Thank you - that was just what I wanted; a clear demonstration without loads of waffle. I can't wait to get started on my own piece now.

That was very interesting! Could that work with a lightweight cotton instead of the silk?
@TheWeekendArtist9 ай бұрын
Yes, absolutely. really lightweight cottons are great. Some people use cheese cloth that is light and very open weave. Also muslin and Lawn cottons are good. if you can breathe through it and see through it, the fabric will work for nuno becuse the wool fibre scales can pierce through and lock in to the fabric. Best is natural fabric. while it is possible to use artificial fibre fabric, it can mean a lot more effort and work to get the wool to attach. Thank youfor your question and especially thankyou for watching!

Even better with lightweight cotton , especially open weave like a medical gauze or very thin voile . If you can see through it, breathe through it, it is a good candidate for nuno felting. Beware of synthetics which can be very dense even when thin.

what else would you like to know about nuno felting? I would love to hear from you. 😊

You talked about under felting and then doing more. How do you know when to stop? And how do you keep the shrink even? I'm at the very beginning of my felting journey. I'm making a pair of slippers and I'm loving creating textile out of wool I found on a fence 😂.

wow, that was a timely question... I am just in the process of making a video for beginning felters. In this video I will answer your question with the benefit of images which will hopefully make it all clearer. I would love your feedback if you get to watch it. hopefully I will be able to finish editing this week. Really good questions and yes all of these things are possible.
