Changing thinking to get your desired outcomes, is the hardest work you'll ever do. It takes great strength to overcome mental vices, and lower natured thoughts. If you are struggling with overcoming fear, and absolutely fed up trying to figure it out, remember that it's all necessary to your development. Control yourself, and you will control the direction of your life. Start now!
@Damons-Old-Soul
@Damons-Old-Soul Жыл бұрын
The action itself is very simple. How difficult it is for any given person, is entirely dependent on how much they fight it. "Strength" as you put it, is of a weak mind and a state of fear. The answer is simple, flip the coin. Better yet, see only the coin.
@sf7809

@@Damons-Old-Soul could you elaborate? I'm struggling a lot with fear at the moment
@Damons-Old-Soul
@Damons-Old-Soul Жыл бұрын
@@sf7809 When we attempt to force our will on the world around us, it is from a state of fear. That person is afraid of some perceived outcome that they are attempting to control. "Fear" in this sense is a broad term that loosely means to be coming from a state of resistance. The opposite of fear is love. When talking about opposites, there is an old saying that they are: "flip sides of the same coin." So by me saying to flip the coin, I am suggesting to look at "it" from the opposite perspective from the one currently being seen through. In this case, love. A practical way of accomplishing this is by writing out what you fear. Name it. Then define it: "what is it exactly?" "What outcome do you perceive coming from it." The better you know something, the less fear it can instil in you. When I said "better yet, see the coin," I was referencing the ability to realize that (in this case) Love and Fear are simply opposite ends of the same emotion. Someone obsessed with another person may feel that they love that person. In reality they are afraid to lose or not have that person. This is fear masquerading as love. I hope this helps.

I've changed alot the last 5 years training the mind was the beginning. Every action starts within your mind
@Damons-Old-Soul
@Damons-Old-Soul Жыл бұрын
@@happylarry7533 Yes it does, start in the mind. Hopefully said change has been for the better. Training one's mind is never accomplished with force. If the mind changes, it has been allowed to do so. If not, it is a game of charades with one's self, with no real change having occurred.

"Why do I allow people, experiences or things determine how I'm going to think, feel or act?"
@22f94
@22f94 Жыл бұрын
Because you (not you, but figuratively) have placed high expectations from people to meet your core values - that are ingrained into you; rather than, supposedly, from within yourself. As long as you hold yourself accountable to/responsible of/ true to your values, and validate yourself based on those values intrinsically, you’ll careless about allowing people to control your thinking, feeling and actions. Therefore, you become the person you would have betted on becoming.

Manyof us are governed by our insecurities, and inadequacies. Because of this, many of respond emotionally. Many of us are incapable of even basic critical thinking because we are governed by insecurities. The art, or craft of critical thinking is based on ones ability to take full ownership of ones life. To not be swayed, manipulated by others.

It’s similar to stoic teaching simply explained the art of thinking… The outside stimuli and our reaction to it according to our LEVEL of consciousness… and to what extent we are affected by what we think about the experience outside of ourselves- external stimuli ( positive or negative) and how to think rightly that can keep us peaceful at all situations. We also have a choice to allow what things are peace, pleasant or vice Versa.

I actually did this yesterday, so funny how this popped up. We was playing cards with my father and uncle. I was on tilt so naturally I was in a bad mood even though I was very productive during the day and had nun to worry about. But then suddenly I kind of snapped (granted, I had to go wash my face with cold water) and started cracking jokes and got in better mood. And voila, I drew trip aces, the highest one can get!🤣 me getting the aces was coincidental, but me changing my mood was all me! Great video.

This is all well and I have practiced for many years. The issue is strengthening the mind to resist because devils will attack that resistance over and over until they tear down or penetrate your peace and get you to react no matter what. Where is it written walk around the walls of Jericho three times and those brick walls will fall. That’s how it is people do it purposely and cause you to fall you don’t do all alone. Then pick yourself up and start again. That is why there is always a new day that is the New Year everyday you wake up is your New Year.

We are not the body. Which means the brain, while accessible to us, does not think for us. UNLESS we will the brain to think for us, it will always produce random thoughts. If we choose to revisit the past, the brain is happy to oblige; it is indeed, a record of the past. If we want to ponder the future, the brain can not help us. It has to refer us to the Self realized entity known as the mind. If we want to look at the day as it passes, we will find ourselves under a constant barrage of thoughts about past events, and imagination also plays its part. Human Beings are very complex.

Alright, I'm open to this idea that we can control our thoughts. I understand from the lecture that it is hard and needs discipline, but how? If I'm upset the best I can do is know I'm not thinking clearly and sometimes I leave the room so I don't make others miserable until the negative feelings just go on their own. It's almost like a chemical law. If there's a lion in front of me I will be afraid. How is it possible to control emotions?
@AustinLMNOP1
@AustinLMNOP1 Жыл бұрын
Catalogue your emotions for a day or two vi writing. Look at the situations in which certain emotions arise, use that as a template for identifying any situation that gives you any emotional response, especially negative ones. Learn to identify the circumstance by truly observing the emotion. Once you’re able to identify when you’re in a circumstance that usually makes you feel any given emotion ( again especially negative ) consistently, you can Stop your self in the process of creating whatever emotion and make a conscious decision to feel otherwise. The key is to practice catching the emotions as it happens it takes time but once you have a pretty good general sense of when and why a certain emotion is triggered in that moment you can truly make a decision to feel something more productive.
