Hi Megan, I just wanted to finally comment. I'm 34 and there's no public health pathway in my country yet for Autism or ADHD diagnosis and I can't afford the private route but I love watching your videos and I think if things had been different and a bit better, my younger self might have been a lot like you and I mean that as a compliment. I hope that you are proud of yourself.

Regarding ideas for videos: do what you feel suits you best at the moment. The daily excerpts of walks, swans, Wednesday, seeing bookflips in stores and general clouds makes such calm content just by itself. Do not feel like it has to be "high value" or important topics. Your vibe of sharing small things is what makes me interested to watch and read/draw/write while listening and watching your content.

I totally get how “weird times” are your baseline and how you constantly find yourself in a place of learning to accept it over and over again. I often think, “I just need to get over this weird bump in the road, then I can move on,” but months later, I’m still in that weird headspace and I have to remind myself that this is actually my normal. As for book recs, have you heard of Wylding Hall by Elizabeth Hand? It’s a short novella and is full of gothic atmosphere. It’s about a fictional band that goes to Wylding Hall to record an album, but one of their members goes missing in the house, never to be seen again. The book is about a documentary being made about the band and what had happened at Wylding Hall. It’s a fascinating and chilling book. It’s also very different. I think I want to reread it now. 😂 Anyway, it can be read in one sitting and is beautifully written.

About the "weird times to normal times" feeling, I have been feeling like I have a little bit more grasp on it when I track things everyday in my planners. Symptoms, mood... It feels like I have a little bit broader view of how my weird to normal ratio looks like and also it really helped me understand what was my normal.
@mlleariane6667 Жыл бұрын
(I realize this make look like unsolicited advice and it's really not meant that way, this is more of a "i give a tidbit about myself to explain I relate to some extent" autistic comment, sorry)

I think they just call it "rings" instead of ring binder in the planner community. So yeah, you're into rings now. 💍😄

😮 Is it really necessary to correct someone like this who shared, "I feel a little less like dying now that I've had some sleep"? Maybe show her some grace and skip over the lack of perfection. She didn't ask what the binder was called. But, maybe the correction of someone who is struggling (see video title) somehow made you feel better. Geez, can't people just be kind any more?
@fiopiccolo14 Жыл бұрын
@@dlmarsh1916 errr.. did you watch the video? She was wondering what to call the new system she created. She didn’t like using the names ‘Filofax’ or ‘ring binder’.. I was just suggesting something. 😂
@dlmarsh1916 Жыл бұрын
I did watch the video. She was obviously hurting and in a tentative place. She did not ask what to call the binder. She was merely explaining what she called it.. Did you listen to her video? It was a call for understanding, not correction. If you are okay with correcting someone in that place in life on such a meaningless point, so be it. I hope you find more understanding from others when you need it.
@haileybee6352 Жыл бұрын
@@dlmarsh1916 I sense some mild confusion here. You're heart is clearly in the right place, and I agree with you completely in saying she deserves grace and kindess-- everyone does. Which is why I want to take the time and just clear the air by saying @Fio Piccolo wasn't correcting her, but referring to when she said she didn't like calling the filofax a ring binder because it sounds like grade school, and wanted a fun thing to call it besides the brandname (mentioned at 7:20- 7:27). I honestly think all Fio was doing was suggesting a name to call it based on another common name for a ring binder. And rings is a cute name! I don't think there was any ill intention in their comments.

I think that was me that made the comment! 🥺💕 I’m so glad it was helpful! I’m also autistic and noticing how peoples sensory needs impact their behavior/how they try to fulfill those needs is part of my job, so it was an easy observation for me. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to translate that capability to myself and my own sensory needs, so maybe it’s similar with you and it’s just harder to recognize when it’s so internal. Your videos help me daily and I come back to them when I’m overwhelmed and struggling so I’m happy to give back and help some🥰

I want to thank you for recommending Tiimo a while ago, it's very helpful to me! The Shadow of the Wind is my eternal recommendation, part of a 4 book series that can be read in any order and they fit together in a very satisfying way like a puzzle. Gothic novel, very dramatic and sweeping and fun. I recommend starting with The Shadow of the Wind before moving on to the rest I relate to things being weird more often than not. Energy is fickle and having a disability means constantly adjusting to changing limitations.

You make me feel less unruly in my own brain. Thank you for your softness

Never thought of it as coming to terms with disability over and over again…but it’s true. I run into my disability every day several times a day. That makes more sense than enduring it as my whole life. It puts my disability into life, instead of it being about life being a disability. It breaks things into parts instead of being the whole. So I can I embrace my work arounds in parts instead of coloring my whole life as a disability. I like that. It feels more positive and less overwhelming. Not autistic. Partially blind and kidney disease. Very much enjoy your channel.

As someone who also has chronic health stuff (undiagnosed, because I don't have access to diagnosis but I know that SOMETHING is fucked) I also struggle to come to terms with the way it affects every facet of my life and how much more often I have 'weird' times than 'normal' times. Sometimes I catch myself saying I had a Hard Week and it's like...90% of my weeks are hard with like sprinkles of fleeting joy so really I just had a Week, and it's odd that I feel the need to distinguish that. I'm constantly trying seesawing between radical acceptance of my circumstances (so that I don't inevitably get upset with myself and my limited abilities) and choosing continued denial (because if this is really the way things are then what's the point and why am I even alive). A little dark, but that's just how i'm dealing with my 'horrors' right now lol

I just read Weyward by Amelia Hart. It just released in April so you’ve probably not read it. It’s following a family of nature-based “witches” through the generations, and one of the storylines in particular is quite gothic feeling, so I think this would hit all your vibes. It has a bit of that gothic undertone so you might enjoy. The Daughter of Smoke and Bone Trilogy is a good read as well, especially the first book. Another favourite of mine is The Bone Witch Trilogy. The first book is heavy on the world building so it might be a bit slow, but it was a good time if you enjoy the witchy vibe. Oh, and this could be a hit or miss, have you read the Morganvile Vampire series? It’s a fun time, I know you were into those campy vampire books awhile back and this might scratch the same itch. Not sure if this is good and valuable book recs but when it comes to YA that you perhaps might like, I guess I would say Lock & Mori by Heather W. Petty or the Gilda Joyce book series by Jennifer Allison. Idk why I have these on my mind, they just used to be my favorite YA books, sorry if it's useless 😅

Hey, have you read any books by Kate Mosse? Have you managed to find more dot index stickers? Will you be restocking your physical shop items anytime soon?

The Sin Eater and House of Hollow are both really good and kinda gothic (house of hollow is like semi-horror but withut being scary, it's like unsetlling; the sin eater is set in like 'old times' i guess (?) and is beautiful and haunting. Sorry if you've already read them and this is useless haha

Book rec: Nevermoor: The trials of Morrigan Crow? I recommend this to everyone cuz it's my fav comfort read lol. It's a fantasy series about a little girl who is cursed and expecting to d1e at 11 years old, but instead she gets taken to a magical city called Nevermoor. It has found family and the protagonist is a gothic queen. There's halloween vibes at some point too.
