"Afford" isn't right. They can afford literally anything. The less they provide while meeting serviceable objectives is how they make Jeff his money. Normally the burden on squeezing as much as possible is put on the workers, not servers we can see the effects of directly.

My experience was getting into 3500 at 1am, going to sleep. Waking up at 2am, seeing I am still in queue. Goin back to sleep for 2 more hours. Then seeing I am kicked for being AFK then switching servers to a 200 queue server.

The queues for this game are bizarre. I sat in queue at position #29 for half an hour earlier. It started at 32, went down 3 very quickly and then sat there at 29 until I backed out and quit the game. I've never played an online game before period that implemented queues and the number didn't move once in a half hour.

Those queues are why i have 3 level 15 characters on different servers (in 2 regions). I made one right as the Eastern US servers came up, and got in immediately, played til @ noon, then logged to go get lunch and a few other errands. Came back to a 1500 person wait, made a new char on a low pop western server, then had to log for dinner. Came back to a long wait for that server. So made a third char on one of the new eastern servers.

Okay, I have to know. Is New World even good? Like, it looks interesting, but it also looks like the game where after a week people are going to notice a shit ton of issues or stale bits. Is there anything else to do besides grind for stuff and PVP with the stuff you grinded? I know there's faction PVP, but you can easily just join the winning side as pointed out. Is there any side activities? Fishing? Maybe mini-games? Do you drop your stuff when killed in PVP by another player? It being $40 and having no subscription cost SEEMS nice, but like... is that just going to give excuse to a cash shop? And will it be dead within 3 months?

Once you get your shinnies, there is nothing to progress on character wise. Pve is a rushed addition to the game and is the main way of gearing up. If you enjoy pvp, it might be a good game. Crafting is gather several hundred thousand mats to craft rng loot kind of thing, it's not too in depth really.

Not everyone realizes that their server is a streamer server or the streamer goes to their server after. When I joined a server, there was 0q cuz it was early in the day but I found out later that it was a streamer server when I had a 2k player q to get in but I was already committed to that server

I don't know, I still am not impressed with alot of the visuals, character models, or some animations like jumping looks very blah, rolling seems like something from ps2 era. Combat seems mid-level okay and while I have liked the idea of the story since the beginning I'm not sure Amazon fleshed it out enough. My theory is this won't catch "enough" peoples interest and it'll just be another Rift or Tera or at best Lotro but the big difference is I doubt if Amazon doesn't get the monetary numbers they hope they are likely to just shut the game down. I probably won't pay attention to it much so I don't ruin the story but if it's doing ok in 6 months or a year I'll consider it.

It's the most popular game on steam. I highly doubt that everyone is playing and desperately trying to play because it's just mediocre to them. Yes, there are some technical issues, some glitchy animations, but I think as long as Amazon keeps content flowing quickly, it'll remain very popular. Perhaps not the most popular game on steam forever, but top 10, probably.

My friend waited for the entire queue and just as he was about to get in he got an error message and the game auto-closed. When he tried logging back in, he was at the back of a 10k+ queue. Since he and everyone else who got the same error message had under 2 hours played, it is safe to say this was definitely planned. What made everything worse was the Americans flooding European servers preventing people in Europe from playing in their own region.
