Pelicans fan here. Dyson was our second best defender behind Herb Jones. He will be a future all defensive player one day. He’s only 21. His offense is still a work in progress but he’s improved his threes this year. He will only get better. We will miss him here in NOLA

Pels fan here... We loved Dys in Nola, certified star on defense, not great as herb but that's cause he is younger than Herb. The coaches were confident to leave him on top scorers in the game with no drop offs BUT HIS OFFENSE is nonexistent. Not a great ball handler, okay passer, make the occasional open 3 but that's it. He'll be in the league a long time just off defense alone. Oh also, he's a high character guy even at his young age, he'll be missed in Nola and will get a loud cheer once he returns.

dont forget that the '25 pick is unprotected from the lakers. Its not hard to envision bron and/or AD going down with injury and that pick having a good chance at a top pick in a stud loaded draft class. Imagine we get a top 3 pick as well. Its only 2 firsts but unprotected firsts are so much more valuable than your usual first that goes to a team you just made better by sending them a player making the pick out of the lottery. We got a great deal. Only reason we brought DJ in was as an overreaction to the miami series where they doubled trae.. we wanted a second ball handler.. enter DJ. also a plus defender so they thought the match was perfect but turns out DJ isnt a good on ball defender and his offense overlaps traes too much so it was actaully an offensive detriment and little to no help on D... Now enter Dyson Daniels.. A plus on ball defender, secondary ball handler we needed, switchable on d which is a must on modern champ level teams, and his athleticism allows him to be an opportunistic scorer which will benefit from all the attention Trae gets on offense so he doesnt need to be an offensive ace to be effective... just needs to be efficient with his opportunities. Offensive game looks like it should develop as well which would be a plus but even without it the Hawks will be a better team with just DDaniels over DJ... now add Risacher also a long, tall, quick footed perimeter defender that is highly switchable and an excellent movement shooter.. again pairs perfect with Trae... Folks are sleeping so hard on how much better we already are than last year and recouped the 25 and 27 picks we gave to sanantonio.. i guarantee the picks we get from this trade are better than the ones we send out to San Antonio...

The biggest problem the hawks have had is that they haven’t had a dominant centre There were a few big men in the draft but unfortunately we only had the 1 pick early. Even if we could have picked up Filipowski who went in the 2nd round then I would have been more confident.
@Commander_Claw6 ай бұрын
Exactly! We’ve never had a 7 footer. Dyson Daniels is another 6’8” defender added to our roster but this time NO OFFENSE. How is that going to be help the Hawks? The Hawks defense gets in trouble because they pick on Trae Young off the pick and roll. I’m a Hawks fan since 86’. The Hawks have bad culture and ownership. We destroyed Cam Reddish mentally who’s a talented player with defense and offense. The next problem is is over posting for DeAndre Hunter who is always hurt.

Hawks would be just fine. They will form a young, fast and multiple switches able squad. I was once want Trae to be traded away given his holes in defenses. But to be fair his 43 millions salary is a money pit. Teams can't afford even they want him there. Markets speculation for BI to Hawks as I looked is not suited as Coach Synder maybe have another plan for this team. Maybe Nets Bridges was our first plan to move Trae Young with Ben Simmons added in the trade, maybe Nets doesn't want to win now too. The only question I would have is why they make this trades so early maybe the options are narrow. 😂

It seems like the Hawks are getting defensive minded wings to protect Trae. The problem is they are very young wings and Trae wants to win now. Maybe this means they'll get rid of Trae too. A lot of folks are confused about the Hawks' long term plans and just what kind of team they're trying to build. Is this a mini - rebuild or a major one?

Zacharrie risacher will be star in the league as a 2 way player sir
@the_dixon_way6 ай бұрын
@@Glennweside right now is the key word out of my statement. Right now Dyson defense is better than Zacc and if you’re looking to have someone that can switch 1-4 the Dyson would start. It depends on if Zacc plays 2 or 3. After looking at more footage of Dyson defensively he isn’t the normal throw in player in this trade. The pelicans drafted extremely well on defensively for the wing position. Everyone can play so Dyson was expendable but in this draft imo he would have been top 5 in talent.

Nah man im sorry it shouldve been Trae....look at the last game of the season. They didnt give up because the other team was better. They gave up because they got tired of playing help D for Trae. Then go rewatch when Trae was hurt and look at one. The record they have. Like No Dejounte cant guard legit 2 spots. Hes a linky 1. So when he got at one i saw teams not being able to score over 100 multiple times. Trae comes back the oher team finally breaks past 100. 150+ if i remember correctly and that continued until elimination. Trae showed me something tho Aswell. Those last maybe 4 minutes where the tean kinda dropped there shoulders and heads when he checked back in and he actually contested a layup and checked his man on the perimeter why? Because he simply FUCKING TRIED! Now me i wouldve kept dejounte cause to me the span they had with him leading they looked like a real basketball team. No no crazy 3s but dejounte shot normal threes and made them and shared the ball without looking for a shot some plays and we won. Which is why i said Dejounte. But if the front office agreess with what i think i saw in those last 4 minutes. Him playing defense. Adding this rookie may be a good thing. If trae can learn to put up resistence, not even stop but resistence on defense hawks are a problem. Hes our Achillies and achillies heal. Trae is a unbelievable talent on offense but no matter who w3 bring in. If hes our guy we will never win unless he tries and learns...defense. simply put idc what you say. I have watched every game and its been a mystery and i love him for what he has done and the unforgettable games hes given me as a hawks fan. Like it would be absolutely hard for me to let him go but me at the helm this wouldve been the year. Dejounte was a leader deadass. Trae dont really even talk to them dudes like that and they say it. "He comes in not a problem, hoops and leaves." Thays just him no judgement. Not everyone is popular. Im not and he has a speech impediment slightly so he aint gonna wanna talk alot idc how rich you get. Children are deadass real. The most real and child hood trauma is harder to beat than mike tyson in his prime...well maybe not Tyson in his prime..that man was one punch manning people. But all in all they must believe he can play defense and ill believe one more year for Trae. Just try trae. I know you hated seeing your teammates loom at you like your letting them down. Offensive training COMPLETE! DEFENSIVE....BEGIN!
