Welcome to a philosophical and psychological exploration where we dive deep into the concepts of self-love and selfishness, unraveling their secret role in leading a good life.
In this video, we journey through the teachings of celebrated psychologists and philosophers such as Carl Rogers, Friedrich Nietzsche, Abraham Maslow, Aristotle, Ayn Rand, Epictetus, Jean-Paul Sartre, Buddha, and Erich Fromm. We decode their perspectives on self-love and selfishness, shedding light on the crucial balance between these concepts for our mental health, personal growth, and overall well-being.
Join us as we challenge traditional perceptions, unpack nuanced interpretations, and understand how these ideas contribute to personal development. We delve into fascinating concepts, from Rogers' perspective on self-love and Nietzsche's take on selfishness to the Stoic philosophy of self-care and the existentialist pursuit of authenticity.
Each philosopher and psychologist lend their wisdom to this intricate tapestry, helping us understand the complex interplay between self-love, rational self-interest, and personal development. Through their insights, we learn how to channel these concepts into real-world applications, paving the way for a life of balance, self-awareness, and personal growth.
So, sit back, relax, and prepare for an enlightening journey that will redefine how you perceive yourself and your relationship with the world. This is more than just a philosophical exploration; it's a guide to loving oneself, pursuing rational self-interest, and nurturing personal growth. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to learn from the best minds in philosophy and psychology.
Remember, the journey towards self-love, healthy selfishness, and personal development is lifelong. So why not start now? Subscribe to our channel, hit the bell icon for notifications, and stay tuned for more enriching content.

The ultimate irony is, that when we focus on being our best selves, we serve society. When we focus on service first, without the self-work, we are of value to no one.

you lack the most important ingredient, our best selves isn't ourselves at all. It's the truth. I'm going to copy paste what I mean from another comment the love of self is idiocy. The love of truth is the way. Proof: if you follow your heart you may become addicted to drugs and destroy yourself. If you love truth you will hate anything that destroys even 1 neuron, for your neural network is the mirror of truth, your true self, that is the consciousness in which we are all one. Enlightened selfishness is the salvation of the world, for then nobody would work for others (only idiots work for others; a man loves a woman because he loves himself or the way he feels about her, so he works for his love of her, not for her, same about children). If everyone stops working for others, wars stop, capitalism fails and dissapears... all the strife in the world is due to idiots. Yes, all employees are idiots, as you'ld have to be stupid or desperate to work for others, bosses exist only for the dumb, the slave minded Which are you so what do you love? Your body which is your property? Or your soul which is a set of immortal principles, because truth is eternal and the fundamental principle (and logic is its anatomy). If you love your body, the body is your god. If you love truth, truth is your god, and there's only one god who claimed identity with truth itself P.S. Buddla is a liar, and all other philosophers are dabblers. There is no growth without some form of suffering, and eliminating suffering is eliminating growth. Funny how almost nobody seeks god when happy, but god is truth, then suffering is his plan to elevate us to his level. There is also such thing as unecessary suffering, pretty much the kind we bring on purpose - try to go far first, then you will find adversity undoubtedly, that's just how it is, and confronting, not avoiding suffering, is the way. The obstacle is the way

People always say, “I’ll take care of you, If you’ll take care of me” but If you think about it, that is a very selfish way of viewing things. So, I’ve changed it to say, “I’ll take care of me, for you, if you’ll take care of you, for me”. I feel that is a much healthier way to look at self care without becoming selfish.

Selfish in a sense self-focused or self-caring is a good thing. Selfish in a sense egotistical: violating boundaries and comfort of other people for the sake of one's convenience is a bad thing. Or, in shorter wording, Doing what you want is not selfish. Making others do what you want is.

Selfish is just being real, all the people who think they are people pleasers, who sit and bitch about how they get shit on, are really just in it for their own selfish expectations and when they dont get what they want they talk shit about the people they were nice to so they can feel better about themselves. Just be real and prioritize you and quit trying to trick people into being nice to you. You can still be nice, just be nice without expectation of reward, be nice selflessly and more importantly, be nice to you and stop decieving yourself with your better than thoough complex. Its a lie.
@frcomet5009
@frcomet5009 10 ай бұрын
U got certain things here correct and incorrect u said stop being nice without expecting a reward that's false. The problem is people become either to nice or to aggressive instead you need to know when to use each one. Look at them like tools to get what you want. Being nice all the time is mentally retarded. For instance u have a girlfriend she says happy bday baby u say thank you nd she say for ur bday ur gnna have sex with me nd u go omg ur the best. Ur making a fatal error right here. #1 she's putting in very low effort to you . She didn't think long nd hard about how to make ur day special and ur use to accepting that. Instead you can go that's all?? Just happy bday that's not putting in no effort go back to the drawing board nd try again actully go think about what would make me happy then let me know. Nd if she tries to give u another awnser u go I told u to think about it! Can u not listen or follow directions???? Is ur listening low effort as well on top of ur thinking for others???. Now in doing this depending on the girl u have it may make her go oh shit I am putting barely any effort into him I need to go do better. Or she'll get angry nd there's ways to deal with that as well. But most guys just go oh ok baby thank u baby love u baby ur the best. U need to know how nd when to use each of ur tools.

Clear communication is key. Having a clear understanding & not making assumptions about others is vital to one's well-being. We all responsible for how we conduct our lives as we see fit. If that means others will not agree, so let it be. We can't always please & make someone else happy without sacrificing oneself. Know your limitations & self-worth. Putting yourself first is important to create your best you. Don't be afraid to speak up & no one can make you feel obligated or guilty 'cause you are fulfilling your own needs ahead of theirs

I had a strange dream from having played this on a loop on my sleep headband. Dream: I had been staying a couple days with my parents because at the time I was couch hopping and when I had arrived back home from a very low budget apartment search he was there on the couch watching something on the living room tv. He had a laptop and some notes with him and I asked him what he was doing and he showed me. He said he was doing research on: "The Human Avatar" I asked him to expand and he told me some of the key points in this video and filled in something's. The only thing I could foremost remember that he told me was "people who have to advertise how attractive they are in someway are like a noisy wall outlet" I was shooketh.

much abuse and neglect and death and Trauma was my childhood and subsequently i did not develop or have certain parts of the maslow hierarchy of needs . i lived life trying to love others and be normal , i attracted co dependant type and narcissists .I never knew what self love was . 5-7 years was my relationship spans . I did very well in all other aspects of life and achieved much but could never find the one who loved me as i was , with my inner distance and all . and i could not fulfill the neediness of the women i thought loved me . i know my blind spots but could never belong or fit in to it all . now older i really see the significants of how the early days really shaped who i became and the hollow spots the left . philosophy on how to be alone has helped me face growing old alone and unloved . Peace . thanks for the vid

If you share ♥️ it and talk about it it can be a moment of becoming closer. If you're not married yet, think twice about living forever with someone who doesn't understand this. If you're already married...good luck ❤

@@nancyhanscom1374 honey I’m referring to being selfish a relationship is of 2 not of one, both are sharing a life together, compromise and relinquishing control and what you want sometimes has to occur

Selfishness isn’t a good thing. I get what is being said but I’d say it’s focusing on yourself and loving yourself, not being selfish. Maybe a certain level of selfishness.

@itsmefrank6187 silly.. if you dont care about yourself.. you can't care for others.. properly anyway.. leads to neediness clinginess codependency resentment and overall trauma.. relationships based in self love shared fare much better. Selfishness is the most altruistic thing to do.

@@AnthonyPardiMusic when taken to the extreme it's obviously narcissistic. We should all practice self love to a healthy degree, but once you neglect those who supported you and sacrificed for you, you're a full blown narcissist wether you care to admit it or not. Most people here are narcissists and need self validation for their brittle egos. In your case it's obvious it's an epiphany or a revelation to keep being a POS! Consider it constructive criticism on the content instead of a personal blow to your already eggshelled ego. Sonic boom!

Nope opposite. They're the secret to a bad life. Everyone hates you wants to rob you & it's difficult to show your face in public. Be humble & moral. You'll feel better in the morning too.😂❤
