If I had a nickel for every time a Russian experimental weapons project was cancelled by the collapse of the Soviet Union, I'd have two nickels.

Hope this includes the object 292 which is just a T-80 with a 152mm gun and it was very promising but it was cancelled by the collapse of the USSR
@TheArklyte4 ай бұрын
@@zachfrancisco8185 it wasn't very promising. Autoloader for it was supposed to be(because it promised autoloader design that would separate ammo and crew), but that one wasn't even working. The gun was too big with too many drawbacks for very little actual payback.

honestly a more practical design than most OICW type weapons Ive seen so far. Doubts about the 12.7mm grenade though. 15-20mm would have been more optimal.

French also played with the concept which led to PIPOP (if i recall the name). If memory serves a bullpup rifle with a... single shot 40mm launcher on top, similar to austrialian AICW, and a small LCD which worked with a built-in guncam

80.002 is a bit late to be "one of the first examples of OICW" by margin of not being one of SPIWs. It's a pity that Phantom Doctrine, which happens in 1983(and now CoD Cold War set in 1981), haven't included that many prototype firearms. They happen before much better known Abakan and OICW programs, but even some guns from those can fit in as their early prototypes go back for a decade. Late 1940's(somewhere out there is a reality where both NATO and USSR adopted bullpups so early)-early 1980's were wild.

It’s just that Soviet archives turned out to be much more open in their time and that’s why we learn about all these projects. Other countries also have a lot of prototypes or paper designs, they are just rarely written about or they have been forgotten. I heard from a Glock engineer that their designers always had a whole mountain of prototypes and their own developments on the desktop, made by strangest and craziest concepts just as research work.

So since the bolts carrier are fixed together, each time a 5,45 bolt would fire it would automatically eject an pick a grenade even an unfired one? Or is there a mag cutoff?

does it not just have one magazine feed so you can only have either grenade mag or 5.45 mag loaded at a time? :p
