Ironic or not, we are curious that's fact. And consequently more or less slaves of technology, honestly said. And yes, we have our own boredom, but some produce art with that.

There is such a fine line between boredom and rotting which I feel is not spoken about enough. Finding yourself bored and lifting yourself out is incredibly difficult when there are so many things to distract our minds elsewhere primarily online and lounging about, which I feel is why people do not stand still for fear of 'rotting' Life, if nothing else is so paradoxical :-)

YES this is so true, some moments will be ruff and some will be more ease. But the creative mind will create. And even the ruff times can give inspiration and answers in the end. I also got so bored that I made some chores... just from feeling so restless hahaha.

James Joyce had a fart fetish is the fun fact I didn't know that I needed, thank you. I'm looking forward to an opportunity to pass this info on to an unsuspecting victim, over dinner or in an awkward silence or something. And my god, could someone who cared about him not have edited the contents a bit before publishing or just... not published them!

I share your anxiety about the deleterious effects of heavy social media/computer use. I have a sneaking suspicion that it has made it harder for me to read and pay attention to a book I'm reading. I still manage to read a couple books per month, but I'm a slow reader and I can't even read without stopping to look at my phone periodically. I wish I wasn't this way, but oh well.

Dakota's video reminds me of Marcel Proust's beautiful novel "In search of lost time". In it he suddenly remembers his childhood and past life, and rumenates on his loves and experiences of beauty in many forms. It's definitely a book to help combat this modern age, to help with what is important, and to help to slow down and notice beauty all around you.

Hey Dakota. So I was wondering, as you have said that finishing a journal is one of your greatest pleasures, what is the redeeming quality which makes keeping your writing worth it? I have written so much and enjoy it as well, but I find that throwing a journal out and finishing one to leave it sitting in a closet is more or less the same thing. I have written about worldly issues, personal anecdotes, and more. Still, most of the time retrospect makes said pieces feel moot. What is it that preserves the value of your work for you? Aesthetic, archiving, intention, authenticity? Much love from NYC (if that is even worth brandishing anymore 😂)

You can be in boredom only when you don't have any interest in, nor attention to anything else other than doing nothing. Hence, there is not any sort of art in such a state of mind, while it requires imagination and creativity. Boredom can happen when you are saturated with too much of something, which paralyses or numbs your senses. Inspiration is like consuming food, in which you want to eat only when you feel hungry. But after having got a big meal, you will no longer want to eat anything. Therefore, keeping other activities in your life than reading books and writing can give you an inspirational thirst for writing. When there are too much of reading and writing in your daily life, that's when your inspirational thirst no longer exists.

Now mix this with the realization that each of us are immortals, eternals, gods/goddesses, infinites. To be aware of being limited and put to a point of gentleness is a very humbling way. To me this allows us to be more open to love, gratitude, forgiveness, and simply enjoying the little things that then become big within those moments. What a beautiful medium (:

Forget boredom but look up some Asian takes on life, meditation and mindfullness just to name two. It can be a slippery slope getting it wrong from the get go. Deviating from the norm (normal) is ok if you can make it work. Often times when I watch these kind of video's can't help but think there is more the matter than meets the eye.
