Ori's one of those games that never gets old. I haven't played WotW as much, but I have over 100 hours in blind forest and I'm STILL noticing little things about the background. The art direction in these games are absolutely phenomenal, and even after seeing it dozens of times it still drives home the power of the game's story beats and the majesty of its world. God, it's gorgeous

To this day I have never had such an emotional response to a game. This is in part down to the story. However the visuals and the music make these two games my favorite gaming experience of all time. Everything about the Ori games is simply beautiful. I NEED this book!
@mariac63793 жыл бұрын
You know, I tried to describe how amazing and beautiful the Ori games are, and was met with "We get it, it's beautiful. It's pretty." I'm so happy to hear someone else talk about the incredible art of these games with the same excitement, awe, and respect I have for them. I was starting to think I might be crazy, lol.

I dont know how you do it. But you make me tear up in every video you make. Your voice is awesome, your script is awesome, your taste of music and art is aweseome. Your views on the world and our feelings as artist are irreplacable and i am very thankful to have found you in a time of struggle. You calm my mind and help me focus on my work. You help to shut out all the bad voices in my head. Thank you so much! Even in a book review you can touch on my emotions! I loved the art of Ori and it originating in austria gave me hope to find a propper workspace in austria in the future. Where there is hope, ambition and creativity there is a place for us!

Was exited to see Ori make it to top visuals for the Steam awards, the game design and artistic style is brilliant. With how well Ori flowed and transitioned from jump to dash to the near constant threat of danger in the dune areas to the east which is just as unforgiving as the bright and colourful, but dangerous, floral that layed to the west. From a visual side, nothing ever being a dull moment; from the snow and ice to the old water wheel and cogs, always something interesting and pleasing to the eye to see. The Devs really set the bar high for WotW over Blind forest. thanks for doing a look through of the art book! i might just jump back into another play through of the game

Ahhhh thank you for doing a review of this!! I discovered Ori and the Blind Forest just before the pandemic last year, and I absolutely fell in love with it. I've never been so touched by a video game before. The chimerical characters were beautiful of course, but those environments just grabbed my soul. The story and music completely pulled me in and helped make the game a full sense experience. I can't wait to play Ori and the Will of Wisps! 😊

I especially loved the Silent Woods atmosphere where the Shriek lives. That desolate, silent, melancholic place send shivers down my spine :D

No other game has made me cry as much as Ori and the Will of the Wisps. I literally sat around the house stunned after finishing it. I'd like to play through this game again and get all the achievements but I'm still crippled by the sadness of the ending....I'm having a hard time dealing with it. If you're looking for another game with stunning visuals and design, you should try Okami HD if you haven't already. I actually have the art book and it's absolutely gorgeous.

I am sure it's on many people's minds and it has probably been said before, but I wanna send some love your way Adam for giving such a vibrant insight of art. I always find myself immersed in the things you have to say. Every sentence has meaning and depth to it and I really don't understand why my art teachers just can't even come close to what you're doing. They talk and talk but in the end they don't say anything. Thank you for your amazing videos and insihts into art. ♥

apparently the correct multiple for octopus is octopuses. Octopi is incorrect because the 'i' at the end is for nouns with a Latin base. Octopods is also acceptable. Wonderful video, by the way. As someone who is studying animation and game design but hasn't always enjoyed side scrollers, Ori and the Blind forest (which is the only one of the two that I've played), flips a totally different switch in my brain. The UI design was also fantastic.

Ori (both parts) is amazing game, the atmosphere, the characters, the music, the story - unique and perfectly crafted. The art, the design, colors all add to gaming experience and are delightful on it's own. Incredible work, definitely on of my favourites of all time. Also moki are the cutest) Even the ending was a bit sad, but soothing and satisfying. But dat freaking sand worm! It sure tested my patience and pushed me to the limits of my physical abilities, as I played with keyboard+mouse. I bought the first Ori game based only on the look, aesthetics and the design of the game, because I was liking the mood simply looking at the screenshots. The first minutes of the game are a masterpiece and make us chop onions! But, shame on me!, I still haven't finished the game: I'm not good at platformers (and since I don't have a controller, I'm playing with my mouse and keyboard on PC and really struggling!). I feel like giving it another try now! :)

Great review as always! :) One thing I'd like to add- I know this channel focuses mainly on the visual arts, but I absolutely cannot think about Ori without thinking of it's spectacular, yet tender and quite frankly healing (at least for me) soundtrack by Gareth Coker. I would wholeheartedly recommend anyone, whether they have played the game or not, to go and give it a listen. Seriously, it's that good and it compliments all the events in the game beautifully.

To add on to your Hayao Miyazaki point: The Edo period in Japanese art introduced blank white faces on the characters depicted in the stories on the woodblocks (similar to the stylization in European portrait art which seems odd from out point of view) - so we, the viewer, can project whatever emotion we think suits the painting best.
