Max should go and pray for some people in palliative care and save them - not people with non life threatening conditions like IBS which come and go.

I loved the technique of asking Max what HIS standard for a miracle was... but they let him gish gallop along when he admitted that even his account didn't meet HIS OWN definition... and they also let slide his bit about "they must not have believed".... If it is "command" healing, what the hell does the recipients belief have to do with it?

Ok as someone with ibs who knows others with it as well I can tell you it’s the classification they give when they’ve tested for everything else and it’s not any of those. It can often be somatic, and if the victim has ibs related to stress and anxiety and you do something to relive them of that it can help. This is like how technically praying a cave makes you more likely to be rescued, but only because it keeps you calm.

All morals come from humans. There is no other source. Suppose you refer to a book to get your morals, which is a strange thing to do. You know that humans write books, yeah? Personally, before I ever read a book, I had already learned a lot of morals.

The story of Abraham is cool, as long as it remains a story in an old book that Christians can just talk about. The second it’s brought to real life and it’s implications hit home though is when the mental gymnastics start.

I have IBS and sometimes it’s just better, then it comes back. But it’s not a constant.

True, IBS can suddenly go away overnight when the trigger factor (that causes the irritation) is removed, and it can be simply things like feeling less stressed out emotionally, having a healthier diet, etc ... this caller should do more research on the subject before calling ... many cases of IBS is easily treated ... most likely that person felt better due to the placebo effect of believing that the church is healing her, it makes her less stressful which in turns alleviates the trigger stress causing the IBS in the first place ...

It followed on from a point which I think Russel did a bad job of rebutting - Steven's assertion that Russel telling Steven his god does not exist is the same as Steven telling Russel his mother does not exist since Russel knows and loves his mother and Steven knows and loves god. Russel's next question should have been "In what way do you know god?" He made another point which Steven could not reply to and the discussion ground to a halt.
