You are experiencing the exact same content. And you will run out just as quick. Unless you like farming 8 hours a day non stop for a small amount of xp for a certain traitskill. Nothing big has been added yet. So dont talk like its better game now. Only bug fixes here and there. Next to that the game is so much worse. 20k people... really. That must be a boring mmo. With 900k it was wild. Untill we reached endgame... that was when almost the full 900k left mate. So prepare to be dissapointed.

Let alone a brand new MMO, which had been redesigned several times over. It launched as a minimally viable product, there was something for everyone. Then they start adding onto that as time goes on. That's what live service games do.

Shadowbane was my first MMORPG. It remained my favorite game of all time, despite being plagued with bugs, lag, and bad servers. It was full open world pvp, zero quests, just grind mobs for xp and loot… then form a guild and build a city/castle with walls and go to war with other guilds… where if you lost a siege on your city, it was destroyed. Game is dead and gone now, but I still miss it and wish a new game would come out that is similar. But it probably never will because most players can’t handle the cutthroat gameplay of losing the city you spent 2-3 months building in 3 days.

@@stellarjayatkins4749 Open world free style PvP just doesn't work as a long term investment. Sure, you'll get a huge influx of PvP zealots in the beginning, but it dies down pretty quickly. Had New World concentrated more on the PvE aspects of the game, perhaps it wouldn't be dead in the water right now. Love it or hate it, the casual PvE player is where the long term money is. And as a side note, I played Shadowbane...it was a gankfest and a troll paradise, but I actually enjoyed the gameplay and character styles. I had a birdman and loved the concept. I haven't seen that type of character done since in any MMO, sadly.

@@jacobyrassilon yeah, the Aracoix and the Irekei races in SB were pretty unique. My friend made a coix thief that the entire server hated. He couldn’t kill anything, but was super fast, had tons of health and stamina, and he would rob farming groups blind and never get caught even when they brought scouts out to catch him. The ability to interact with other players and actually steal items and gold they farmed right out of their bags, or just kill them and loot their bodies was soo much fun.

The problem with new world is that the developers were way too late to meet the players expectations and feedback. The high cost of azoth fast travel, separated town storage, lately implemented gypsum upgrade, and server merger were relentless problem that were not addressed until 7 months later. They do not understand the game for the longest time. Players leave.

No, they shouldn't need to listen to random teenagers, that's just desperate. Good dev team knows what they're doing and make their rules. IMO there shouldn't have been fast travel at all, except horses. The game just didn't have content. Also, all the simps left for other games with their favorite streamers, just like they likely came to New World anyway. Many of them probably don't even like like games they start playing just because the hype train did.

Not to mention the difficulty of the mobs you are ON-LEVEL for with ON-Level gear is so high that either you have to be a Tank or a light-weight who can Dark Souls roll or you die. No in-between and it caused me to quit the game. Tired of mobs being aggroed from blocks away in the tens making me run away or die. on top of that things still attack you no matter what level you are. lvl 3 things still attack me at level 60.

They fixed it but it was too late. Too late has implications to players quiting. Low players means low chances of doing outpost rush and expeditions.

The real problem of these so called wow killers is that they've put too much effort in trying to be a wow 2.0 with better graphics rather than their own thing, and ultimately fail or failed mainly because of two reasons: 1) they aren't or weren't as accomplished in the industry as blizzard is and was for them to do so 2) abysmal content support after release. Mmo are marathons. Not sprints. If you have little to nothing to offer once your game has been released, you're pretty much DoA.

I no-lifed a Musket/Hatchet "Patriot" build at launch, and that was pretty rewarding in PvE and PvP. But yeah, the QoL killed it for me, even though I really liked the aesthetic and fell in with a fun group of folks. Even the rotation/play loop, while simple, I liked the modularity of it. I still prefer the crafting jobs in NW to WoW or FF14, but otherwise, cant disagree with Asmon. Its broke, and the World PvP didn't help.

It's becoming too common for games to launch early and they being terrible due to that along with not listening to suggestions or player bases nowadays. So many games launch and with first impressions ruin it and improve over time we need to change that.

They've improved it further with a new skill in Music and they'll be adding the Great Sword and a new region in a few months. Expertise is guaranteed to be +5 via gypsum system, so you don't have to do chest farms for loot. However, certain components are still locked to lvl +35 chests so chest runs are still good but not mandatory. Servers are a bit shakie from all the merges and getting normal raids together is not casual friendly (they removed orbs so now you just get a flat 25 raids and 15 mutated raids per week) so good luck getting one unless you're in a clan/your friends still play. Bosses drop some good loot, but you'll have to do enough damage to them to get drops and the good bosses are camped. Also, PVP gives good rewards but it's all in the track system so don't expect regular drops in open world. Invasions and Outpost Rush (OPR) are alright for loot, but you better have 30 minutes minimum to waste on it. I rate the changes a "it's better than it was before but not enough to bring my friends back" out of "I have crippling anxiety so I don't try and join other clans to get loot". (7.1/10)

the thing is, i was also against the shared storage. i was also against all the waypoint teleporter. i was also against quick travel. and because they are comming, i was also against MOUNTS. but that was all because we were told that it will be perma open world pvp, and that was the point of the game. pretty much danger everywhere. gather stuff and bring it to a city witch doesnt have the that specific resource around. struggle with the world............ but............. well, we dont even have ONE pk server........... Albion is a very solid game! The personalize-able combat/gear/skill system, economy, gathering, and crafting are all top notch. There's always something productive/exciting to do. The big update ~6 months ago also overhauled the open world in some great ways too. *Major Downside:* In the full-loot PvP zones it's very often dominated by large groups (~8-15) that literally stand around camp ganking bottlenecked areas, making it very difficult to do higher level content. Other than this "who has the most friends online" simulator, it's an amazing game, but the devs really need to do something to disincentivize this behavior. Give it a shot though as it has a lot going for it.

@@orbbb24 The tutorial was improved a good while back to help with the basics. There is also more content added in the past 1-2 years: faction warfare in the yellow/red zones(feels sorta like open world Alterac Valley where you fight for one of the 6 cities of your choosing and build rep with them over time), treasure chests to fight over in the open world, roads of Avalon for small group labyrinth of portal-linked zones, and open world mobs naturally upgrade over time. They spawn in as basic recruits and they upgrade over time if not killed. Kinda like recruit>soldier>veteran>elite>mini boss. The loot/fame for the latter two can be quite nice and makes exploring worthwhile. That said, it's definitely still a sandbox game and it's very much still about finding your niche. Let me know if you try it again and I can help :)

The sad part is that New World was the FIRST mmo since Ultima Online that really captured me..... being able to 1vX pvp and fight ppl across different levels, still being able to kill a higher level dude if you played better.... this was all so good!! ... its such a HUGE shame they changed everything and tried to cater to the casual wow mmo type playerbase. If they had kept their original vision of a PVP mmo, I think they would have had a decent population, even through hardship, because PVPers don't have a lot of choices in good MMO's and since PVPers only rely on other pvpers in order to have fun, it's a lot easier keeping a PVP playerbase happy, than the carrot-chasing next-item-level-upgrade casual wowboi.

i think new world just needs like 3-4 very good patches that go smoothly, they've done one good one so far which was this last one, which did introduce a few issues but nothing major that broke the game. i don't think people want to start playing the game (even if they like the aesthetics) if it's just going to break again in a few weeks. i lost faith in the team for a few months but still came back to see how they did but im also much more forgiving because i really liked the game early on but other people that didn't even make it to 60 wont care to come back unless they can prove that they can actually patch the game without making it worse than what they patched. that's just the basics that they can't get right, if the 3v3 arena is a success that's going to give people more hope for the future patches. then they need to do the same thing for dungeons and for new content (i dont care for pve but it's necessary). for me, as long as they do the PvP right that's all i care about and ill put up with the pve grind just to make sure i can enjoy the pvp by having the best gear i can farm / buy. next big pve thing should be raids, if they can make a really good raid system with guaranteed BIS gear for all the different classes then i think it will bring back the hardcore pve nerds too.

Remember farming the terror wolf. they dropped 3 life quintessence and 88 wyrdwood. we all can agree those are crazzy numbers. Their solution? i just checked today.. they now drop 1 wyrdwood. 1 !. its like we cant bother to balance this so it makes sense. just nerf it to the ground. And we will look at it later.. later meaning never.

Can confirm, I stopped playing until just recently because of the initial watermark system and how to grind it. Enjoying it again now, went from 520 to 600 in 2 weeks

Wait for the next patch. They are adding in 3v3 arenas. PvP overhaul, PVP currency, and a LOT more things focused strictly on PvP for both low and high level players. Also don't forget all the QoL updates they've added over these months. It's in a way better state but sadly its end game Currently is still MIA for the most part. But worth checking out again soon IMO.

I dont like new world but at 10:11 hes complaining about not being able to sort by attribute. Pause it and look through all the sorting options, Its literally RIGHT THERE. "Spellsword armour attribute" "spellsword mainhand weapon attribute"

Never played the game but hearing this it looks like game made by a logistics company really tries to incorporate its business model into its games. Taxes, payed warp increased by weight, and storage also limited by weight.
