was lucky enough to meet my now wife while her parents lived in Pasatiempo and were members there. Anytime we were in town I was lucky enough to play. I didn't totally understand the beauty and prestige of Pasatiempo until i started workin on my game again, three years into dating my now wife. I have probably played this course 50+ times, and absolutely love it. How could you not.. They no longer live there, but it will always have a special place in my "regaining my love of golf journey." We have a trip coming up in June and can't wait to play it again!

You saved us from the wind noise. THANK YOU. So many golf KZbinrs try to do videos with so much wind noise that you can hardly hear anything. Better to hear nothing than trying to make something out over the wind screaming through the microphone 😫😫😫

I am closing in on 70 now and grew up in the central valley not too far from Santa Cruz. I have been lucky enough to play Pasatiempo 3 times. The first time I was so young the price was under 30 dollars including the cart! My standout memory of the last time (about 15 years ago) was the speed of the greens, (the starter said 11 point something on the stimpmeter) and the effect on the final hole. On the par 3, 18th they had the pin in that upper back left position just a few steps from the edge of the green. I hit what I thought was the perfect 8 iron with a slight draw turning oh so slightly into it. I was ready for a good chance at a birdie but when we got up to the green, I saw my ball was inches into the longer grass beyond the first cut. Maybe 10 or 12 feet from the pin! I chipped out so carefully that the first bounce was only a foot ahead of the ball...it bounced twice on the collar before it rolled onto the green. I thought it might be short, but it wasn't. It rolled past the cup and continued picking up speed until the sand stopped it! All the way down the hill into the front bunker! A tough course for sure...personally, I think as tough or tougher than Spyglass.

I used to work in the Silicon Valley and had a golf partner who had a membership here. One of the toughest tests of golf in this area with so many tough and beautiful courses. I played here about once a month and it kicked my butt most days. Greens are insane with some very inspiring views. Check out the Santa Cruz muni course at DelaVillega, Carmel Valley, Spyglass. Some great golf memories. 🙏

I have played this course twice with my favorite golf mate ever, my brother in law Manny Vaz, who passed away far too early. I don’t remember anything about the round nor my scores as at the time it was just another great day golfing with Manny, a real prince this man was. At the time I was young and strong as it was 40 years ago and a 9, now at 75 I am a 12 and much shorter off the tee but game improvement irons help me to be within 5-10 yards of what was normal back then. Thanks for the reminder 👍.

For sure the hardest 6,000 yards in golf. A true classic. Love your videos, would love to see you play the course I grew up on Peace Portal. As your comment of Augusta greens for sure there is similarity's in the two courses but having played both I would say Augusta having been re-designed multiple times has far superior green complexes . 10 and 11 at Pasatiempo are amazing. 82 is a great round there and I will be honest, I prefer it to Pebble Beach

I’ve played this course twice. The first time in 1995. It was the most I ever paid for a round of golf up to that point - $100! A beautiful, fun, and challenging course to be sure. I’m surprised your video didn’t really highlight the 16th green. I would rank it as the craziest I’ve played. The three tiers of that thing are an intimidating sight when you’re making your approach. Someday I hope to play this course again. Thanks for your video.

Just found your channel and I’m loving the content. I was lucky enough to play pasatiempo last Wednesday and the course was amazing. I had such a great time navigating the difficult layout. I can’t recommend this course enough and will definitely be returning.

Good stuff dude, just found your channel. Pasy is my favorite course, I played for a college in San Jose and looped 5 yrs at Pebble & Spy. I'll take Pasy & Bayonet over Pebble & Cypress every time, Bayo is the most difficult course to score on day in day out I've ever seen. It's absolutely unrelenting, and I'm currently in Santa Barbara so gotta throw a shoutout for the Valley Club here. Another MacKenzie gem if you're ever here.

Oh man, what a shame! Love both courses to death. What were your favorites that you played while in the Bay?

@@NotAScratchGolfer i played san juan oaks and cinnabar the most. i guess those would be my favorites cuz i miss playing those courses. as you know it gets expensive playing nice courses in the bay area. i'm from seattle area.

@@golfmaniac007 Gotcha. I played Cinnabar for the first time last week. Amazing place. Stunningly beautiful. Only course I've played out your way is The Home Course in Dupont which was fantastic.

Hey dude. Really enjoy your videos. Have you thought about using a stereoscopic camera to record a round? Watching golf in VR would really show the elevation changes and green undulations. There are more and more VR users these days. I haven't seen anything out there like that, might be a cool new niche you could be the first to get into.

Hey! It's funny you mention this. I've been saying for months that "normal" golf videos (mine included) don't really provide the immersive experience that I wish they could. I'm a total neophyte when it comes to film production. What you mention is probably beyond my capabilities but it's something I'm certainly interested in. Do you have any info/resources you could provide that I could look into?

How did the course stand up to your expectations going in and how does it stack up to other courses around the Bay Area?
@NotAScratchGolfer
@NotAScratchGolfer 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Noah. Everybody seems to have a different opinion of this place. I heard from several people that it was their favorite course, so I came in with very high expectations. The course exceeded my expectations. I really don't think there's a bad hole on the course. In fact, I'd argue that every single one of them is spectacular. The green fee there necessarily makes one compare it to courses like Pebble, Spyglass, etc. In that sense, Pasatiempo doesn't have the "wow" factor that those courses do, but I maintain that as a "golfer's golf course" it belongs in that company. Just my $0.02.

All par 3s are really tough. Greens are so deceiving - still confused after playing many many times there.

I like the new addition of on course commentary but I'd probably turn the on course audio mixing down a couple DB to just below your voiceover track. The louder oncourse audio is a bit jarring after your VO track goes away and the higher DB comes with more distortion. Still great video!

Played this a week before the intercollegiate, where the greens were 11-12 on stimp. I will will forever say this course is unplayable at an 11-12 on the stimp. A ball can hardly stay on these greens at a 9, let alone 11-12. Brilliant course, but not sure its fit for modern golf. Its a great course to watch the best try to navigate.
@NotAScratchGolfer

Ernst, I literally said the same words verbatim on the practice green, "this course would be unplayable if the greens ran any faster than a 10." It would be a circus at 12, and even at 11 it would be no fun.
