Course management is the main thing I've learned from your channel. It's easy to get into hitting your longest club when the shot allows. Most of of time it's better to take a second to think about what the correct shot should be, with position rather than distance in mind.

Great to see a video of competition play! As someone who plays in tournaments regularly, I can give some tips around the slow play issue and mentality around it: * Evaluate if you're actually a slow player, if you aren't you can't control how quickly others play, so don't let it impact your play. For shots off the green, once you get to your ball & it's your turn to play you should be making your shot within 40-60 seconds. Get your distance, go through your preshot routine, & then take your shot. If your preshot routine is too long, work on shortening it in practice. If you're not first to play, then a lot of this can be done while waiting for playing partners to take their shots, so you're ready to swing when it's your turn. * Getting stuck with slow players in a tournament is inevitable. If you're less a full hole behind, don't worry about it, however once you get the warning from the marshal, that gives the green light for you to keep the group conscious of pace of play. * If your group is behind, play ready golf. Most tournaments this is the standard, but if not, make sure to mention it to your group. * Once two people of the group have holed out, they should both head to the next tee and tee off. You don't need to wait for the whole group to finish, you just need one other person to be present for putting out & teeing off. * Reconcile scores for the previous hole while in motion or waiting at the next tee. No reason to do it immediately after exiting the green. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to more competition videos!

First of all, I LOVE your videos. Great and entertaining golf. By far, the best golf content on KZbin. I have posted a similar comment before, but here I go again: I always watch you taking unnecessary risks in tap in putts, sometimes hitting them in weirds ways, which -like on the 4th hole- can add some strokes to your final score. Keep pushing man. Very inspiring story and superb content. Cheers, from Argentina.

One of my club buddies was rolling along at +2 when he got to the par 5 10th. He needed a chip and putt for par. Chipped to within 8 feet, missed the par putt, then got mad, and went into "weekend golf mode" over the remaining putt. He missed it, then missed the next tap in, then missed the next one. And the next, and then finally tapped in for a 10. The #1 rule in tournaments is that you have to putt out -- which means you have to keep your cool when you miss a par putt. My buddy forgot all about that, and ended up losing his flight by 2 strokes.

Something about tourney golf when things get sped up its so hard to slow it down and compartmentalize. I don't know how many tourneys I've played where I'm patient on the first 9 telling myself be patient then all of a sudden that devil on your left shoulder starts screaming in your head "lets go low" and the wheels fall off

If you’re ever playing in a tournament with a stickler for the rules, be careful about holding the pin while tapping in. I had a buddy get called for that in a high school tournament
@NotAScratchGolfer10 ай бұрын
Funny you say this! After doing it, I thought, "oh shit, was that allowed?" Had to look up the rule: 13.2b(1)/2 allows a player to hold the flagstick in one hand while making a stroke with the other. But it also states that the player must not deliberately let the ball in motion hit the flagstick.
