This is an excellent video, specially for the newcomers to the SHF line, great work. Gladly we're getting the Demoniacal Fit 3.0 Goku soon, because it's really really hard to get the Kong figures, not even mentioning their price. Hopefully Bandai doesn't take too long to give us a base Goku with the 3.0 treatment.

I hope we eventually get a figure from Tamashi thats a perfect blend of the more anime/manga accurate sculpts of the 1.0 and 2.0 figures, and the articulation/sytems of the 3.0. I love a lot of the aspects of 3.0 likes the much baggier pants and the godsend shoulders. However, the thick necks and puffy torsos really need to take a step back towards the old bodies designs. Since it really doesnt capture the look/proportions of the character's well imo

The 1.0 and 2.0 fugures were NOT "more anime/manga accurate" the accuracy on most of the 1.0 and 2.0 stuff sucked.

Designs are a moving target. I like the sharper detail and better integration of joints on 3.0, and I think it nails the Cell/Buu/GT Yamamuro-led art style. That style stuck for a long time during the gap between GT and DBS, so I think it's a smart way to go.

Agree completely about drop down hips. The only time I like them is on Hasbro figures. I feel like they work pretty good on them, most of the time.

Interesting. I don't have many Hasbro figures with dropdown hips, but seems like they use plastic with more grab. So maybe not as wobbly as some imports?

Piccolo was the first in 2009 and the goku came out in either 2011 or 2010. Hope this helps.

Yeah DF seem to be somewhat reactive to Tamashii releases, suspiciously so with their SSJ Vegeta and SSJ3 Goku.

Does the shf ultimate 3.0 gohan head fit this demoniacal 3.0 goku? Same pegs? If so easy cheap way to make gohan from super buu fight

Not directly on this 3.0 Goku - the body here is actually the Kong SSJ3, so the neck peg is much bigger. I 3D printed neck pegs for the DF GT Goku head, and the SHF Ultimate Gohan shown in the Beast Gohan review. I will definitely try swapping it on the DF 3.0 Goku once it gets here though, that has a better chance of fitting directly.

I mostly have 2.0s being late to the game on shf, but I've gone back to get a few 1.0s and idk. For the Goku mold I almost prefer them, vegitto works better on 1.0 for instance. I do also like the 3.0s also. Feels like a blend of both previous generations with the legs

Vegito 1.0 is one of the best! No torso cut, so the V goes nice and deep like in Buu saga. There's a fluidity with 1.0 and all its ball joints, but tradeoff is some stability.

One thing that confuses me is with the SS4 Vegita and Goku. Just from their hairstyles, one would think that Vegita would have more head articulation, but this is FAR from the reality. Goku has nearly unrestricted head movement, but Vegita is VERY limited despite his hair primarily being straight up. They are both great otherwise.

My guess is SSJ4 Goku's hair is a little bigger/wider overall, gives more room to maneuver around the neck.

Since you mentioned Power Rangers, I have to ask, have you considered giving Kamen Rider a shot? I feel like Kamen Rider figuarts are probably the best in terms of consistent quality especially since they don't really have to focus on stuff like facial expressions. I would also suggest SHF Super Sentai figures since they're the original Japanese Power Rangers.

I don't collect either myself, but I like to see what others do with them. They do seem like SHF's bread-n-butter and pretty consistently well made, just outside my collecting focus. Same with Power Rangers tbh, I'm just into it for secondhand enjoyment and seeing what's up with the figure designs.

@DriftingDoorway Well, I'd recommend checking out at least one of the figures. It makes sense that Tamashii Nations would put so much effort into them, I mean, it'd be kinda hard to fuck up a helmet too badly lol And on top of that, SHF was originally a Kamen Rider line before branching out.

It is actually possible to bend the 2.0 legs to a split it just requires some maneuvering of the leg joints, but it looks very ugly if you do so even with that information, I still don't like the 2.0 body

I think I know what you mean - better side split if you kick the leg forward, open the hinge, then rotate the thigh forward to cover the hinge. My FP SSJ legs tend to pop off when I try it though.

Yeah that area needs refined. I like 3.0 using separate parts for better color separation, but the blue shirt especially sticks out on Kong's version

I know that the “3.0” body is just Ultimate Gohan but using it as an actual comparison for Goku when it’s just a 3rd party bootleg is a bit sketchy to say the least.

why, also bootleg isn't exactly 100% fair when the actual bootlegs are completely useless garbage and kong and df and tonsen etc. are high quality and almost as good as the real thing, just say third party

⁠​⁠@@dankerbell I know calling them bootlegs may sound unfair but it’s essentially what they are, that is reproductions of official products, sometimes prone to severe QC issues (although bandai also suffers from that).

Bootleg vs 3rd party is a useful distinction in quality. You're right though that 3rd party quality isn't the same as SHF, and I explain the differences here. The point of the video is to show how the different parts work, and since 3rd party Goku uses the same parts as SHF Gohan, it's more than anything an aesthetic choice to compare 3 Gokus instead of Goku, Goku, and Gohan. I'll definitely make an update when SHF makes a standard 3.0 Goku though, but so far they only have SSJ4 and upcoming shirtless SSJ.
