What is nuno felt? Simple explanation for the new felter.

Join me as I share a simple explanation of the nuno felting process and recommend materials for the novice felter. In essence, nuno felt is made by combining a high percentage of fabric with a low percentage of wool or other animal fibre and felting these together until they form a totally new piece of fabric. Polly Sterling and her Japanese studio assistant Sachiko Kataka first pioneered the technique in Australia. This was in direct response to their desire to felt wearable items suitable for a very hot climate.

Is saree silk easy to migrate into wool in nuno felting?

I have always found saree silk felts easily and so does turban cotton!

Thank you Nicola. I bought a saree from an Ebay seller. It finally arrived from India so I want to try nuno felting. I like that it uses less wool. I do not have a local wool source.@@clasheen
