... that music is bad enough to put a dog off its dinner 😢

Can anyone tell which tv-interview is the first one (Barks sitting in Donald's living room)? I can't find it by googling it, and its not included in seriesam's list.
