I’m driving one since 2017. It’s indeed not cheap to run, but it really puts a smile on your face 😊

I recently bought a 1.4 A2 Sport, and have been watching a lot of your Audi A2 videos! Very helpful stuff and interesting. I am glad that in the end you got to enjoy the car after all that work and that it was all worth it :)

After 20 years of wanting an A2, I finally bought one in October. I have watched all of your excellent videos and hope to do some of the same maintenance myself with the confidence your videos give me. Really fantastic work. I agree with you this car makes me smile.

I am glad that my videos help you. And yes, if you understand that this car is now already 20 years old and you can appreciate the driving experience that it gives you, then you just love the car :).

Thanks for the video! proud a2 owner in Greece. Just ordered two lambda probe sensors.. I'm still glad to pay for them, this car is giving me endless joy and its worth of every cent for keeping it in a good shape.. at least for me. Audi engineers designing such a form factor in aluminum at 1.4 optimized to the last bit for economy and efficiency in the city is kind of hard to beat for their current price point.. I got it a year ago a little under 4k euros with 160k km all leather interior in black color, full service book.. god bless all those gifted engineers contributing with their excellence overtime so that regular people like me can get to enjoy such otherwise modern day wonders =)

Nice video! You really enjoy your A2 and it makes sense. For me, additional joy are the uphill parts of the highways when my ATL shows its power to weight ratio sometimes even better than the new "sporty" looking cars.

Yes, A2 with ATL (especially if it is tunned) can be quite a surprise on the highway. With my AUA is totaly different story, it just ''dies'' on long uphills, but the twisties are its playground. I was astonished what a different car is a diesel A2. It really settles on the highway and purs, but due to more weight in the front it is much more prone to the understeer in the turns.

Maintaining a car is expensive but it's even worse when rust ruins the body that then needs welding and painting. The body of an A2 will never rust. Buying a newer car every couple of years is frustrating and also expensive. In Eastern Europe it can be very bad with awful condition cars getting sold as supposedly near perfect condition. Newer cars are supposed to have many more features but often those appear as not very practical silly gimmicks. Rare is an easy to park small city car with the feature of toolless removable rear seats for extra storage space. I like to think that an A2 has potential for long term ownership while most other cars are for a few years of use and then they get replaced with newer ones.

Thank you for your comment. I agree about the rust problem for older cars. But majority of newer cars do not have this problem anymore. I was searching for a second A2 half a year ago and the prices here in Slovenia were between 2.000 and 2.500 EUR, but they were in really bad condition and would need a lot of work. For example you can get Clio Storia, year 2010 for that price. And if I add for example 1.500 EUR for A2 ''defect removal treatment'', I get to budget 4.000 EUR, for which you can get Clio 3 around 2012. So a car that has only 10 years instead of cca. 20, less mileage, is easier to get parts for, etc. So, I would still give the same advice: if the car for you is just a daily transportation device forget A2, it will just constantly frustrate you. If you get what A2 can offer, than you will be more than happy to live with its ''flaws'', because it will offer you The A2 experience :).

I am driving the A2 now for 20 Years as a daily driver and i never regret it. If you have fallen in love with the A2 it will last forever. I have 3 A2s in my garage. The oldest one is a 2004 90hp ATL Diesel. It has 334000 km on the Odometer still with first engine. My son used it as his daily and ran 75000 km in the last 2 years and the car never let him down. My second one is a 2005 75hp Petrol BBY. It has so far 240000 km on the Odometer. I never had mayor problems with the car. Since 2 years i also use it to tow my Kip Shelter Caravan. This is really a nice Combo, a small car and a small caravan ;-) My third one is also a 2005 75hp Petrol BBY. It has so far 124000 km on the Odometer. This car is in absolute mint condition. Its driving like a new A2 coming fresh out of the factory. If you plan to buy an A2 buy a 2005 Model. They have not the quality problems compared to the earlier models from 2000-2003.

@@MtlCarGarage I already drive an A2 1.4TDI myself and yes it's expensive to repair for an old car. As far as car ownership goes I'd still rather own something that I know won't need welding. If I didn't care about ownership there are cheaper options like working for a company that provides brand new cars for employee use including personal use for a monthly fee that's cheaper than buying and maintaining a personal vehicle. And the problems that come with living in Eastern Europe should not be underestimated. I'd hate to be an owner of a failry new good condition vehicle only to have its headlights or mirrors stolen at night or the windows smashed to break into the car in search for valuables. And the pothole riddled roads quickly wear out various bushings that then need to be replaced likely resulting in lost fasteners and broken body plastics by poorly trained mechanics. Anyway my case is something in-between a daily driver and a hobby.

I do get your point, but Eastern Europe (at least Slovenia) is not such a scary place ;). I bet you get much more cars/parts stolen in UK in comparison to Slovenia :). And regarding bushings, etc. Exactly and this is why a newer car with less miles will be much better option TO BUY. If you already own and A2 and you know how it was serviced and that everything is ok, you are of course better to just keep using it. But this is true for all cars. My advice is regarding buying A2 for a daily. Just an example. Polo year 2000 costs between 500 and 1000 EUR here. A2 is between 2.000 and 2.500 EUR. Well, the decision is easy from rational point of view, not even considering that there is a lot of Polos here and it is easier to get a good maintained example. But if you understand what A2 can offer you (the A2 experience) than everything changes. :)

@@MtlCarGarage I do hope polos rust faster than their engines fail. I might need to replace my AMF at some point. :) Before the A2 I drove a 1998 Mercedes A160. Very similar nice small car but to pass tech inspection would have cost around 700 euros in welding. No one wanted to buy the car even for less than 500 euros, even with full service history and only the rust problem. Here in Latvia it sometimes feels like we're still some little Russia with lots of corruption and while there is less crime than in the 90s the police seems to be overworked so criminals can keep getting away with their illegal activities. I still frequently see cars with missing headlamps on the roads. And just a few days ago there was a news article of how a lady went on to do her own detective work to recover her brand new car that was stolen and hidden away in a forest in Lithuania, the police response was basically nothing. Frankly I spent so many years just walking and riding a bicycle and didn't have a drivers license and the costs that I've experienced with car ownership are so high that I wouldn't recommend buying any kind of car if possible. But people often make silly decisions which is why our capital city has barely anyone using the public transport and there are daily traffic jams due to all the cars.

Nice video, share your opinions. But why have you the seat so far forward? No support for the thighs and to close to the steering wheel!

Thx, I hope you enjoyed it. Regarding the driving position: I like to have the best control of the car and this is the position that offers me that. It basically stayed with me from my driving on the racetrack ;). I just cannot drive the car in “leasure” driving position, to me personally it just feels wrong. Yeah, I know I have a problem :).
