Warren isn’t dead. But he is living in Detroit. Some people say that’s so close to being dead that the difference is merely academic.

It is a story with an underlined suspense. It speaks of evil that hides in the shadows and never really goes away. This is indeed a masterpiece. Thank you, Ian!

I looked up the author, as the name eluded my memory, and her character in this story has a brother like mine with the same name. She is the author of Mark Twain and Me! I’d loved the movie that was made from it when I was little and then read the book which was equally as good, (as almost but not quite as equally interesting to a child). It’s funny how things come round again in life. Small world 🗺 thanks! I really enjoyed this! I hope to hear more from women authors like this!

Nineteen: Carter was astonished, bemused, “but what on earth,” he rasped, “made you so determined to get to me ?” “To be completely frank with you sir it was going to be more than my job’s worth not to,” the Postman informed Carter, “because for a bunch of mostly elderly librarians those people up at the Miskatonic University can be a bunch of absolute twats.” Randolph Carter who had rallied but briefly coughed painfully. “You really have no idea,” he croaked and then he fainted dead away.

It's sort of developed a life all of it's own. Strictly speaking that was the end; but there''s still an Epilogue and a short Disclaimer to go. Then I can go back to simply enjoying the stories again at my leisure with my wife. Having started it though I felt that I couldn't simply leave it hanging half way though, but it was becoming a bit of a chore to be honest.

Just in case you were becoming concerned that this might become a regular, "thing," it won't. I'm not dragging it out; this such as it is is the story as it came to me. I more or less completed it as a draft a couple of months back and when it ends, (there are still two, "sections," left to go,) that's it, I've no intention whatsoever of doing another one. It's been a bit of personal whimsy and nothing more, I haven't even kept a copy of it. Take care.

Funny style these old tales. They end without what I would call resolution. Spoiler A more modern take would be a page for page remake but an exciting 15 minute adventure to find the girl at the end and what was down the path. It was good that it engaged me and I wanted more but dissapointed me in its conclusion. I guess I'm to used to everything on a plate. It is a theme through a lot of things you read, almost like those old 'tales of the unexpected' You fool Ann is dead. Sad😢.

Idk, to me this is missing a bit of information. Just anything bad happening at all; so far, all we know is that this door has a general evil vibe, made an artist paint on it, and became a...portal to another dimension. Yeah, a person vanished, but there is no evidence in the story they didn't just...go through and lose their way. Idk, I think this is a little too short for my liking. It's good to leave things up to the reader's imagination, but there's literally nothing here at all.

It's a combination of elements thrown together in Photoshop. Quite pleased with the outcome, though to be fair, our original intention was to produce something closer to the door described in the story.

idk about the ethics of accusing someone of being an artist just because theyre near paints and an easel. someone couldve planted those, you should give people the benefit of the doubt :/
