Hello , Doctor . Could you mind making a video about sentence grammer ? It seems to me that one of the major reasons of why people can't talk well their seconde language is they can't destinguish for example the complement . I think people can't understand a language or can't talk in ( for example ) English well because : 1. They don't understand the grammer 2. They haven't made any contacts with the culture of the language . Can you make a video about that ? Thanks for your efforts ♥ stay fresh♥♥♥

It's funny for me that the thing you're saying in every video , makes 100% sense in Persian ( That is my mother language ! ) I'm learning and understanding thing from your videos even in Persian grammer !!!!

Hi, Amo: I will start making writing videos in a month or two. In those videos, I will be talking a bit more about sentence structure, which writers must use write well. Regarding English for speakers of other languages (ESOL), I am planning to make a new channel called "Snap Language Learner." It will be similar to this channel, but it will address the needs of ESOL students. Snap Language Learner has nothing right now, but you can go to kzbin.info/door/zN5YElf_3pNxGOv-EUZesw and subscribe so you will get notifications when the first videos are published. Thanks for your friendly support! :D

Yes, this is common. Regardless what language you speak, we are all human beings and communicate ideas in similar ways. On the surface, the language may express certain concepts differently, but we still express the same concepts. When people learn a new language, it is common to see their previous language(s) improve as well; your understanding of communication improves, it affects your oral expression, and that improvement works for all languages you know. Thanks again for engaging with the channel! :D -- Marc Franco

Why knowing who the author of the text is important for readers
@snaplanguage
@snaplanguage 3 жыл бұрын
When you know who the author is, you can tell something about what you are about to read. For example, writers have biases and perspectives on topics; therefore, when you read something by an author who you know has a certain perspective, you know what to expect from the text. This makes it easier for you to evaluate the information, too. If you know a writer has a particular belief about a topic, you can expect it to affect the content the author includes in or excludes from the text. You can then fill in the gaps when you analyze the information. Thank you for watching and leaving a question :D

How do you analyze the author's purpose or point of view, when you come across certain words that you might not know? especially when you are taking a test, like a social studies test.
@snaplanguage
@snaplanguage 7 жыл бұрын
Hi, Jason. Thanks for the question. For the purpose, you need to understand why the author is giving you the information. If it is just to teach you information (as in a social studies chapter), the purpose is to inform. If the author is giving you information to build an argument to convince you of his or her point of view or to change your opinion, the purpose is to persuade... and so on... To detect the author's point of view is a little more complicated because you have to be attentive to the word choices the author makes. If you do not know some of the words, you can always guess their meaning, but then you would not know for sure if the word conveys a deeper meaning (such as sarcasm, a negative or a positive point of view, and so forth). Of course, the overall context will give you some indication of the author's point of view without necessarily having to know each word. That's why reading instructors will always tell students to read a lot and to read different topics and in different sources. The more you read, the more likely it is that you will enrich your vocabulary. Studying vocabulary by itself is also a good idea--though you still need to read a lot to see the new vocabulary being used in writing. I hope this answers your questions... Again, thanks for the great comment! :D

Hi, Mazhar. There are many things you can to to improve your speaking skills. Having good grammar and vocabulary helps, and you can even learn those on your own. Fluency, however, comes from practice. If you are living in an English-speaking country, you can take classes, join clubs, make friends, and so on. If you live in a non-English speaking country, you must try to find opportunities to practice. It doesn't even have to be with native speakers. There are many "English Learner" clubs in the United States. In these clubs, people meet once a week or once a month just to chat in English. If you do not have that in your country already... maybe you can start a group. :D Thanks for your comment.... because of it, I may create a video about how to learn languages... Good luck! Think of it this way: If they're teaching you about peanut butter, the purpose is to inform. If they're trying to convince (or persuade) you to buy peanut butter, the purpose is to persuade.
