Defense fluctuates way more than offense does, Even if you bring back all the same players n coaches. Cuz defense is the code getting cracked. Where offense is more a probability function. Statistically its much more likely to fluctuate wildly on defense year to year than for offense to do so, regardless of coaching consistency which is WILD. The athletic did a great podcast on it, as well as great statisticians on KZbin doing work on this stuff.

This is what I've been saying ever since we fired Smith and thus opened up the avenue of trying a different philosophy (a winning one ideally, rather than sustained mediocrity). You hit the nail on the head with every point in the video. On top of it all, playoff success doesn't even seem unlikely for the Falcons because the weird state of the NFC where you need to get past one of the weaker teams in the wild card game you presumably host and then move on to the top dogs in Dallas, San Francisco or seemingly Green Bay. Everyone else and for that matter the Cowboys too have been sh*ttng the bed in the postseason so consistently in the past few years that I would be surprised to see the Falcons in another Super Bowl less than 10 years after one of the most bitter defeats in sports history. How they fare against the best the AFC has to offer is of course a different question altogether, but who knows...

Why should the falcons not do both of these options? Get Kirk for the next two years and draft your qb of the future in Daniels but give him time to learn and prepare for nfl ball?
@evanpetersen40168 ай бұрын
The jig is up on kirko, he cannot handle business out of the pocket. Everytime a dominant pass rusher comes along he takes too many sacks. Its kinda ridiculous how much money he supposedly wants. Besides QB, I think the Falcons also need to address their pass rush, cause besides Grady Jarrett, this team lacks options to put pressure on opposing offenses. Even then, Jarrett is already 30 years old, so the inevitable decline is coming sooner or later. They need to address this soon, cause the secondary and offensive line unit, the two bright spots of the Falcons at the moment, are all in their primes. It would be a waste to not take advantage, cause with that o-line, the potential for a strong rushing attack is there. The secondary can lock down passing attempts, but you also need the front 7 to add pressure to bait opposing QBs into making mistakes. QB is a glaring need, I will not deny that, but the lack of a pass rush will also be a factor in determining this team's future successes.

Thank you for saying my exact opinions and options we have as a die hard atl fan... Id prefer it id we got Kirk cousins, although with recent reports that fields unfollowed the bears and is now following pitts, bijan and drake london its looking like we may make a trade for him, which would still give us room to draft Dallas Turner. Penix is my favorite (outside Daniels) because he has great traits that people seem to refuse to notice and i could list but hard to explain without video and without typing an essay. JJ is way better than Williams. People refuse to accrpt JJ playrd against ranked teams with defense and say Williams is better because he destroys the worst defenses (which is disingenuous)

And the thing is, one of those guys could easily fall to ATL without them having to do anything. Rumors suggest they might ship their pick

Look at the owners history. ATL is kinda known for holding on and trusting their staff. As such I can’t imagine there’s a ton of pressure on morris and fontenot. To prove my point Atlanta has only had 12 gms since 1966, so let’s say Kirk resigns and Morris’ guy isn’t in this year’s draft. I don’t see the falcons firing anyone and just muddling in mediocrity for another year.
