was lucky enough to meet my now wife while her parents lived in Pasatiempo and were members there. Anytime we were in town I was lucky enough to play. I didn't totally understand the beauty and prestige of Pasatiempo until i started workin on my game again, three years into dating my now wife. I have probably played this course 50+ times, and absolutely love it. How could you not.. They no longer live there, but it will always have a special place in my "regaining my love of golf journey." We have a trip coming up in June and can't wait to play it again!

I am closing in on 70 now and grew up in the central valley not too far from Santa Cruz. I have been lucky enough to play Pasatiempo 3 times. The first time I was so young the price was under 30 dollars including the cart! My standout memory of the last time (about 15 years ago) was the speed of the greens, (the starter said 11 point something on the stimpmeter) and the effect on the final hole. On the par 3, 18th they had the pin in that upper back left position just a few steps from the edge of the green. I hit what I thought was the perfect 8 iron with a slight draw turning oh so slightly into it. I was ready for a good chance at a birdie but when we got up to the green, I saw my ball was inches into the longer grass beyond the first cut. Maybe 10 or 12 feet from the pin! I chipped out so carefully that the first bounce was only a foot ahead of the ball...it bounced twice on the collar before it rolled onto the green. I thought it might be short, but it wasn't. It rolled past the cup and continued picking up speed until the sand stopped it! All the way down the hill into the front bunker! A tough course for sure...personally, I think as tough or tougher than Spyglass.

I used to work in the Silicon Valley and had a golf partner who had a membership here. One of the toughest tests of golf in this area with so many tough and beautiful courses. I played here about once a month and it kicked my butt most days. Greens are insane with some very inspiring views. Check out the Santa Cruz muni course at DelaVillega, Carmel Valley, Spyglass. Some great golf memories. 🙏

I have played this course twice with my favorite golf mate ever, my brother in law Manny Vaz, who passed away far too early. I don’t remember anything about the round nor my scores as at the time it was just another great day golfing with Manny, a real prince this man was. At the time I was young and strong as it was 40 years ago and a 9, now at 75 I am a 12 and much shorter off the tee but game improvement irons help me to be within 5-10 yards of what was normal back then. Thanks for the reminder 👍.

For sure the hardest 6,000 yards in golf. A true classic. Love your videos, would love to see you play the course I grew up on Peace Portal. As your comment of Augusta greens for sure there is similarity's in the two courses but having played both I would say Augusta having been re-designed multiple times has far superior green complexes . 10 and 11 at Pasatiempo are amazing. 82 is a great round there and I will be honest, I prefer it to Pebble Beach

I’ve played this course twice. The first time in 1995. It was the most I ever paid for a round of golf up to that point - $100! A beautiful, fun, and challenging course to be sure. I’m surprised your video didn’t really highlight the 16th green. I would rank it as the craziest I’ve played. The three tiers of that thing are an intimidating sight when you’re making your approach. Someday I hope to play this course again. Thanks for your video.

Hey Noah. Everybody seems to have a different opinion of this place. I heard from several people that it was their favorite course, so I came in with very high expectations. The course exceeded my expectations. I really don't think there's a bad hole on the course. In fact, I'd argue that every single one of them is spectacular. The green fee there necessarily makes one compare it to courses like Pebble, Spyglass, etc. In that sense, Pasatiempo doesn't have the "wow" factor that those courses do, but I maintain that as a "golfer's golf course" it belongs in that company. Just my $0.02.

Ernst, I literally said the same words verbatim on the practice green, "this course would be unplayable if the greens ran any faster than a 10." It would be a circus at 12, and even at 11 it would be no fun.
