You need to go to sugar loaf rock, coffee at white elephant cafe and see the sting rays at Hamelin Bay. If you are heading down to south coast elephant rocks and greens pool are a must. Plus beaches around Albany and Esperance. Btw love following your journey.
@billbarr3960 Жыл бұрын
If you are still in the MR area I would suggest you pay Hamelin Bay a visit. If you get there around lunch you will see sting rays come to shore for a feed. You can walk into calf deep water and touch them. Also, as you go around the coast I would recommend that you visit Walpole. The Valley of the Giants is a must, and you hire a canoe and paddle up the Frankland River. The banks of the river are lined with massive tingle trees. I would also give Albany a look. It's a cute town with an amazing coast. The walk around the windmills is fee (great coast line) and the gap and natural bridge is well worth a look.

Its really cool hearing your thoughts as Canadians! You guys are awesome. P.S. watch out for snakes in the coastal scrub with sandles on. Dugites and tiger snakes mostly. Agree with the chicken salt…you need that on your chips! Definitely agree with the no shoes on sand here…too for walking that I learnt from watching way too many surf lifesaving events on TV…go toe first into the sand and try walking on someone else’s footprints cos they’ve compacting the sand down already 😊 One of the most beautiful beaches I’ve been to is Hyams beach on the south coast of NSW…white sand and blue water…as they say in the adverts sand so clean it squeaks 😊

Glad you guys are wearing the sunscreen. I'm a middle aged carpenter who is a born and bred Queenslander. About twice a year I go to my doctors and get a few skin spots either burnt out with frozen nitrogen ,or cut out with a scalpel. Occasionally he has to cut out more skin. It's never really fun but at least it doesn't cost anything apart from any medication needed. The sun over here is a bit hectic with high cases of people needing similar treatments. Also dehydration is something to be careful of. But you guys already take sensible precautions. Straw hats give heaps of protection and breath which makes them pretty comfortable in the heat but not that great in the cold. The ones from Bunnings are ok and cheap enough until your rottweiler puppy finds it🤣 Really great to see you guys enjoying Australia. You'd fit in well in Australia. Lovely video thanks. As a point of etiquette (etiquette in Oz?) you can't eat chips without sauce (ketchup). But they charge heaps for a little sachet so get a bottle from the supermarket. While you're in there, an inexpensive feed is a roast chook. But a roast chook from a proper charcoal chicken place is much tastier but a bit more $. Avoid spud salad here at all costs, it can't hold a candle to US potato salad.

A suggestion for DIY coffee on the road, a lot of caravan parks will have a camp kitchen with a kettle (or make friends with a fellow camper with a camp stove), and a French press is pretty cheap (really really cheap at op shops) and supermarkets have good ground coffee. I think that waterfall is an example of a tufa waterfall; one which deposits limestone as it falls. The waterfall continuously grows outward as more limestone is deposited. Perhaps a geologist can confirm or deny this.
@0swanky059 Жыл бұрын
The red in the sand comes from Iron oxide when the sediment is weathered, the white in the sand comes from the quartz and calcium from weathered cap rock and shells, often occurring in one location when dune systems are actively moving due to natural erosion from wind. In Pemberton, in your next video, the Karri Forests and the sand dunes meet along the coast and the sand dunes are actively (but ever so slowly) encroaching upon the forest to slowly bury the trees/ecosystem.

Before you get too far from civilisation find a store and get a packet of zip ties to help those wheel covers stay on, or be a cheap skate, take them off and put them in the boot till you sell the car. Don't worry Australia has plenty more beaches for you to enjoy, BTW there are not so nice beaches in Australia, but they're pretty hard to find and there are more than enough good ones to make up for them. Seem's like you're already enjoying Oz, will be interesting to see how you feel about the country by the time you get to Brisbane, my advice, don't sell yourself short by stopping the road trip at Brisbane, there's lots more to see going north in QLD. If it's a run out of visa issue, go to NZ for a month and come back to continue your road trip, you won't regret it.

Fish and chips was originally British, by the way, but there are subtle differences, not the least of which is the type of fish, and the type of potatoes used in a typical Australian fish and chips. Then the sides offered are different. I've also been informed that traditionally, British fish and chips is cooked in beef dripping (beef fat), whereas that is quite rare here in Australia.

A Nickel (5c) is bigger than a Dime (10c) here in the USA. In Oz the 1 and 2 dollar coin are like the nickel and dime in their sizes. The rest of the Aussie coins are proportionate to their worth 50c being bigger then the 20c and so on.
@gingerdrake9158 Жыл бұрын
I think the reason the $1 abd $2 coin are smaller than the 50c is the 50c was already in circulation when the $1 and $2 coin were produced and they really couldn't make them bigger, they'd be huge. They also took over the 1c and 2c coin sizes which were of similar size. I do like that they are gold and easily recognizable
